I think it's a very asexual experience to think: "but what's the nature of my feelings towards this character? Why I'm so obsessed?" But in the end characters are in other category compared with human beings. But it's also complicated.
Having a really strong aesthetic attraction, I completely understand the struggle. But also in my case I have extra layers being Aro, Aego (and Asen, although I usually don't talk about it) so I end up using my aesthetic/platonic/alterous/whatever attraction I feel for characters for shipping them very hard with someone else...
I guess aegofictosexual/romantic?

I've recently been thinking that I am asexual as well, and it's always been hard to navigate these thoughts, and how I still see my attraction to fictional characters. So seeing you do this tier list was really nice. I think there needs to be more acknowledging that asexuality is one of the biggest cross spectrums within sexuality, and it doesn't always equate to people being sex repulsed to the very core of the thought, lol
Also I could very much relate to the way you did the list, because there are definitely characters that are my children and that I will protect at any cost because they are baby!!! Also agreed to your childe beat up fantasy. That man needs to be folded
As far as I'm aware it's a sliding scale. And some people can't feel sexual attraction for anyone but a very long-term partner they know super well (I think the term is demisexual, but anyone is free to correct me).

I'm a lesbian and I would say the majority of the female characters you've picked, at or near the top, are my favorite as well. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Joan of Arc in every anime adaptation, or maybe it's the uniform, but Jean's design is so pleasing. She reminds me of my favorite character from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Morag. I really need the Eula banner. She may not be the "strongest" character in the game, but I'm going full main once I get her.
