The Tectite Lab: Pull out test on copper tube

- Designed to determine the ultimate tensile strength of a joint from external forces, this tests all components used within a fitting. In Pegler Yorkshire's testing lab, fittings are tested to determine whether they reach or exceed the required standards. Here, the 15mm Tectite Classic Coupler can be seen reaching a force of over 2400 N. That's over 200kg -- roughly equating to 3 average men.
There is destructive testing which this wasn't. It showed that the connector could maintain a pull of 2,400 Newtons or 539.542 Pounds force. Is that good enough? Another thing I noticed was the tester did not deburr and chamfer the copper pipe that was cut.
'You thought we were going to show you the failure-point result, didn't you? Well, we're not.' Thanks Pegler.
Daily Memo: Tie is mandatory for all personnel, including lab technicians who operate testing machinery. Dress code violations are not taken lightly.
It's the boss.... same old story
don't need to zoom in that much. Also, as a side note, I realize that this doesnt test for the fittings' abilities to not leak, but you didn't deburr any of the ends. Technically I guess one could argue that the internal mechanism for holding the pipe may be slightly compromised because of any particles or "shrapnel" because of lack of deburring and such of the ends. Also, you should zoom out a bit... But i'm not here just to crap on the video, as it does show useful information on the holding strength of the push fit connectors. So thank you for that at least.
And the point of that was?
It can take more than 200kg so it's not going to come apart too easy.
pointless video of 2012 award goes too…..
