- This week's layout update includes me installing my brand new sigals from Custom Signaling Systems and starting the install of the LCC (Layout Command Control) provided by RR Cirkits that will control the turnout machines and signals on the layout. I also explain some of the different aspects of the first signal that is wired up.

Nice video and looking forward to seeing how you implement the expanded LCC system. And thanks for the plug! 🙂
Thanks! You have a lot of good info!
Very informative Jason. Thank you for showing off your new signals and breaking down the operations for us.
Thanks Sean! Glad you found it informative.
Just started looking into LCC for the new layout I will be building in the future. Your info is very helpful. Look forward to seeing more in the future. The LCC channel is helpful too.
Thanks! I will work on getting more content available soon.
The layout is looking awesome bud. I really like the backdrops. The forest backdrop looks super easy to get the 3d scenery to blend into. Nice video.
Stay well. -Wil 👍
Thanks!
Interesting Jason, should be fun to follow along.
Thanks John!
Love the scenic section where you put the signals. The way the background is blended into the foreground is superb !
Thanks Andy but there is still a lot of scenery to do.
The signals look amazing. You have done an excellent job on the scenery also.
Thanks Bob!
Nice walk-through, Jason. Now you've got me thinking about if I want some block detection on my road.
Thanks Drew! Did they have it back in the era your modeling? Maybe ABS with semaphores?
@@TheTrainFreak I don't think they would have used the type of signaling like you've got, I'll need to do more research, but I'm thinking through if there might be other layout controls I might want to do.
I am using CTC (Centralized Traffic Control) which the Cotton Belt had in place in the 40's. Before CTC, they would of either been dark and strictly off time tables or ABS (Automatic Block Signaling). I do not know much on the Frisco but the Rock Island had semaphore signals at their passenger stations along the Choctaw Route between Little Rock and Memphis. Good luck on your research adventure!
Neat installation Jason & thanks for the practical operation demonstration.
Thanks Mike! Glad you found it helpful!
Love those signals. Nice info. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks!
Jason, don't forget that searchlight signals will default to red if something happens to the color changer. What this means is that in normal operations, when the light goes from green to yellow, or yellow to green the light will be red monitaly as the color changer moves.
Oh cool! Not really sure how to make that work in JMRI or LCC. I will have to do some deeper digging into it.
Awesome things going on Jason!! Very interesting signal system you have started and looks pretty comprehensive. I've started using the Azatrak system myself and I'm still learning the ins and outs however I like the scenic value it has brought to the layout and I look forward to adding more to the signal system. I'll definitely be keeping up with your progress and thank you for sharing. I hope you and your family have a Happy Newyear and stay safe!! Happy modeling!! -Jason
Thanks Jason!
Very interesting Json...this is the first time I have come across this system...sounds complicated but seems easy to install...thanks for the info session.
Thanks! It's easy once you get your head wrapped around it but there is good info out there to help.
Ok, very interesting video on LCC! First I had heard of this NMRA standard, let alone the hardware and equipment you can run off it . I'm going to have to do a bunch of research on this as was about to pull the trigger on some NCE switch8s. Thanks for sharing the link! More research to do sigh... hehe
I can tell you that I've made the switch and won't go back. I also don't use my throttle to throw switches and with a big layout, that's hard to keep up with but using toggle buttons, LCC is the way to go. It also frees up traffic on your DCC (track) bus that won't cause a delay of your locomotives responding.
Very cool Jason! I am diving into this LCC stuff soon too. Looking forward to you figuring it all out for me! :D
Thanks Roy! I might be leaning on the LCC Channel and see if he gets it figured out first.
Very cool video and great signals (and tutorial) Well done
Thanks!
Awesome video TF, those signals look great! Keep up the good work and I'm viewing your videos from the 1st state of DELAWARE.
Thanks Shawn!
Very cool lighting and system. Next time you install with those separated diodes and resistors, you could just use a sharpie and color code them, then you don't have to worry about putting them back in the bag, but it all worked well enough. :D
Thanks Anthony! The wires themselves were color coded but I didn't want to mix up the wires between the lamps then trying to remember, did I sharpie the top light or bottom light?...lol
Wow cool video and your new signals are great i need some of those for nscale 😀
Thanks Sean! Custom Signal Systems makes them for N scale as well.
Jason a quick thing you can do before you drill is make a little masking tape box. (At work we call it a diaper). you drill the hole through the tape and there is no clean up. Easy peasy
Thanks Andrew! I will try that in the future.
Very cool video of the model railroading subject.
Thanks!
@@TheTrainFreak Your welcome.
😃👍
Jason, CSS Rich does great work on the signals I have 90%of my signals from him. Tip I made a signal template which I lay on the track and then the signals are far away from the engine and cars and all the same I can send you a photo if you like to see it. Also on the signals with two signal heads you have two sets of wires. First I put the signal on my bench to identify which is which then I mark them with a sharpey this way I do not need the plastic bags Hope this helps you
Thanks Thomas. Rich sent them in the pastic bags already so they were already seperated.
Very cool update! LCC is such a versatile system. I'm not messing with signals at this point, but I am using LCC to create my ladder system in my staging yard. I'm getting started this week with the build series. ~ Dennis
Thanks Dennis! I am waiting on my tortoise tabs to do that myself.
What a great channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Jason I feel like I'm watching Charlie Brown and listening to the Adults talking.. Bla Bla Bla. I hope that one day I will cath on!
Lol! It took me actually watching it in theory.
Interesting system you got running there. So you moving away from using the BD20's too?
I'll be using the BR signal logic system (British Rail) as for me it's more simpler rules then those from the US, as well as it's almost identical to what we use here.
Those wheels are great, I'm going to have to get plenty of them, I will be looking at those, and I hope the have spoked wheels for my older Australian cars.
Thank you for sharing Jason, Merry Christmas to you and your family, and talk in the new year.
Thanks Arty! After recording this video, I found out that company went out of business a couple years ago. 😔
Way to complicated. Glad you understand all this
Thanks Joe! I've seen more complicated. I would say it's tedious to program but simple to connect.
Maybe closer than you think to 950, shows 949 right now. Still Christmas day, 10:00 pm while watching this.
Thanks Lynn!
sure glad you know what your doing lol
I am still learning 😃
I'm new to LCC, so when you're showing the two head mast at the end, and the different color aspect does the LCC system do all the computing or do you have to set that up?
You have to program the nodes. The LCC system will do ABS (Auto Block Signaling) all within itself by setting up the logic on the nodes. If you want something more controlled like CTC (Central Traffic Control), then you would program the signals on the nodes and logic within JMRI. I am still learning.
@@TheTrainFreak oh okay thank you for your help
@@JoeG-firehousewhiskey anytime. As I learn more, I will make videos sharing what I know.
@@TheTrainFreak I will be keeping my eye out for those video 🧐
Sounds good!
