    Mad respect for your content! As a drummer and drum teacher, you have some of the best scratch tutorials online! You give thorough explanations, and it inspires you to immediate hit the turntables and apply. Learning scratches is similar to learning drumming rudiments to build up your vocabulary- it’s been fun learning from all of your videos! Keep up the wonderful content!

    Man I was I could learn from you. The way you describe every move seem so simple...

    Ok i think the key to getting this down properly is to start real slow - Increase speed gradually. Practice that speed for a few days then rest. Muscle memory is definitely the key here. I never thought i would get anywhere near the speed, but having practiced for just over a week i can definitely say I've almost got it :) Another few weeks and i should be there. Its frustrating at first because it seems impossible but it does eventually work. Practice, rest, practice, rest etc.

      devyn mitchell yer man! I managed to get 3 click flares and autobahns locked down too since then. still practicing tho!

    • @deejayspillz
      @deejayspillz 7 лет назад

      What order do you recommend learning them in? I want to dive right into the autobahn, but it probably isn't the best idea lol

    • @NastyRhythm
      @NastyRhythm 7 лет назад +1

      There's no right or wrong order to learn them tbh. Some people will just pick it up easily, where as others (like myself) have to really work at it. I learnt the swing flare before i learnt 2 click flares which is a bit odd, i don't know why but for me the swing flare helped me get that 2 click 'bounce' movement of the fader. Boomerangs and Autobahns were pretty easy to learn after this, and then 3 click flares came soon after. The more you practice the more refined you become, and the easier it is to pull them off. What i will say is that it is much better to be accurate at a slower speed than sloppy going faster. I started slow as hell, and just upped the tempo bit by bit. It aches your wrist at first and can be so frustrating, but if you put the effort and time in then you will start to develop your scratches. There's a dude on here goes by the name DJ Remy - check out his tutorials too, they helped me massively. Always record your sessions so you can listen to what sounds good and what needs improving.

      alyraver I appreciate the detailed response bro! That's some great advice. I've been doing basic scratches for way too long. Definitely need to step up my game. I'll check out Dj Remy's vids. Take care man.

    Is there a reason your not doing the second part as a chirp? It looks like chirps but the first half is open fader second half is a chirp. But there is a bounce in it and I can’t tell what I’m doing wrong

  • @djaward

    @ScratchdjAcademy my question to you is, as a beginner dj, how do you know what hand to use to control the fader and what hand to use to control the record?

    Sounds like a double chirp

  • @djpheeze
    @djpheeze 9 лет назад +4

    If you're doing it at the beginning of the sound, isn't the first click redundant? Isn't this just a 1-2 baby scratch followed by a 1-2 chirp? Am I missing something?

    • @jessetutor6511
      @jessetutor6511 8 лет назад +2

      +djpheeze the first step of opening the fader is redundant but you need to bring the fader closed as you pull the record back else you end up with an open fader when you get to the dicing section.

    • @seanarboleda8854
      @seanarboleda8854 6 лет назад +2

      djpheeze I feel like he’s doing chirps only the first chirp is open and the second chirp is closed. But there is a bounce in the skratch loop and I can’t figure it out

    • @DJEasybuckets
      @DJEasybuckets 4 года назад

      its a combination with the slice and dice so learn those two first then this will be easier. when it comes to fader movement if you have the habit of bouncing the fader with 2 click scratches this will also be a lot easier to learn

    • @barrywatts8501
      @barrywatts8501 3 года назад

      @@DJEasybuckets yeah defo learn to two click. Praticing 2 click orbits to get the two click thing.

    • @murrayclarke1715
      @murrayclarke1715 Год назад

      I don’t understand. When everyone says “like a 2 click” but there’s 3 clicks surely? I can do slow double time orbits and boomerangs. I can do the swing flare slowly on the beat at 100 BPM but I’m not getting much faster! Help?!?

    Aaar so learn swing flare first then boomerang then autobhan makes sense. All very simular.

    • @mb2776
      @mb2776 3 года назад

      yep. all of them are 2 clicks. once u get the 2 click flare down, all those scratches are kinda similar exept the 2 click flare starts and ends with the fader open, as u probably allready know. dopez made a video about this, called "learn your 2 clicks"

      DJ Flare invented the flare, not this. Someone named this the swing flare, but it's not even close to a flare, that is what I was saying. Anyone know why it's called a swing flare?

    • @djcarbontt
      @djcarbontt 8 лет назад

      +Stingray ...as you increase the speed it's basically a two click flare fader movement dropping on two babies. You learn it like so then through practice you begin to feel (and hear) the flare. (imho)
