My hair transplant journey: from pre- to 18 months after

  • If there's one thing I've learnt from having a hair transplant it's that there is no point keeping it a secret. They're gonna notice you're not bald anymore. You'll also find LOADS of people are curious about it and considering it for themselves.
    So with that in mind, here is my journey. Open and honest, warts and all, from beginning to end. From baldie to... not so baldie!
    If you're considering a hair transplant, do the research. Ask questions. Know what you're getting yourself into. Check out this video or others. Read articles. And most of all, if you go through with it, BE PATIENT. Results. Take. Time!

    Brother Kev, I waited until I was 71 (three years ago) to have an FUT operation. Done here in California, it cost about $9,000 USD (almost 5,000 grafts), was painful for a full month afterwards, then itchy for months after that. Pre-operation, I looked a LOT like you -- a donor area in the back but pretty damn bald on top. Nine months later, I looked like a different person and now wonder why I didn't make the decision when I was in my 50s. Thanks for this vid and bravo for your bravery. You look great now !!!

    Good video, nice humorous touch, especially the fringe part 😀. Takes away a little anxiety some may have thinking about the procedure. I had my procedure done 4 months ago. Still early stages but i can see improvement. Good luck with yours, you’ve got good results, clear improvement from how it was before. Have you had the PRP injections done to your transplanted area? Apparently that thickens the planted hair. It can be done in the U.K.

    I think in addition to the transplant, for the best or even better results, you have to use (or try) Midoxidol and/or Finasteride (Propecia). And maybe even 1 or more other therapies too. Everything counts (with caution of course) in this battle. For him and others that suffer from such strong male pattern baldness. But I was thrilled when he was able to blow up and felt his top hair move once again. So exciting to see.

    Hi Kevin, i have tried to locate a real life video of someone undergoing a hair transplants as I was considering getting it done, I decided to take the plunge and here I am on day 5 and I found your video, it was one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen on RUclips, you have a honest and hilarious way of expressing your thoughts and views pal and I must say I laughed a lot through the video. You look great and I'm glad you are happy with your results. Take care of yourself and stay safe pal. 🙏

      @@jamiesherry8116 The clinic gave me some medicated shampoo and vitamins (if you get the bigger packs it won’t be accepted in your hand luggage and it’ll need to go in a suitcase). I couldn’t tell you what they were called as it was written in Turkish! Once finished I switched to a salon quality ‘revitalising’ shampoo for thinning hair. I also got hair vitamins from Holland and Barrett. They sell hair vitamin gummies too which help nails also. But any decent quality supplement for hair growth/support would work. I took them for 18 months though many people I know who went through this stopped after 3 months.

      @@kevinpittuckbennett Thanks for the advice, I dodged the bullet with bringing home the medication shampoos, I just threw them in the case and hoped for the best, once they passed security it took the pressure of me as I knew if they noticed they would be taken off me 😊. I'll look in a store here for some advice on the supplements. 18 months taking supplements would not bother me. Again thanks for the reply and stay safe. 🙏

    Kev I actually watched the whole video from start to finish. Normally I click on the next 1 after a few minutes. You seriously look younger 18 months on. I'm contemplating getting a hair transplant but the after care taking loads of ' pills and potions ' as u put it, is putting me off. I don't think I would need as many grafts as you had and would pay the price you paid for less grafts but the research I've done so far suggests not to go to the cheaper places, your experience seems fine though.

    • @kevinpittuckbennett
      @kevinpittuckbennett  3 года назад

      Thanks Twenty4. I’ve had a few snide comments on here recently so that is good to hear. And watching it all the way through? I’m honoured. 😄 The aftercare is a pain for the first two weeks but easy after that. And yeah, the results are good fir what I paid. Any extra money is going to be going on being spoken to in English and treated as a human rather than a slab of meat. I’d use them again, no issues at all.

      @@kevinpittuckbennett Yeah good video seems good value for money. I reckon a lot of the pills and potions and just for extra revenue like any company. The gels will be necessary at first for the healing process. The off putting thing for me is the injections and if something goes wrong in foreign lands. Also if its worth it if you are already very bald already. No bothered about the crown its the front both sides too far gone. What you think?
