I’ve tried so many lettuce wraps and never found one that rang my bell until now. The oyster sauce and dark soy did it! These wraps are to die for. Thanks Pai.
I just made this for dinner right now it was absolutely delicious and was praised and thanked but I feel like those thank you’s should be passed to you! So thank you for sharing your recipe with me and my family 😁❤
I like to make shredded chicken and then toss in a little sauce. In a butter lettuce leaf I layer some rice, chicken, thin cucumber strips, mint, basil, and cilantro. For a dipping sauce, I use fish sauce, sugar, a lot of red pepper flake, and a squeeze of lime juice. If I don't have lettuce I'll use rice wrappers.
I take those mung bean threads that I usually put into my (fried or fresh) spring rolls and plunge them into hot oil (instead of hot water) for a couple of seconds, then extract them. I crumble them up and put them on top of the filling to get a nice crunch. Though those lettuce wrap copy-cat recipes never say this, it's my perception that P. F. Chang's does that. In fact, I'd swear to it. You've got a super channel, Pai!
Sawaddee ka Ms. Pai! This is a perfect dish to have on a hot Summer’s day in Austin, Tx. I made this today and my spouse can’t stop eating it lol! So very tasty and easy to prepare. Thank you so much for your show (which I subscribe to). I draw so much inspiration form you and your recipes for my weekly repertoire. You’re a dream to cook alongside. Be healthy, stay happy and much prosperity is wished for you and your family. Take care. Philip
Wow 🤩 can’t help getting distractions by that attractive T SHIRT 👚 P . I Have to watch the video twice to get everything thoughtfully. But always enjoy your teaching of cooking...thank you . 😍🥰
I just made this dish. My brother didn't look very happy when he came to the table, but I must say, he ate about 9 lettuce filled with all the good things I had on hand: Thai basil, fresh mint, and cilantro. The chicken fry was so tasty!
A vegan for 4 1/2 years I use Wan Ja Shan vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce. It’s excellent and hard to tell the difference from authentic oyster sauce. Amazon or an Asian Market.
Awesome! I’m allergic to soy so I use aminos. I like to add mushrooms or other veggies I find at the store that day. I sometimes slice radish and put ground peanuts on top. I’m hungry now
Hi Pailin, I'm looking for some ideas of finger food for a buffet for the launch of an Art Expo. This recipe tickles my fancy but I was wondering if it's OK to serve it cold??? I'd love to hear what you think as I only have 2 days left to come up with a "Waoh" buffet! Thank you so much for your response Greetings from Brittany (France)🥰
Your wok is set too high due to the stove in between wok and table. Maybe its not a problem by now that you have grown taller after 7 yrs since this was made. Otherwise, this is the best video about how to make this dish that I have searched so far today.
Hi Pai thanks for easy to follow recipe I made lettuce wraps they were soo yummy Boston lettuce was a bit too soft did you use iceberg I cant remember as I have a brain injury due to car crash thanks again
Hi Adam here - and good question! If you want to ask her that one directly though rather that put it out to the community (as she doesn't see the comments on here once the post is more than a week old as per her note above), you can check out all the options to get hold of her at hot-thai-kitchen.com/contact . Cheers!
Hi Palin!! I love love love this recipe!!! Will try it soon. Questions: Have u ever made those Thai Tapioca balls with savory filling, peanut perhaps ? If yes, please let me know the link , if not, please make a video about them. I'm crazy for that dish. Thank you!
+Christian Walk Thanks for the request! Outside of Thailand it's very hard to find one of the main ingredients for the filling, sweet preserved daikon, so it's not the most accessible dish for most people. But i'll keep it in mind as an idea!
Hi Manilyn! ... and yes definitely, just up the amount of soy sauce or add a bit of fish sauce to compensate. (You'll have to adjust by taste to get the saltiness right.) Cheers! Adam
Hi Adam here, and for sure, I don't see anything in the written recipe hot-thai-kitchen.com/chicken-lettuce-wrap/ that won't last in the fridge for a few days. That said you could always freeze it. (Which is usually Pai's fall back :)) Cheers!
Please please, dear could you please add recipe of sauces /spice like Thai green paste, red, yellow, basil? I would like to start something on the side.selpher from Kenya, Africa
It's got a somewhat sour taste. Maybe some vinegar? I'm german = far from beeing an expert. But Pai has a video where she makes tamarind sauce. That would be my best bet to get closer. Or drop her a mail on her homepage.

I love that teensy pitcher for the water! Too cute.
I watched this when it first came out and now it popped up on my recommended so I’m taking it as a sign to make this TODAY! ♥️

So is this another version of San chow bao, we love this at our home! Recipe looks so simple!
So good. Authentic flavor. We used ground turkey and it tastes so good. And the dark Filipino soy sauce is Silver Swan or Datu Puti. Enjoy.
Omg, your sauce is a bomb. It makes my chicken lettuce wrap is so delicious and super yummy. I love it so much. Thank you for sharing your recipe ♥️
I just love ❤️ watching you. You are such a pleasant cook to watch! You make everything look so delicious and easy.

Making this tomorrow... Hoisin sauce everywhere and toasted sesame... I'm drooling already!!
Thank you for the recipe, Pailin. It's so delicious, I've been making it regularly.
I've just made this but I had a whole chicken breast so I cut it in small cubes. Tastes amazing! ❤️
Delicious! Made the chicken lettuce wrap with your mango jelly for dessert . " "Perfect combo".
Thank you!

Gorgeous cook!
, good afternoon Pailine. I am allergic to shellfish. What can I replace the Oyster sauce with for this recipe. Thank you
A vegan for 4 1/2 years I use Wan Ja Shan vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce. It’s excellent and hard to tell the difference from authentic oyster sauce. Amazon or an Asian Market.

I am so sorry you're allergic to soy!
You had me at "viscosity". 😆
Butter lettuce is also good for wraps.
Yes! Agreed.
Lettuce you like is also good for wraps...
Yummy 😋 that looks so delicious!
I'm printing the recipe now!! Thanks, I LOVE lettuce wraps!
But how are they 'wraps'?
All I see happening as ingredients placed on top of a lettuce leaf?
Hi . We used raw cashews which we roasted instead of the water chestnuts... so good!
I actually love Boston lettuce as my wrapper.
Great recipie is this good for weight loss love your videos
Love your version - others were disappointing. I think Hoisin is essential but loads of cooks omit it.
So just wondering does normal bbq sauce works?
It looks very good. I am vegan so I am going to use tofu instead of chicken. Thank you ka.
Excellent flavor. Maybe u could add a bit of water to your minced chicken so it does not clump up in the wok
Hi Pailin,

What burner is that you are using on the wok? I neeeeeed it so I can finally use a wok at home!

Love your shirt!!
My wife makes the same thing....but with ground pork and dried oysters.
I learned that recipe from a cooking book in '88 with ground beef and smoked, canned oyster. Thanks for the reminder!
My favorite Channel...
It looks amazing
Amazing recipe! Hoisin is actually cantonese which means seafood.
I love these and you made it so easy to make ! ❤
Is there a oyster sauce alternative. I’m allergic to iodine
I think you should ask Pai on her homepage. She's a nutrition scientist. For a really qualified answer: ask her in person.
What is the best substitute for the tamarind?
It's got a somewhat sour taste. Maybe some vinegar? I'm german = far from beeing an expert. But Pai has a video where she makes tamarind sauce. That would be my best bet to get closer. Or drop her a mail on her homepage.
This is amazing, I will definitely try it, but with a meat substitute :D
P.S, you look really stunning lately! What's your secret?
+idontlikegoats I think it's just better lighting, lol, but thank you! We changed lights recently :)
+Pailin's Kitchen Shhh, you're supposed to say Oil Of Olay does wonders! ;)

I am allergic to seafood so what to substitute for oyster sauce and fish sauce
Anita Amin soy sauce
I wonder if I can work a sort of buffalo chicken spin on this dish. I mean, it already looks fantastic, but I do enjoy me some spicy stuff.
+Imageflexion Cartoons Try it out and let me know how it goes!
This recipe looks really good. However, I was distracted by the awesome tshirt you're wearing -I love it! :)
Is that godzilla?
Dude. That shirt is the bomb.
