Love rosemary and Co. Sable brushes. Tested against many and was pleased. Their customer service 4 years ago was outstanding. I told her what I wanted in a brush and she helped me finish picking which I wanted...I was impressed...

I also bought seconds this February: first I ordered synthetics bundle to get some brushes for my acrylic experiments as I had almost none in my collection, but when they arrived I immediately ordered naturals as well and it was also a nice set that I use now for watercolors. Thinking of ordering travel watercolor set next year

I love my Rosemary natural hair brushes, especially squirrel quills. I noticed though, that many of the brushes didn't really match the dimensions given, and some were out of order, like I think my 2 is way bigger than the 4. I decided not to worry and just ignore the numbers, LOL. I assumed that it's difficult to control the dimensions on those ones. Anyway, your large one is the same size as my #12, which was $71.19 USD. (There are quite a few brush sizes they are sold out of, they used to go up to 16!!) That and the #4 brush are normally nearly $100 right there.
Your #4 brush has a slight crack in the handle -- or maybe just the varnish on the handle? I assume that's why it's a second. And some of them must have been seconds due to an imperfect embossing on the handle, like the Red Dot, yet the performance of the brush is totally unaffected. What a deal.
I guess maybe the learning is, since you know you are a "big brush painter," you could always ask for sizes 8 and up or something, if there is a next time, to avoid too many tiny brushes. A lot of watercolorists in England are the fussy sort, spending ages with a tiny brush, so some folks might love that. They did give you a nice big size range!!
They definitely included some very oddball brushes, like the pink handle and the others that were repainted. Limited edition, haha! As far as the oil painting brushes, yeah, it's fine to include one you can use for scumbling, trees, etc. But not several, if you specified watermedia! I'm glad they went to your friend who can use them. And you got GREAT brushes back in payment!!! The swords and smaller quills look much better and more fun for you.
For natural hair brushes, Rosemary's prices are so reasonable and their products are so high quality, you will still save plenty of money even with the shipping! I mean, the shipping cost is never actually free, it's built in. Charging separately is actually more honest and transparent. Of course, it's not economical to buy just one brush, so save up for several. You won't be disappointed. If you want only synthetic though, don't bother, buy a brand that is made in your country.
I ordered a seconds bundle also, and loved each if them. I was surprised they were seconds. I liked the "pink #201" I received also.
riiiight? same here. i feel like half my bunch were basically new and the other half had minor defects. yesss i like the pink one as well hehe~ glad u could relate :D
Thank you for the info, I didn’t know about the seconds bundles so will look into that. I really like their red dot spotters. They were recommended by Rae from The Wonders of Watercolour and they are great for brush control and lifting as they have shorter bristles. I also like the eraser brushes to correct mistakes. I haven’t tried their quills as I’m very happy with my DaVinci Casaneos.
you're welcome ;D yep, i have a couple other vids about the sale on my channel if you want to check those out. this year they had bundles of synthetics, naturals, miniatures, and travel brushes. ahh yeah, i've heard the casaneos are great but haven't tried them.

Hmmmm, which brushes would I buy…? I’d like to try their Sienna line and their Red Dot line. I’m especially interested in swords and triangular brushes.
personally i wouldn't buy the sienna again, i'm not too fond of the bristles. i prefer the red dot which is good, highly recommend :D oohh i haven't tried any triangular brushes yet, that'd be fun :D
@@PaintinHiding I know! Triangular brushes sound like round brushes that aren’t round 🤣. I just realised that that sentence doesn’t make any sense 😂😂😂
It looks like they are no longer offering "Seconds Bundles". The link is dead, and nothing comes up on their website when you search for "Seconds"...
they don't offer it all year round. this year 2022, they offered it in february. for 2021, it was january i believe. it's something they had on offer due to covid situation i believe. i'm not sure if they're gonna offer Seconds Bundles in 2023 but you can wait and see. probably around january-march.

Is Seconds Bundle like a blind box?
i’d say 30% blind as you won’t know exactly what you’ll be getting. however, in the past few years, they’ve offered separate bundles for oils, watercolor, multiple purpose, etc…. and you can choose natural hair, synthetic, or mixed. there have also been travel brush seconds bundles that have been really popular. u can take a look at what others have received for an idea as well. i remember putting those pics in one of my rosemary videos.

yeah, they dont really announce it much. i happened to have been on instagram around the time they did so was lucky in that sense. i think in 2021 they did it in january and for this year it was back in february. so i suggest keeping your eye out on their instagram page from new years onwards. like i said, they might not do it in 2023 but purely depends on how much stock they have i suppose. btw, i think Silver Brushes also offers seconds bundles but i really don't know when or how they do it.
