hello, i need conseils ! i can do every moovement of scratch like flare, swing flare etc...but some of this, i can do the speed let's say speed 1 very slow, 2 and 3 but i can go further and go to speed "4" without doing bad movement with de cross. who had the secret to go quickly.?
Word. This is the latest kut I've been workin on. Cool to see a tutorial on it. I think it sounds a bit better to start a little further into the sample though just like when doing a boomerang. Also for me I like to think of it as a set of 2 babies in a row then repeat. I find you get more of an accent at the start of each repitition that way.
I'm in full agreement. I've noticed a trend of people incorrectly labeling combinations w/ cuts/transforms/stabs as flare combinations. I don't get it. And, a delayed flare is a technique, but something very different.
Hey wassup Dirty Digits. Great tutorial dude. I think i've nailed the skratch but slow. When i try to do it fast, it just sounds a mess. Guess its practise practise practise! I see you have other tutorials i.e. Boomerang & Autbahn etc .... any more available? I agree with some of the other comments saying, good teacher , easy to understand!
is it the same if you leave the fader open after the transforms? as i dont seen the need to close the fader as you are back at the start of the sample...
Baby scratch with stab and backstab. No flare at all in this combo. WTF !? Flare is done by starting with the fader open and perform a "click" (one, two, three click) in the middle of the sound.. We don't see that in the combo.
ITS A KEEP ITS ABOUT PAYING IT FORWARD DAM DAM DAM SOME CATS JUS DONT' GET IT....THIS A KEEPER..THANKS YO..I'M JUS LEARNING SO I'M GLAD U WILLING TO HELP
Starting with the fader closed automatically makes it a non flare scratch. In fact, since you're not clicking anywhere near the middle of the sample, it's not a flare.
z-trip A-frame from H'el(lion) or good job giving a end of the beginning hip-hop 101 lesson without to much accent but still Holden the stoner spirit BON*=Grippatiet

Dirty Digits, U R The Man!
Good Teacher. I always understand Digits instructions!
really learning from these tutorials, thanks man.
damn them some dirty ass heavily used records, great video
that is some intense record burn!
@mrdan1210 you could apply the same question to many other scratches. It keeps the sounds clean and distinct.
Great video! Easy to understand and a killer scratch to learn :D
really well done. thanks!
great vid! very good explanation!!!
I've been trying to figure that out for like six months, I can't believe it's so simple LOL
hi my i ask where i can get that DJ background ? would love that on my wall
@germania1 check delayed flares out that should clear things up for u

@SamyRF EVERY professional fast scratch sounds sick.

sounds funky at 2.08.

@ruslanio i found it now why is it that easy to find?
The boomerang and the swing flare sound very similar.
Tank Yu Sensei
tnx man...i try to do this
Damn looks easier than a regular one click flare. I guess it's because this scratch starts and stops with the fader closed.
man im at the point where I've forgotten almost all the specific scratch technique names and just flow with it
I agree with germania1.....its a Baby - Chirp combo...
DopeSick... Thanks!
@tron69snipes But Digits is not talking about Salsa????
No, a chirp combination shouldn't have the stab that he's using, but I almost agree w/ you.
I didn't know Yella Wolf dj's too!
It sounds like
A baby scratch and a chirp. But the rhythm is different to make it loop
You.the best as a ticher I have idea know
Ready?

fader hand movement is the same exact thing like the 2 click flare.... that´s why
peaceee
DD looks like Pauly Shore.
Flares are open fader scratches... this is a closed fader scratch... it should be called a swing transform
im surprised no haters have disliked!
Mentoring us, Obi-wan is, to be killers

It sounds familliar to "Baby chirp" -_-
Yet still, starting with the fader closed gives you more possibilities. You can switch to autobans, boomerangs, and delayed flares very quickly.
Starting with the fader closed automatically makes it a non flare scratch. In fact, since you're not clicking anywhere near the middle of the sample, it's not a flare.
Not easy to go fast on this one 😋
I got the same gagball record. In worst condition than yours. Lol
CUT!
wow, that scratch sounds sexy o.O
show us yours..

It's very strange way it's called a swing flare. It does not start or end open. Should be called slice and dice!
what just happened??
Any advice for speeding it up. I can only get it double time comfortably at like 90bpm. :-(
uhh that is the opposite of a flare
totaally confused about the flow after 2:10....
Vinyl is too dirty. Respect the vinyl. Wash your hands before scratch, clean the vinyl with 90% alcohol or special cleaniser.
No need to call it “flare”
where did he get the aww sound
from just about any battle record. ahhh from fab5freddy's change the beat 12".
Thanks
