Wow.. and Im here in NY… moved in 4 month ago and applying to surgical tech program all over again.. because they dont They don't consider my 2-year program I did in Brazil. Even though I have been working on surgical tech for 14 years. even giving classes throughout the states of Brazil on robotic surgery tech.. im struggling here.. :((
Who does do all those things that the surgeon doesn't do. Put on the dressings, wake the patient up, etc.
The only video I found with the most information. Thank you so much for this! :)
What about Preppy? They offer preparation for NCST - is this legit?
Yikes... never heard of the NCST.
Hello! I am new to this channel. I appreciate you posting this. I'm not so sure of hiring candidates right off the street with no experience. I have researched online hiring platforms and none have stated they would hire with no formal education in the surgical technology field. All stated that the candidate hiring requirements were a degree from a surgical tech program.
Hi Sherry! Maybe not literally "right off the street" but some facilities are hiring candidates with no experience and training them on the job. I've seen/heard of this happening with internal staff. Instead of hiring a new graduate, some will hire an already internal employee with no surgical experience.
Do surgical techs have to lay out medication as well as surgical tools?
I hope you sued either the surgeon or the hospital when you got poked
Do it all! Diversity will give you more value.
What is your IG ACCOUNT? This makes a big difference be cause I want to get started but was confused about all the terminology. 1:38

Theres a huge shortage of CST's where I work. My employer is currently offering full scholarships to employees to go to ST school and allowing them to work 12 hrs a week while still paying them for 40hrs in exchange for agreeing to work for 2yrs as a CST after graduation. Theyre paying 28/hr. But they are deff NOT hiring people with no training or exp.
What state is this? **if you don’t mind me asking
By far the best and most concise video on this topic, i've seen on the plateform. Thank you!
AMAZING Description sis!!!! I start the program next month🤗
hello u r gmail
You’re gorgeous!Great content very helpful
And that’s in a lot of job capacities. What is the Big Deal. The go getter who doesn’t not mind standing on there feet , do not complain, Will not pass out at the sight of Blood Deserves the POSITION! Period! And yes get a certificate to place on your resume! My certifications add up to A degree ( to be Honest ) ? ! And yes I started at a Trauma 1 hospital ( I Was not Lazy ). I had energy to keep up . 😂 it’s not For everyone I began in the Cardiology department but prior was first Patient Registration then went to non invasive Cardiology!
It’s not as if there doing the surgery. But if you have a medical background Why Not . What’s the Big Deal . If you’re open to Learning. And no offense the Streets that’s a little Dramatic 😮.
Doing the surgery? No. But until you've been in a situation where the surgical tech is not properly educated/trained and the patient's life is at risk, you won't understand.
It’s been like that for over 15 20 Years . But it was more so Training hospitals. But person whom really wanted to train did very well if you had basics. That’s with a lot of jobs .
i just got a job as a Surgical Tech in a Main OR and am a CNA with 10 years Experience. I am taking full advantage of this opportunity. 😄✌.
I'm currently in a school where's doesn't offer no diploma and degree it's only the certificate But you only have access to take T-CS (NCCT) is that okay?
Most facilities allow it. But the CSt is better known. I also foresee more legislative changes in the future about certification.
Can you please make a video discussing different surgical technology areas of specialty, like cardiac, orthopedic, plastic surgery, vascular, general surgery, neuro, etc... ?
At our hospital they offer the surgical program. We have to interview for the program to get in . I’m an SPD TECH thinking of applying for the program next year. We have a lot of knowledge when it comes to trays and surgical instruments. The benefit of this program is that we dont pay anything out of pocket and we get paid while in training.
The best training is on the job training and everyone has to start off somewhere. You prefer the positions to not be filled at all and be extremely short staff or hire someone who can get training and be successful at the job ?
I scrubbed almost 20 years ago left had a career in government started my own business and during Covid things changed so business didn’t do good and just been doing jobs that I really didn’t care for just to keep busy. After watching this and I don’t even know how this even popped up but I might go back into scrubbing
Apprenticeships and On the Job…it’s how American’s used to be trained for many things. Full circle. As AI becomes more involved, this will factor in even more. 🤷🏽♀️
Yupp advent health has been bringing in LPNs to scrub. I wonder how much infection rate will be impacted by bringing others in.
Wyt dudes go mentally ill over blk girls like her and I'm one of them
Ill be starting my surgical tech this August 😊😅
I hope you're enjoying it!
Funny how came across this video. I was doing research on surgical tech jobs and when i went to see job openings .... It literally sounded like .. they would train you on the job!! With the stipulation ,that you would get your certs etc LATER!! And i was like, I must be tired because that couldn't be true....😮. I also saw another job for phlebotomy but again... They would train you on the job. No experience needed 😮.... This is in Chicago.
Hello.in USA .he crest test license is needed..😁
on the job training will always be better than a text book student. Speaking from years of experience in top level management. No book is gonna train you better than hands on experience.
Yesss. I agree, hands on experience is the best training.
currently experiencing this now lol. went through months of textbook for sterile processing. im in clincials right now and learning so much more in less than 2 weeks.
I partially disagree. There are fundamentals that need to be learned before people walking into an OR. Once those are down, the hands on experience is absolutely necessary. The problem is the OJT cuts way too many corners, from what I have seen.
Honestly surgical tech school was almost a waste of time. I learned everything I know on the job. Thankfully I went to surgical tech school before you needed an associates. My program from start to getting hired was less than a year. You really want to be a good surgical tech? Go work at a trauma center, you’ll learn WAY more than tech school could ever teach you. All surgical tech school really needs to be is teaching you the instruments, teaching you sterile technique, and doing fake surgeries in lab. Everything else is a waste of time.
Where can I get in. Cna here just saying willing to learn. ❤after watching the full video. There are not a lot of school promoting this field. However they prefer that I stay a cna. I went to school for med assistant and couldn't find a job when moved states so I went back to cna. Health care is crazy these days. LPNs are DONs that's crazy. Facilities with only one RN on staff. That's bonkers!
Thank you for this vural view on what is happening in the Healthcare Industry. Now can we please t alk about the frames you are wearing. I would love to know the brand name. Thank you
Frames are from Zeelool!
any surgical technologist get job in Canada or US as like nurse and which one exam is compulsory please guide me
2 years wow that's crazy people be nurses in 2 years
I hade no training I was a security guard but ,3 years in and the shit
I did on the job training it was great I'm better than the schooled people
Ty very clear.
I understand a lpn doing that job
Is it wrong to get certification CST?? Or should they do the degree program? Like basically does it matter with being hired and pay? Please advise... Thank you..
I was just about to ask that too. I think she said a certification is valid, but people tend to use the term the wrong way. People will use it interchangeably with either diploma/degree. Hopefully this helps.
You do need the CST certification
Thank you, Thank you and THANK YOU!!! New Subbie here! I'm an LPN and I literally just applied for a position and was doing some research. When I stumbled on your video, I gained so much clarity. After watching your video, I'm not sure I want to do it because I don't think it's fair to make more money than the person who is responsible for training you. As a nurse, I think it is an open door for jealousy and animosity. What do you think?
Is there a big difference between the CST and the TS-C?
They're the same thing. It just depends on the asociación who certifize you who gives you the title.
The difference is the organizations. AST is actually strictly all about Surgical Techs. The other isn't only an entity that distributes different test.
Can you make a video about your lay as a traveler? We all want to see the money 💰 😂
Pay?
I, too, am a traveler. Been teching for close to 20 years now. Back in the day LPNs were given the opportunity for on OJT for only small cases. Boob jobs, carpet tunnels, and minor washouts of feet and things. But recently I worked at a facility that didn't require their techs to be certified (which is a whole other issue in itself) and hired some random person with no medical background. She was by no means an idiot but she was being forced to learn big ortho and spine cases. As well as robots and trauma. She was always carrying her folder which was filld with notes and very eager to learn all for a lesser salary the her coworkers of course. Despite her good efforts. She was very unsafe. It was very hard for her to grasp the idea of the differences between clean and sterile. On that alone she would of been fired in week two. But because the hospital hired her specifically for OJT mistakes are allowed with her. Specimens were tossed, cross contamination for A&P repairs dealing with bowel. Very sad. Facilities like this need to loose their surgery license
Thank You
I got accepted into for the surgical tech program and I have to do general studies first and I'm very interested in it. I like your content!
Thank you! I take my certification on 5/8! great refresher for the Vocabulary!
Good luck!!
@@fortheloveofsurgery Thank you! I passed with FLYING COLORS
