The twisted part is that the guy who got stabbed up at the beginning was likely a predator. Nobody takes you under his wing in jail unless he is expecting something very specific from you. That traumatizing experience literally saved Todd's ass.
I always wondered if the writers did this as a joke for how prison actually is or if this is just how Todd being how Todd is, sees everyone in prison and the things that are said are just nicer versions of what’s actually being said
My cousin was there for a while and he said they were pretty chill and funny but there were times when they got serious he almost got in fights but he staid low so he wouldn’t get in trouble and mostly read books and lifted weights he said they helped him motivate with getting in shape his better then ever he’s more positive then he use to be
This is like a telltale adventure game where you have to pick between two different people that will both not be part of the story for long afterwards anyway.
The prisoners who escaped later this episode can be seen in random episodes in the background. In bojack's restaurant, the ghostwriter convention, and more. A very random detail but kudos to the writers 😅
"You put a pretty good spin on Nazi's" see the sad thing is, how the neo-nazi is acting is not actually uncommon, its very easy to assume "hey this guys isnt so bad" when theyre not screaming anti-semitic slurs or the like Like I know its played like a joke, Todd just kinda thrives no matter what happens or where he is but the sad part is that is literally how the likes of neo-nazi's radicalize people, by seeming not as bad as everyone says, then you get to know them, they start talking about their ideologies, youd be surprised how convincing someone can be when theyre percieved as "nice"
OneHappySquid The writing is pretty much the same. It’s just mainly centered around the comedic aspect of the show. Raphael Waksberg (the creator of Bojack) said that this whole formula was meticulously crafted to give the illusion that the show was just another adult animated cartoon. It’s not till the episode "Say Anything" where the tonal shift truly happens. I’d personally argue this episode was amazing because it created the whole Hollywoo gag that runs for the rest of the show.

i’m sure they weren’t thinking that deeply about it…💀
Thanks because I was starting to feel bad for the nice guy

Good think the nazis never asked about Todd's last name.

It's just that good things happen to Todd, like his good nature just attract good vibes and put everybody around him in good mood.

I love how Todd is automatically charismatic by just being himself
You'd think Jesse would be more wary about ganging up with the Nazis after what happened in the desert
Lmao that stabbing part man had me laughing so hard look at his face 😂
Caught me way off guard. I was laughing so hard it hurt. After that the series had me hooked.
Good thing the show is so constantly uproariously funny and cheerful!.... :|
I was fucking wheezing lmao
I love the stabbing man's face and literally how no one reacts to the stabbing
Brutally hilarious
I love how Todd uses a cap to protect his cap in the shower
I love the fact that Todd can be in both of those gangs, because he is white and also Chavez, i just tought that now xd

It's kind of terrible, but "prison"-episodes of animated shows have a long tradition of being hilarious and this is no exception
I still can't believe that Todd is Aaron Paul
He's very good at playing a young man abused by an older figure he used to respect.
And who got involved with Neo-Nazis.
And also being innocently dumb
