Thank you for these videos! I was so down on myself for dropping out of nursing, i hated it! Never knew about surg tech, and now I Thank God for my “failures” bc now im literally in love. Now I see a a black WOMEN as a surg tech! Ugh yes!!!😫. Also the answer to your question Marcaine: lasts longer but takes longer to start the effects Lidocaine: is very quick on numbing pain but doesn’t last as long. (Normally given outpatient care) (Maybe otc drug as well) I hope I’m right😭✨❤️
I'm glad you found my videos! I'll be posting regularly(weekkly) and shaaring all that I've learned. Please lmk if there is anything you'd like me to make a video about.
It's a requirement now to have an associates degree with a surgical tech certification. It's not all about spending money for school, I'm getting help with financial aid and there are plenty of scholarships that will help pay for the school. I finished all my core and prerequisites classes and was accepted into the limited ST program. Will be starting the ST classes in 2 weeks and it's a 2 year program, I'm really excited to begin. I think it's a privilege to say I have a degree and a certification with a career that you want to be in. I'm pretty sure that the starting pay wages will be changing now if it hasn't already since to be a ST requires a degree.
I'm glad you chose the right path for you. It's been talked of an associates degree being a requirement, but it isn't at the moment. Wishing you all the best in your #JourneyToTheOR you're going to love it!
Protamine sulfate reverse Hep...and lidocaine kicks in faster but marcaine last longer in the body. Lidocaine w/ Epi can also control bleeding. Another thing it can be used for is contractions I believe.
There's no technical colleges around? I'm sorry, that really sucks😕 I love this field, but I definitely feel like these schools exploit students sometimes with these outrageous rates and sometime not keeping there word.
Just seeing this video great , the associate degree is all the opportunity that offered in my area , so that’s my route and okay and I sure not as expensive as some private schools in my area or tech schools are so costly , but I do wish there was other options
Did you have to take the scholastic level exam to get into school? Love your videos! I'm looking to start in the Fall, thankful to be able to get the perspective from another black woman :) I am super nervous but excited.
How do you get certified as a surgical tech? I live in a rural area with only one hospital and college with no surgical tech program. I was considering going to a trade school for an aas but dont want to waste money. I just want to be qualified to be a surgical tech.

Yea it depends on where you go to , but now they are requiring an associates. Some of em!
I’m in certificate program
That may be the case for some places. Plenty places only hire people with only a certification and no degree is required.
Yeah I work as an ST in arkansas and don't have degree just certification.
Marcaine is longer acting and are used for spinal blocks. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic
Thank you for your videos! After you have been a CST, what can you do next as far as another certificate or bachelors degree in ST?

I understand bleeding that’s it that’s all 😭
sadly in southern california
no community college offers surgical tech program. they are all private and tuition is between $30,000-50,000

As a surgical tech are you given an assignment are you given a list of surgical tools to open for that particular assignment?
Was your pharmacology course enough or did you get better at it once you got to the hospital?
What if there are only private schools in my city?
Can you do another Q and A?
Absolutely! Any particular question you have?
Is this field possible as a pre med college student
