    Back from holidays just hours ago, I got mine and immediately went for a short break-in run. My first impression was they will perform exceptionally well for my running style and foot structure.
    Midsole is perfect in comfort and energy return; outsole is grippy as a F1 tyre. Icing on the cake, I paid them 32.5 euros less than usual retail ...
    Conclusion: it's very likely I'll switch to ASICS for my road shoes rotation too, after several pairs of Adidas (which of course I love).

    Was waiting for this one, thanks Loyd. I was considering this shoe for the first section of my first 100 miler, but I think I’ll pass for now. Hopefully Catamount 2/Agility Peak 5/Caldera 6 will be a winning combo

    I remain unconvinced that the marriage of carbon plates and trail running is a good thing. I recommend a divorce.

      Perhaps, but the marriage is popular among the elites (notable exception of Salomon).

      I couldn't agree with this comment any more!!!! The plates just don't work. I have both fujispeed 2 and tecton X 2 and they just don't work for me. I wish they did because i spent so much money on them.

    • @Run4Adventure

      Carbon plates are popular among the elites because they are paid by the brands to wear. They're also running at a completely different level compared to us mortals 👍

    I used carbon-plated running shoes for a few years, during which I observed increased stiffness in my hamstrings and glutes. After transitioning to regular trail shoes, the tightness in my hamstrings resolved. Initially, I experienced greater fatigue in my glutes and ankles with non carbon trail shoes. Based on my experience, prolonged use of carbon-plated shoes has lead to a reduced range of motion in the glutes, calves, and ankles, potentially due to the altered running biomechanics.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  3 месяца назад +1

      I totally agree, this is why I always say it’s not great to run in carbon plated shoes all the time. Using them in races isn’t a problem but using them all the time can lead to issues 👍

    Hey Loyd! I'm a big fan of what Asics has been doing lately but how does the plate feel at slower paces? I really loved the Endorphin Edge but realistically on long, tech-y trail runs im usually moving pretty slow and I didnt feel like I was getting much out of the Saucony one late into a race when im doing 9 min miles for many miles... is this any better? Love that Blast +

    Thats some great laces. This is so similar to magic speed 3. But do you feel the effect of the plate on the trail? I am not sure you need the plate in trail unless for me it is for dirt track and relative short distance.

  • @gudboyngdisyerto

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  10 месяцев назад

      I'd say the FujiSpeed sizes up a bit longer compared to the Xodus Ultra. You could wear the FujiSpeed 2 for 100k, I personally wouldn't because of the stiff carbon plate. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏😊

    Hi Loyd my main bug bare with trail shoes is that they are so bulky. I purchased the Asics Fugi lite 2 (non carbon) and absolutely love it for my faster runs on the trails it feels non atrucive on foot. I use the Asics trabuco max 2 for slower paces. I know you like the Saucony ultra but i find it heavy feeling and cumbersome. I also have the NB Hierro which i also like it sort of sits between the two Asics shoes in terms of performance and feel.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Год назад +1

      That's the thing with running shoes Keith, it's so personal and every runner feels shoes differently 🤔
      I'm surprised you find the Xodus Ultra feels heavy and cumbersome, especially compared to the heavier NB Hierro?

      These were worn to win the world championship short trail and OCC this year. I also think they do pretty good on technical. Personally, they are too narrow and stiff for me to do a long race, but didn't have a problem on technical terrain.
