I have only started the video yet, haven't seen what this guy had to say to "debunk" Kristi, have never even heard of this guy... and I'm absolutely certain that I will agree with your statement. Because that is just what ALL Christian apologists are.
Ever notice how the vast majority of the apologetics industry is geared towards reassuring already-believers with smart sounding word salads? Most people buying their books, tuning into their podcasts and filling their conferences have already had the “born again” experience and are looking for more reasons to believe. I know because I used to be one of them.
In the garden of Eden God provided the perfect conditions on the earth and created Adam and Eve with a sinless nature. They were free to eat from any tree in the garden except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Although they had a sinless nature God intended on bringing them into maturity and holiness through obedience. God had warned Adam of the consequences of their disobedience. However once they ate from the forbidden fruit , their eyes were opened to their own nakedness , so they covered themselves with fig leaves. But God clothed their nakedness in animal skins , which represented covering their shame through a coming Messiah who would redeem them from sins and grant them eternal life. Since they found out what evil was , the hard way , they now could see that they should choose good over evil , life over death and righteousness by faith over sin.
That's why this religion is child abuse. It literally trains children to think abuse = love and evil = good depending on who is doing it. It grooms children who can't eventually break free of this brainwashing to either a) be sociopaths and b) be victims of sociopaths.
At 73 I can say that "religiosty" was the cause of my mental health issues. I can trace this back to early childhood. It takes time and it is not easy to walk away from it, but the peace and joy of finally being free is more than worth the effort.

The problem is, there are many who are indoctrinated with those answers all of their lives, and they are told that the answers are correct. They do not examine the answer, they have simply been told from toddlerhood that it is all real despite everything pointing to it being false. It is not about logic, it is about learning discernment. This is not a gift, it is a skill that one must practice constantly in order to maintain a healthy mental balance with reality. Most religions actively discourage logical thinking. Think of a child who is having trouble understanding their multiplication tables. They can look at the chart and get the answer without having to actually think about it. They simply rely on the chart to be correct. When they can't calculate the answer, they resort to the chart. As long as they get the correct answer, the teacher will tell them they are correct, whether they understand HOW to get to that answer or not, they have pleased the teacher. They are taught to do the same thing with their religion, the CHART being whatever the preacher says must be what god wants him to say, and even if I don't understand the answer, it is the one I have ALWAYS been told is the correct one, therefore it is the one I will use. That is what we are fighting, because the same processes are used to convince a child that abuse is normal. A small boy, 5 or 6 was murdered two years ago, because the boy interrupted his father’s video game. Before the boy was murdered, he went to school with a black eye. When the teacher asked him what happened, the little boy, without missing a beat, and without thinking there was anything wrong with it, stated “My dad popped me in the eye.”. I want you to think about that for a minute, how a six year old boy, not only did not think telling someone his father hit him intentionally, but the language used, “My dad popped me in the eye.”, how many times had that boy been told by his father, that he was going to pop him one, or literally pop him in the eye? To this little boy, getting popped in the eye by one’s father was NORMAL. He had attended school, and had not yet learned that the abuse he was suffering through was not considered normal. But, think it through even further, that man, the man who killed his son, in a fit of anger, over a video game, was raised in the exact same circumstances. He was likely beaten by his father figure, and he grew up that way, thinking that what he was doing was NORMAL.

@@johngrimkowski598 You have rejected SOME of the fallacies because you lived it. I too lived a similar life, but I was given an advantage which led me to rejecting all forms of religions, and especially those based on one of the over 400 different versions of the Bible that have been invented over the last 500 years. There have been at least 20 new versions; corrected, reinterpreted, translated from the Greek, or translated from the original Hebrew, etc. in the last twenty years. They all find a reason to change the never changing word of god to what they want it to say. My recommendation to everyone that is seeking TRUTH, is to read your bible. It does not matter which version, because they all have at least some form of stupidity in them right away. Open to page 1, read the INFORMATION page, where it might still say "The Holy Word of God, The Bible, and The New Testament" the one place where it actually tells you that only the first part is the HOLY word of GOD, the rest is different. The BIBLE (for the Hebrews this was Joshua through Malachi) is simply the stories of the Hebrew people, and was not intended to be considered holy. The New Testament was invented in 400 AD. Some of the books had been around since the early 100's but nothing dates to the time of Jesus at all. They BELIEVED in the Holy Word of God part though, so they called it the New Testament which consists of The Gospels (Mathew through the Acts) and the Epistles of the Church. Revelation was written from a fevered dream of an unknown writer, it is in the text. To have called the new testament HOLY at that time would have been sacrilege because it says so in Deuteronomy, the last book of the Holy Word of God. Then once you understand that only the first five books of the entirety is supposedly the Word of God, you realize that to be a true believer and to tell others about god, then you MUST read God's Holy Word as it was intended, open to the first page and read straight through, no stopping, no jumping around, just read who and what god is. I could tell you, but that would ruin the epiphany you will have when you read it for yourself.
A child crying themselves to sleep after begging, BEGGING!, for forgiveness because they're terrified of being tortured for eternity because they said a naughty word. Yeah, that's good mental health.
Try this, "if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Not sure which child you are referring to but if you're looking for comfort given that situation it's right there in the Bible.
Kenneth Russell, it's common for children to do this. It's not hyperbole. The Bible says that there's an unforgivable sin, but it doesn't say how to avoid that sin. There are children who have fears that they're committing that sin with their thoughts. Much for the same reason that people feel an urge to jump off a cliff if they're at the edge, probably. Religious indoctrination is child abuse. Children regularly have horrific nightmares of Hell. It's abuse and trauma. It's disgusting.

Whereas, for me, Christianity was a deep threat to my own sanity and I needed to get away from it. I also came across loads of absolute nutters in Christianity; several of them in positions of power (and in non-conformist, protestant evangelicalism, many pastors are minor kings in their own communities). There was also a serious level of elitism and everyday working folk were looked upon with less favor than the well off or the 'anointed' leaders, and there was a level of manipulation, aiming to 'fix' peoples' lives and get them to toe a party line, with everyone policing everyone else. That is NOT a sane or stable environment.

If only good happens and only the right things are said to one who since he was a child by one who if who it happened to can we go wrong with that person if he/she is grown? If what we do wrong doesn't matter then no one loves no one then it doesn't matter if we're selfish. In that case does the truth matter? I'm saying i.o.w the origin of good and truth, does it exist? If it does, it is God. If so satan exist too which is the origin of sin and lies. He perverted what God said and led man astray from it. If you require punishing the person, is that really forgiveness? That's not forgiveness, that's retribution. If you owe me $5, and don't pay it, I can forgive your debt. But if you pay it, you can't turn around and say, ok, I now forgive your debt to me. This is very typical. Christians use the word "forgiveness" in a completely arbitrary way.
@@jezebelvibes I wonder if there is a Christian who can disprove this message if he reads it. By the way there are also other things to think about. If you can just remove that gift any time you want if you don't fulfill certain conditions then is life actually a gift? Are you truly the owner of that life? That sounds more like a service. You pay by fulfilling laws and if you don't you lose your life. In Christianity that payment for the service comes then at judgement day. And since all of us fail to pay for that we have according to Christians Jesus who is going to pay it for all. I find it interesting to think from time to time about fundamental things. It's quite fun.

It would be like me getting upset at a muslim for using islam to defend islam. . Or an atheist using their beliefs for defending their beliefs. . If you debate a Christian about Christianity you're going to get Christian answers. . Now if you were debating a Christian on something that had absolutely nothing to do with their beliefs and they answered using their beliefs then that would not make sense.
The giving $20 every day analogy falls apart for another reason: it's more like depositing a sum of money into a person's bank account without their knowledge or permission, tracking all of their purchases, and then demanding the money back when they spend it in a way you don't like.
To add to that, if they don’t give the money back then threaten them with eternal torture. But also tell them that it is out of love while pushing the double barrels of your shotgun against their temple. Again, because love.
How to be a Christian: 1) Assert your claims as fact. Become offended when someone doesn't believe you. 2) Become angry when someone asks you a question. 3) Hate everyone who doesn't believe the same things you believe

Also, mental health is improved in pedestrian and bicycle friendly cities with lots of public places to hang out and meet people. In North America our city design favors car centric transportation with isolated suburbs and dangerous streets for pedestrians and people on bikes. This is not conducive to a healthy community life. It's so funny after being an atheist for over a decade that I used to believe this stuff. It's so true that most Christians don't actually read their Bible. Like Penn Jillette famously said, "Nothing will get you there faster than reading the damn bible".
I read my Bible, comprehend it and believe in it. I also understand part of the Apostasy before the coming of the Lord is a great falling away from the Truth in Jesus Christ unto fables of men.
@@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr I've personally dedicated a significant amount of time to listening to numerous videos containing hours of testimonies from Christians who have renounced their faith. Their common departure seems to stem from a particular theological perspective: a theology centred on works rather than pure faith. This theology emphasises that Jesus, as our Sabbath, fulfilled the requirements of the law, allowing us to cease striving under the burden of the law, which we inherently cannot uphold. Irrespective of denominational affiliations, our shared quest is for truth, a truth rooted in Jesus Christ. The promise is that whoever places their belief in Him will attain eternal life. To address some of the points you raised: Is obedience demanded by God? Certainly, as outlined in 1 John 3:23. However, this obedience isn't dictated by adherence to the Law. The notion of righteousness through the Law would render Jesus' sacrifice in Galatians 2:21 futile. Instead, righteousness is bestowed upon all believers through simple faith in the redemptive power of the Lord's blood. This faith justifies and sanctifies, as articulated in Romans 3:25. Regarding instances of widespread destruction, such as the narratives of Noah, Sodom, and Gomorrah, it's important to recognise that God's judgement came due to the collective rejection of Him. In the case of Noah, a man of righteousness due to his faith in the Lord (Genesis 15:6), he preached the gospel for 120 years (2 Peter 2:5), yet his contemporaries turned away. Similarly, in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, had there been even a small number of righteous individuals, those cities would have been spared, as seen in Matthew 11:23, where only Lot and his family were considered righteous. The account of Nineveh offers another perspective. Despite its impending doom, the city of Nineveh, including its King, embraced faith in the Lord upon Jonah's arrival, prompting God to reconsider the planned destruction. Scriptures like Isaiah 1 provide insight into God's judgement on nations. It's important to understand that when God "destroys," He transitions individuals to their ultimate eternal destination, based on their faith. Suffering, in all its forms, is often a consequence of deviating from the divine path. Denying God's existence might be a means of evading accountability for our rebellious choices, but it doesn't invalidate His reality. Recognising God's supreme authority and our subordination is crucial. We are reliant on God far more than He is on us. Ultimately, the choice lies between accepting Jesus Christ as Lord or facing the predetermined judgement highlighted in John 3:18 and John 3:36, a decision established since time immemorial.
@@danielsimpson6885 I have pointed out what she was right about and what she was wrong about. Her basic belief system boils down to God's not real because she doesn't like Him. Great Video. One note: at 17:49 he says "Religiosity is strongly associated with Better Mental Health..." There is no "actual" proof of that either, and having worked 40+ years in the field of mental health I would say pretty much the opposite, or at least "Religiousity" (of any religion) has led to as many mental health problems in people as it has saved.
The more internet apologists I see, the more I'm starting to realize how futile it is to engage with them. If someone convinces themselves they are serving an ultimate magic purpose, and they start making money off that "servitude", there is no amount of reason that can convince them otherwise. In fact, MANY apologists have openly stated that NOTHING would ever convince them their beliefs are false. That is just the ultimate act of stubborn incredulity. It's such a sad way to live life.
@@divinegreat2552 I will surely admit there are atheist content creators that hold to unfalsifiable beliefs. It is very ironic and inconsistent. Kristi here does not seem to be one of those. She is pretty consistent and open minded. But you'll have to be more clear on what part you think is "the same with atheists". They believe they are serving a magical purpose and will be rewarded with eternal life? I don't think so. No amount of reason will change their mind? No, I think most atheists would say if God appeared to them and did something to let them know he is real and not just in their imagination, they would have no choice but to believe in him. The whole basis of scientific inquiry is grounded in the concept of falsifiability. If there is no way of determing how the hypothesis could be false, then there is no point in investigating it. See Stephen Law's analogy about dogs being spies from the planet Venus. That claim can be justified indefinitely. They have advanced technology that we can't detect, they are infinitely smarter than us, etc. You cannot prove that it is false. Does that mean it is true? This is why an honest atheist will never say that nothing can change their mind. No matter your beliefs, you should always be open to new evidence.
There are those who are looking for an off-ramp from religious literalism as they are suffering under its spell. I find it necessary to give them the strength to refute it, I could care less about convincing apologists, religious legalism and theocrats. Many of them don't even know that the Old Testament is the Hebrew Bible.
What annoys me with how some defend Lot’s action of offering his daughters to be r*ped with the “he was righteous, not perfect” argument is that they don’t stop to see how Lot knew what was right and what was wrong. Lot understood that being r*ped was wrong which is why he was concerned for the two guests at his home. Instead of calling for help or arming his whole family with weapons to protect them (which a righteous man would do), he’s ready to get rid of his daughters or at least cause permanent anguish. How is that i any way righteous?
I remember when I was in college working on my capstone essay for my undergrad in psychology and was examining the effects of social support on mental health (which the effects go without saying that it improved mental health across the board). However, in one study which examined religious communities it was highlighted how in China where there was less of a Christian community those who were Christian actually had worse mental health outcomes. Religion has nothing to do with mental health, otherwise you would not see such a disparity. It is the sense of community that religion brings people that improves mental health.

And since all of us fail to pay for that we have according to Christians Jesus who is going to pay it for all.

in Jesus Christ unto fables of men.
@@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr Shes also very beautiful but having said that, she is wrong, in my opinion.
Being purposely objective she is correct that God created Adam and Eve knowing they would sin and he did it purposely. That's what the Bible says. The Bible says that through Adam sin was introduced into the world to demonstrate God's righteousness and Christ died to sho God's love. She doesn't like it, but that's what the Bible teaches.

It's such a sad way to live life.
atheism is false.
Isn't that the same with atheists?
Yes, the cult of Christianity.
This channel is awesome. You are awesome! Thanks for the quality content and for your efforts in picking apart the fables.

@@UnbrokenBeliever we can easily say that about you and, oh let's say Mormons. How can you believe that Mormons are lying? Jesus did return to America and spoke directly to Joseph Smith. It's a continuation of Christianity, yet I bet you deny it. Why?
You get that a lot on the Belief It Or Not channel until they debunk it. Since you have to watch a few minutes of some fundamentalist preachers.
Always love takes, Kristi.
You couch my astonishment at these absurditys in the most humorous, congenial and yet effective way.
My mockery just cannot bridge the divide and serves only to make me smug.
This guy reminds me of some of my penticostal friends I was raised with regardless of our different personalities we did not like to be challenged before i moved on from the church i would often avoid a reality check because i felt something wasnt right i rolled along" in Faith" hoping to live a happy life while being ignorant to useful knowledge and experience all around me .
Kristi...👋
I LOVE your videos! Don’t ever stop. You and Brandon of MindShift have been a fresh breath of reason.
And Dan McClellan as well.
Kristi, i appreciate you. You say what needs to be said but you do it with sensitivity and compassion. Thank you!
Well the devil comes descise as a angle of light.
She encourages you to look critically at the bible and its entire message.
Loved your comments at the end about mental health Kristi. The more I deconstruct, the greater my peace.
A lot of Christian apologetics can be summarized as "make shit up."
Having worked as a psychotherapist I would question the claim that 'religiosity' is associated with mental health... Who made the claim? Who did the studies? Religious people? I've seen plenty of people with a variety of mental issues whose religion was a large causal factor in their illness. Teaching people to believe in nonsensical fairy-tales is NOT a really great basis for mental health.
My understanding is that is a twisted interpretation. People benefit from social interaction and doing things with people who have similar interests. It doesn’t have to be religious or even spiritual.
@@mjjoe76 I'd agree with your statement that people benefit from social interaction, certainly... and also with the idea that such interaction doesn't need to be religious or even spiritual to be of benefit to both mental and physical health...
But it's also true that many people have mental problems which are actually caused by their religions, at least in large part... (though maybe not totally; mental illness is usually down to multiple causes...)
I'm not sure what you are saying is a 'twisted interpretation'... My post? Kristi's video? Or the claim that 'religion is better for mental health than atheism'?
When I was a freshman in college, I was at a college with religious influence. I had a friend who talked about a religious experience she had had with some high school classmates. I thought it was weird I had never experienced anything remotely close to that, and it was weird she had. I didn't understand someone saying they felt the presence of God when they were praying or whatever, as though God were touching all of them in that moment and flowing through them. That's great for her, I guess. Still, it's not a sensation I have ever experienced nor can I really comprehend, but even all these years later.
Check out John Wathey's book on the illusion of God's presence.
It's all about the psychological factors behind the experience some people have of a presence when they have primed themselves for a "religious experience".
@@rainbowkrampusbeen looking for something like this. Thank you for the recommendation.
Lots of folks are predisposed to reacting strongly to strong emotional stimulus. You and I are not of this group.
@@FinHammer You can hear an interview with him over at MythVision. Really good stuff.
Of all the comments on here I like this one the most.
.
Most comments here are just hate. Hate for Christians.
.
This comment though seems to just be you simply not understanding.
.
Thank you.

Many people have claimed to have experiences with God or angels. I am not them and I was not there, so I can't say
if it is true or not. I do believe that what they say is possible though.
.
Some people though do lie. They do this in order to seem more righteous.
They think that these experiences give them some sort of authority over others.
.
"You should be more like me." attitude.
.
I'm a Christian, and I have experienced what I would call God's presence. I will explain.
You can choose to believe what I say or not. It's up to you.

No I have not seen God.
.
No I have not talked to God.
.
No I did not "feel that God was there with me."
One of the worst things religion does is corrupt what love is. Far too many abusers have hidden safely in the pews because of it.
