@@kirstenlouisemedina762 she’s also very young, and she jsut recently started singing live in stage. It talks time and strength to get strong and fit to be able to move and sing
@@kirstenlouisemedina762 this is why she reminds me of Taylor so much. Known for her lyrics and works hard through the years on her vocals. Perfection is not what I seek in a singer. Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift are RARE in our lifetime.
Voice cracks are divided into two sections. Intentional and accidental. When a singer does not prepare for the big note or if there was no vocal warm up, it's more than likely to be accidental. Anyone who hears this type of voice crack will know it's due to the singer not being able to control their voice. But when it's intentional, it is a stylistic choice and does not sound out of place in the song melody. For this type of voice crack, the person who hears it may or may not like it, but they can tell it sounds cohesive with the rest of the song, and they can tell it's not accidental. You can tell that Olivia's voice cracks are intentional and not accidental. Gosh I LOVE her voice cracks. It gives the song such a rougher sound and I'm obsessed. I've always loved voice cracks in songs and Olivia sure doesn't disapoint.
They are not even 'voice cracks' as far as I can hear, they are vocal flips. It is so obviously on purpose. I want to get anyone who says these 'voice cracks' are accidental and mean she can't sing to go and listen to the cranberries or Alanis Morisette as just a couple of examples of very skilled vocalists making some of the same stylistic choices. For crying out loud, so, so many singers did/do this same thing. They do it in country music A LOT! I'm about 90% certain that it began in traditional Celtic music. I do think that she occasionally misses the intended note, just a tiny, tiny bit when she does the 'voice cracks' but 9 out of ten times her performances are pretty flawless and even with the 'flaws' they are still amazing live performances that the majority of performers would really struggle to achieve to the same level without some kind of 'assistance'.

And even when she's being attacked she still chooses to go live every time with no help & try to improve herself & that's amazing. Honestly everything about this performance was amazing. Of course everyone needs to improve their skills all the time but it's not like she can't sing. I know celebrities way more popular than her that can't sing half as good as her even just standing out there doing nothing but "singing" and that's what at some point we can call not being able to sing good. With her popularity, this intentional voice crack (which I must add is so smooth and elegant she'd probably be great at country music too) is going to be so identifiable with her. She has a unique tone too. Just like whistle notes belong to Mariah and Ariana and that rough edge and low notes are frequently associated with Beyonce, I am certain Olivia is going to be the most mainstream artist utilising voice cracks in such an attractive and artistic manner.
@@LaRoy. Hm, some might not like it while others do. Personally, I think it adds so much more emotion and depth to the song rather than it being a plain old “you”.
I think the voice cracks represent a deep sadness. It shows how much emotion is in the song, it communicates a certain vibe. It’s almost like she’s singing the song while crying in a big black empty space. Her voice resonates beautifully but the voice cracks at a bit of rawness and emotion to the song.
I was getting chills. People have been duped into believing autotuned live performances are their real voices. I love hearing a real voice. It's becoming rare.
True, they didn't sound like real intentional vocal breaks as Sia, Demi, Mariah... sing in some of their songs. Olivia's vocal breaks are more just register changes and she makes it obvious.
I love the lilt but I'm also a big fan of the Cranberries whose singer used her Irish lilt to create such an amazing voice "crack" sound (not to mention SIA!). It makes it more vulnerable and intimate seeming. Like the musical version of "pretty crying"
