Man y’all were supposed to review this movie with yall wives. That would’ve been so dope!!!! Yall gotta do part two with the wives as guest that will be classic.
Yall 100% right about the dinner scene not gettin that far. Either things immediately go left or somebody wisely says that's enough and everybody awkwardly goes to bed. Depends on the friend group 😂. But no way is Mike able to cleanly tell it all like that
We have to call a spade a spade, sometimes his movies come off to demean the black man I like his work but it does come off like that bc Mike was NOT a real person
I've always felt that way too. Charlemagne Tha God has a video out where he talks about that. There's a lot on the Internet that talks about how he uses negative stereotypes of black people to get himself rich at the expense of making us look so bad!
It's similar to the Cosby Show effect, showing black people with prominent jobs, didn't think that was too off base... And in real life dudes do talk about stuff like that... The movie is called "Why did I get married?" They're all questioning it.
I definitely got The Best Man vibes but I think the second is more like Soul Food. Tyler doesn't have an original bone left in his body post his play era. He either steals from others or steal from his own past work.
15.6% of married individuals hadn’t had sex the previous year (an increase from 1.9% in 1994). 74.2% of sexless marriages end in divorce. In the US there are 20.4 million individuals living in sexless marriages. Married couples under 30 have sex on average 111 times a year (more than twice a week). Married couples, who have been together over 30 years are on average 35 times more likely to be in a sexless marriage than newlyweds (max 2 years married). 77% of those in sexless marriages say they would want more sex.
Sorry to say it , guys like Mike are some of the realest people and dudes . Dudes that might get girls , might have money and treat their person like shit until they realize it's a good thing and she's gone 🤷🏿♂️ . It's a little dead on and direct but all these are real incidents and real life things people go through with pretty spot on real reactions . There's married guys that I've worked with that come to you and say this or that 😂 it happens lol .
I will say this. I believe their analysis of the characters in the friend group is correct, in the sense that they all behave in a overdramatic fashion sometimes. However it’s clear that Jah and Tone aren’t really aware that some of the situations do exist more than they realize. All couples have problems, some put it out in the open and some keep it private and that’s what was going on in the movie. Sexless marriages do exist even though they might not know anyone in that situation. Women like Shelia exist all over the world everyday and it’s tough for them because they don’t love themselves and that creates further insecurities in their relationships. Janet’s character is real therapist needs therapy too. That’s why she didn’t notice their issues because she can only see the surface level issues. Marcus and Angela are just a toxic couple. They argue in public and he lets her talk crazy because he knows he ain’t shit half the time lol. The only problem is Mike’s character. They’re absolutely right about him because his behavior throws off the group dynamic. He throws things off so much that it makes the rest of the characters feel overexaggerate too even though they’re realistic.
Honestly I've always disliked Tyler Perry movies because I felt that he purposely used negative stereotypes of black people. After listening to this discussion I'm split between that and him just being a poor film maker and writing horrible characters. A. Purposely using negative stereotypes B. Bad film maker with unrealistic characters C. Combination of the two ????
That is true i have a friend group just like this and maybe 1 couple is have a major problem at the time but we are not all going through life changing events 😂
Great review! I think Mr. Perry is “heavy handed”with the character design because , there isn’t a solid plot.ie the character doesn’t have a goal that is well defined. With Characters goals, it forces us to watch the growth of a protagonist(s). With that growth comes obstacles and creates stakes to overcome so we can see that growth. so instead of this, the drama and embellishing of “problems” are inputted to make up this missing element. Also, Mr. Perry is a play writer at heart, so the style of a play wright is a different “muscle group” then writing for features or television
I love this movie, and I love me some Jill Scott❤. One thing I’ve noticed about Tyler Perry’s films, plays and tv series is that his female characters are all so damn interesting!!!! Thanks for your review, Jah👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
The movie was good! But Jah’s right the guys don’t feel realistic after Mike aired out everyone’s secrets! Like nobody would be fucking with this man at all after that! Only guy that felt was real was Troy! Gavin, Michael and Terry I felt they were push overs. Mike wasn’t believable in this cause if you air out everyone’s laundry ya boys are gonna look at you like a mark man 💯! So Jah definitely has a point that this movie isn’t believable to a point. Angela is one of the friends that might be unhinged but she cares and have a lot of heart for people she cares about.
This is one of Tyler Perry’s best movies. I don’t understand for the life of me why the guys let Mike back into their circle after he exposed all of their secrets. Fun Facts: Michael Jai White & Tasha Smith dated each other in real life. Prior to this movie Michael Jai White was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret Ooze, Richard T. Jones was Ike Jr. in What’s Love Got To Do With It & Tasha Smith was on The HBO short lived series The Corner. Lahman Rucker was in The Temptations & Brown Sugar. Can we please get Blackbusters on the following Tyler Perry movies: Why Did Get Married Too Diary Of A Mad Black Woman Madea’s Family Reunion The Family That Preys Madea’s Goes To Jail Madea’s Big Happy Family Temptation A Fall From Grace Acrimony Mea Culpa
Yo Jah? Whenever yall slow down on the movies yall should do the shows.. from the Wire to Top boy to power.. want to hear yall breakdown of storyline to character development... just a thought.
This is one of my favorite Tyler Perry films, even though it’s just like the rest of his films. There’s an unbelievable super villain, a man or woman, and a spineless victim. Then there’s a prince/princess charming that comes into the victim’s life. Shows the victim real love and attention. Then they live happily ever after. The other plot twist is something tragic happens to the villain, or the victim at the end. I just watched Mea Culpa and was disappointed that it was the same story line. I admire what Tyler has accomplished, and that he employs good black actors, but I don’t understand why there’s no variation in his dramatic films.
The girl with married to the football player. Her role came from the days when her and Monique was at the comedy clubs in New York cussing out owners about they $
i think with Tyler Perry this is the thing he's in charge so there's nobody to say yo Tyler that's not good we should do this instead, I think NeYo has the same problem like who's gonna challenge them
I get what you guys are saying about this movie and maybe it’s too much, but this has happen, this is a different perspective and everything you guys said isn’t believable has happen, some was on that show where it’s married couples who are doctors
That's why...he should enlist the talents of a Big Jah, a Jordan Peele, and a Issa Rae.....he could be as big as Disney only if he got of out his own way. His material is regurgitated, he writes all of the material catering to the single black woman, and the woman in the marriage that is unappreciated. He did one film about A guy That's trying for his kids, but all of the other films are catered to the negative thought patterns of the black community
I wonder how many women who love this movie really looked at it realistically the way ya'll did? Because it's kinda easy to get caught up in the movie instead of dissecting it.
I think Tyler perry plays off of people emotions and insults they’re intelligence right of the back the horrible character they talked about the terrible bad guy can be seen in Tyler Perry’s new movie with Kelly Rowland Mia culpa
i love the review, but i feel like you 2 are out of the loop of whats going on in these relationships. these characters, especially Mike and Sheila are more real than y'all are putting on. These guy friend groups are super real, and there's a reason why this movie was successful. A lot of women relate to the movie so much and theres men that relate to Tasha and Jai Whites relationship.
It’s more like if Tyler Perry was a rapper? His plays would be his mixtapes and the movie would be the albums. And lately for the past 10 years? His movies weren’t the best
Man y’all were supposed to review this movie with yall wives. That would’ve been so dope!!!! Yall gotta do part two with the wives as guest that will be classic.
Oh yes that would be fire
The first movie with Janet that makes me forget that it’s Janet playing the role
Yall 100% right about the dinner scene not gettin that far. Either things immediately go left or somebody wisely says that's enough and everybody awkwardly goes to bed. Depends on the friend group 😂. But no way is Mike able to cleanly tell it all like that
If this was a real life situation somebody gonna get they ass beat or worse 💯
We have to call a spade a spade, sometimes his movies come off to demean the black man

No lies detected
I've always felt that way too. Charlemagne Tha God has a video out where he talks about that.

This might be the best review yet lol. I came in defensive But yall was spot on with yall analysis
I think "Remember the Titans" qualifies a blackbuster. I would love to hear yall take on it
It's similar to the Cosby Show effect, showing black people with prominent jobs, didn't think that was too off base... And in real life dudes do talk about stuff like that... The movie is called "Why did I get married?" They're all questioning it.
Infidel-a-Tone!!!! MF genius!! 😂😂
You guys should do temptation, I’d love your input on that. I think it’s one if not Tyler Perry best film crazily 😂
The mom was 😂😂😂😂 she was woah
Mike played the villain well though. 😅
Maaaannn Jah killing me with the Mr Perry corrections
Dawg tryna keep them guest star checks coming😂😂
Tbh..this movie is literally Soul Food and The Best Man..without the Grandma and with a divorce instead of a wedding
I definitely got The Best Man vibes but I think the second is more like Soul Food. Tyler doesn't have an original bone left in his body post his play era. He either steals from others or steal from his own past work.
Yall need to do the second movie.
Angela was the only friend who was willing to put it out there and handle Trina and Mike.

Great review! I got a recommendation for a movie review. I think you guys should review Idlewild

@@darnellwilliams8783 lol true, I know more than 1 Mike, I'm just saying we don't all have major problems when the crew hangs out

Real man talk the whole way through 💯

That lizard analogy hilarious
These two were his best movie to me.
I absolutely hated Janet's character
Yea, she was wild fake. In part 1, but part 2 she was broken so much by the death of their kid. that she couldn't fake the funk anymore.
I know I just listened to the Belly episode and you said Bunz was the worst character in black film... But Mike is right up there with him
I know men like Mike.
Please do number two next please
My boys are on….
I'm in prison behind Angela I'm sorry

I hate to disagree with both of y'all but I know a few Mike characters in real life
12:40 Everyone of those characters exist
Facts! Maybe they don't know them. But I definitely have some family members like that
46:36 46:45 angela and marcus is definitely a real life situation. You see that type of relationship all the time.
I feel like one of the best Tyler Perry movies is A Family that Preys!! ❤
Yall should do the Inkwell next
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the review to Why Did I Get Married Too!!!
The girl with married to the football player. Her role came from the days when her and Monique was at the comedy clubs in New York cussing out owners about they $
How could Shelia be the LVP? Without her you don't get Mike.
Because she's the least shady out of the 4 women.. and she went through the most.
movie was most definitely challenging to watch.
Mike is a cop. Richard T Jones is ALWAYS a cop 🤣🤣
I hate it when fictional scenes aren’t realistic
Yea Tyler perry always makes the characters do to much nobody actually acts like some of his characters
i think with Tyler Perry this is the thing he's in charge so there's nobody to say yo Tyler that's not good we should do this instead, I think NeYo has the same problem like who's gonna challenge them

Shiela: psychotic killer in training until Troy
Did Terry ( Tyler Perry) go against the Hippocratic oath? And
Angela is mvp of the series
Tone be inconsistent on these fist ratings man. Lmao
I know. I know!!!
No one would f- with Mike after being put under the bus by him. They would’ve whooped his ass.
I wonder how many women who love this movie really looked at it realistically the way ya'll did? Because it's kinda easy to get caught up in the movie instead of dissecting it.
The only tp movie where the woman was the villian was a family that preys. I hope ya'll can do a devil in a blue dress and soul men
Micheal’s character is sadly realistic. It remind’s me of men in power surrounded by a bunch of yes men.
Please review Mea Culpa 😂
Toneler Perry
Do Renaissance Man? Do you consider that a black movie? White lead but all his students were black?
Best man or this?
I think Tyler perry plays off of people emotions and insults they’re intelligence right of the back the horrible character they talked about the terrible bad guy can be seen in Tyler Perry’s new movie with Kelly Rowland Mia culpa
Hardball #MovieReview
i love the review, but i feel like you 2 are out of the loop of whats going on in these relationships. these characters, especially Mike and Sheila are more real than y'all are putting on. I've seen some of these things in real life that yall said was unbelievable. Just sayin lol
Please don't do another romcom after this
Tyler Perry films and plays are made for easy consumption. He is not that great of a film maker to me...
It’s more like if Tyler Perry was a rapper? His plays would be his mixtapes and the movie would be the albums. And lately for the past 10 years? His movies weren’t the best
Tone is off on this one...Black folks tell their business all day long..stop the cap! 😂😂😂
Your friends though?!?
Nah, I don't know these black folks you talking about, because when I came up, you kept your sh*t to yourself!💯🤣
I know men like Mike.
