More.. There were a couple bad road picks.. ~3-4 points on top of the city.. 3 points at 55:08 itself if he picked the top right road (2 if the top left).. the same road could have been picked earlier too at 51:36
He's very bad at paying attention to what games tell him. If there's a pop-up in a game, he at best just scans through it, decides it isn't relevant, and closes it. 15-20 seconds later, he tries to figure out exactly what was just explained, often becoming annoyed that he doesn't see how to complete the next task. It frustrates certain viewers.
That ending was incredible. I was actually spoiled by having watched the livestream earlier today, so I knew that Jon would lose based on his poor perception, but that was still an epic win for Claire and absolutely hilarious!
Only one way to settle it really (even though Claire rightly won) and that's to have a rematch. Which would mean more of this on the channel, I approve!
Many A True Nerd lies, she is a god at it and you denied her from playinging because she would win turn 1, probably by batting the first peice around bring cute.
Jon lost by so little and threw away 4 points with his last tile! One thing that wasn't properly explained, you can't place a meeples down in a place that is already claimed, you have to add your meeple to a separate place and then link them up. It works better with more than 2 people but the computer version looks really good. Much easier to work out the scores.
As making pretty borders in EUIV is a goal of mine every time I play that game I highly relate to Claire wanting to make a pretty looking playing field.
Also Claire never returned the favor for "making the board look nice". You won that one, Jon. Your rivalry is magnificently entertaining. Looking forward to even more "vs Claire" videos.
Carcassonne was the first Euro-Game that I had ever played, and it got me hooked. Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, etc, all those amazing games, and my friends never want to play with me because they know how it will end... someone bumping the table and we don't know where the pieces went.
They argue at the end, but I think we knows who won. Us, the viewers, for such a fun video of a neat game (the two of them head-to-head is always amusing!) Oh, and Claire. Claire won too because yeah, perception -5 strikes again.
This is why, in my family, you can retroactively do things like claim that city if you notice it before the next person does anything in their turn, or if it would have no impact on what happened afterwards and it's sufficiently close to when you made the mistake
The one thing you could've done Jon is placed a farmer northeast corner of Claire's northmost south cities, that way both your farmers' fields would tie for that city. Remember that farmer score based on the fields bordering a completed city, cities can have more than one field bordering it.
Jon on his turn: Begin Operation Town Steal, because Claire's already invested more than me in this town. Jon on Claire's turn: Dammit. Okay, so Operation Town Steal hasn't gone spectacularly well, to be honest.
If Jon had added his last road to the loop in the top right, he would have at least drawn. He had one more meeple he could have placed on it, making that last tile effectively worth 4 points instead of 1 more point.
bob joe I imagine they’re already familiar with it-Claire even mentioned it at one point during this video, when Jon was joking that Carcassonne was purely luck-based.
I…I use the 3D camera….I like the pop out effect (altho I great it can be messy, but if I wanna play facedown with no 3D I might aswell just play the physical boardgame 😅) Btw I would love to see you play more of this with the expansions 🙏
Jon's lack of perception strikes again!
tREX13470 The Pen town?
Ahh, a traditional board game with a traditional bard game ending: an argument!
and we wouldn't have it any other way. Board games were the violent video games of their era.
Classic Jon perception lost him the game by 4 points.
XD I love Carcassone so much
@@ilo3456 Lol, of course John didn't lose the game, cause missing 4 points was inattention at all.
More.. There were a couple bad road picks.. ~3-4 points on top of the city.. 3 points at 55:08 itself if he picked the top right road (2 if the top left).. the same road could have been picked earlier too at 51:36
Jon's legendary perception once again snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.
Dammit Jon, we told you going 1 on Perception was a bad choice. Shouldn't have taken all those points into Strength and Intelligence
is there an origin to the 1 perception meme cause in real life he DEFINITELY put all the points in charisma
Jon just De-Claire her the winner.
Heranara No. Just no.
I agree, she Claire-ly won.
Her Claire-voyance helped a lot.
Someone needs to Claire things up here.. It's a bit confusing.
Shut up, or I'll throw you all in the dun-Jon.
I had a gut feeling when Jon forgot to claim the city early on that he'd regret it ...
Egzindahouse you were right
Of course she won, she had home field advantage.
I love how Jon's 1 perception prevents him from winning by 1 point
That ending was incredible. I was actually spoiled by having watched the livestream earlier today, so I knew that Jon would lose based on his poor perception, but that was still an epic win for Claire and absolutely hilarious!
I love how Claire discusses strategy and Jon pretends that he understands.
I love when you comment together with Claire. You are perfect
Only one way to settle it really (even though Claire rightly won) and that's to have a rematch. Which would mean more of this on the channel, I approve!
One of those cities is looking very... Phallic.
CULT-OF-CLAIRE! CULT-OF-CLAIRE!
All those Monasteries fell into her lap for a reason. CULT OF CLAIRE! CULT OF CLAIRE!
We have Claire and we have Jon but where is tabby we need more tabby
She is just terrible at Carcassonne.
Many A True Nerd lies, she is a god at it and you denied her from playinging because she would win turn 1, probably by batting the first peice around bring cute.
It seems as though she would be a timid player, yes.
Never thought I would see this here...
I’m looking forward to this (this was one of the first games I ever played)
Minsc And Boo I've never clicked on a video so fast!

Patrick Jackson Always remember to dink!
Jon looses due to perception. Shocking
*loses :’)
Learn spell
i can taste Jon's Salt from canada.
Delicious, delicious British salt.
I just smell burned egg.
Lol. but why we call him an eggbox, srsly? i only know him (as a channel) since last summer.
He did a couple of subscriber specials where he showed how to make food, with a "face reveal" in the form of a flapping egg carton.
LOL now i see.
I love that Jon lost this for himself multiple times. Lmao.
As making pretty borders in EUIV is a goal of mine every time I play that game I highly relate to Claire wanting to make a pretty looking playing field.
Jon "Doesn't listen to girlfriend's favorite 'play style'" Matn
Also Claire never returned the favor for "making the board look nice".
You won that one, Jon.
Your rivalry is magnificently entertaining.
Looking forward to even more "vs Claire" videos.
Jon, did you ever go to Thirsty Meeples during your time in Oxford? One of the best board game cafe's I've ever been to!
Nice, my wife and I quite enjoyed this one, thank-you for giving us something to watch together :)
I do love it when boardgame players talk about how much they've spent on individual boardgames.
I own a Warlord Titan.
Go Claire! Smashed that Jon guy
No, boooooo Claire
*Many A True Nerd* - In real life, Tabby would have won by jumping onto the table and then claiming all of the tiles...
This can be taken out of context.
"Carcassonne is a gateway" is so accurate I'm surprised I never thaught of it before :D
Carcassonne was the first Euro-Game that I had ever played, and it got me hooked. Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, etc, all those amazing games, and my friends never want to play with me because they know how it will end... someone bumping the table and we don't know where the pieces went.
Carcassonne is my ABSOLUTE favorite board game!
They argue at the end, but I think we knows who won. Us, the viewers, for such a fun video of a neat game (the two of them head-to-head is always amusing!)
Oh, and Claire. Claire won too because yeah, perception -5 strikes again.
I remember playing this board game, I was really good at it! Good times.
This is why, in my family, you can retroactively do things like claim that city if you notice it before the next person does anything in their turn, or if it would have no impact on what happened afterwards and it's sufficiently close to when you made the mistake
And the special guest star Jon has returned for another Co-op game!
Build a road wall and have Claire pay for it!
I could watch this all day.
You even could have closed that road at the south with a corner piece you had, also woulda won you the last 4 points.
I'd like to see you play again because I'd like to see Claire win again.
I remember playing this game many, many years ago.
The one thing you could've done Jon is placed a farmer northeast corner of Claire's northmost south cities, that way both your farmers' fields would tie for that city. Remember that farmer score based on the fields bordering a completed city, cities can have more than one field bordering it.
This is a great physical game. Simple and elegant. Great to play casually with friends. Also a great 1v1 game
Would love to see this again!
Oh, this was such a beautiful outcome XD
I've just watched this video and bought a copy of Carcassonne for my girlfriend's birthday - I knew you were in the pocket of Big Board Game.
My first "real" boardgame, got friends on the continent that LOVE Carcassonne, having a decent online version would be great.
UUUGHHHHHHHH I LOVE CARCASSONNE its one of my favourite board games
This should be interesting since I've been playing the board game lately.
loving this.
Can't believe Jon brought it back at the end
This is one of the best games. I want to see more!!
Jon seems to become less nasty towards Claire. That's a good thing to see.
Jon on his turn: Begin Operation Town Steal, because Claire's already invested more than me in this town.
Jon on Claire's turn: Dammit. Okay, so Operation Town Steal hasn't gone spectacularly well, to be honest.
i remember playing this on my 360.
This was indeed my gateway game and I have indeed put my games on the insurance paperwork.
This was a great video
All the strategic attempts to get one over Claire and in the end, Jon's perception screws him over. x'D
I think you should force her into a rematch so we can see you winning properly.
There is a VIDEO GAME OF CARCASONE!!!! HOLY SHIT!
Me at the end of the video: JON! FINISH THE GREAT WALL ROAD! JON! YOU'RE WASTING TILES!
Kept hearing them say "meatballs" throughout the video. Changes a lot of things. lol
Had Jon just thought of using his last piece and meeple to claim his "wall road" in the north he'd got four more points and would have won anyways.
Which cult do you belong to?
Silence rebel
The cult of the cult of the cults.
None I am part of the tenants of tabby
birdbot02 I agree
nacho martinez we will always live on
Jon, don't be such a sore loser! If you wern't so busy sassing Claire, you wouldn't have forgotten to throw down your meeple!
I approve of this game. It seems fairly true to the original
also, towns for jon
You guys should play the game of life on pc! I think that would be pretty fun :D
So close! :D
Yay! I have played this!
Th scoring in Carcassonne has always eluded me.
If Jon had added his last road to the loop in the top right, he would have at least drawn. He had one more meeple he could have placed on it, making that last tile effectively worth 4 points instead of 1 more point.
Needs more particle effects, 2/10
25:41 am I the only one who sees this new city as distinctly erm… Phallic. I mean come on now Jon this should be a game about architecture.
Damn, i havent been to carcassonne in like 10 years.
When u put points on wisdom instead of perception
Jeeez Jon, you need to be kinder to Claire. You call her a peasant and think she gives you the stink eye cause you draw a good tile.. x)
This game is basically what inspired Dorfromantik
Could've won with the last two tiles, place them field to field between the two roads and he would've gotten into Claire's field.
If you like this then you should try catan. It's like Carcassonne but with a resource/trading system.
bob joe I imagine they’re already familiar with it-Claire even mentioned it at one point during this video, when Jon was joking that Carcassonne was purely luck-based.
I…I use the 3D camera….I like the pop out effect (altho I great it can be messy, but if I wanna play facedown with no 3D I might aswell just play the physical boardgame 😅)
Btw I would love to see you play more of this with the expansions 🙏
51:42 jon tells Claire how to get 5 pts and looses by 3...
No Jon, you lose because you weren't paying attention.
Percept-jon strikes again!
You guys should try The Campaign for North Africa, see how far into it you can get.
I think we all know that city would be the doom of him
that's an oddly phallic city
i want another round
LIVESTREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Claire and Jon. They're the best
It is about building carcasonne
It would have been a tie if Jon had used his last tile and last meeple to claim the 3-piece road on the upper right...
Saw Jon not click the city. He's absolutely losing by 1-3 points. Let's see if that's true.
Should have tried to snipe Claire's 3-pennant supercity.
@many a true nerd have you ever played Ticket to Ride? Really fun game if you have not.
Oh, so meeple is an official term. I wasn't sure.
Rematch! Rematch! Rematch!
My teens are back
Jon could have won on his last tile, placed it North-West with a farmer to score two finished cities. :)
Is this the part where I point out Jon could have got 4 points from his last tile, not just 1?
Jon, if you had played a farmer in the far west of the board, you could have got 6 points from a farmer.
Claire has an unfair advantage over Jon. That is to say, she is not an egg carton with -1 perception. GG Claire!
Yeah I'm a gamer. A hardcore board-gamer.
I've played this before i think
