Jon you don't have to rest as soon as you're ready to level up. You can keep leveling your skills to raise your modifiers and then rest to level once you have +5 in your 3 chosen attributes. Staves are bad weapons but they usually have very high Enchantment values, meaning that you're able to give them much stronger enchantments than other weapons. You use staves to store spells rather than to bonk people!
Only the top tier staves are good for enchanting. The basic ones are only slightly better than their counterparts of other weapon types. For non-combat enchantments you're way better off with enchanting rings. Staves do have the advantage of high range and high attack speed. There are also a lot of pre-enchanted staves in the game.
Enemies inside of some locations like Deidre shines will scale to your level like Deidre and golden Saints. They won’t appear until after level 25. In addition to that the quality of weapons that the enemy is using also scales to your level. not all locations have a set enemy roster.
These episodes cannot be long enough or often enough, and I adored Oblivion. If you guys want to slip in some episodes over 1 hour I will happily sit and watch every second. Love this series, Morrowind was not my vote, but it has already become a series I know I will go back and binge, and I expect it's only going to get better. I love the wake of enemies you're leaving from trying to be charming, it's brilliant. I look forward to Aria's rise to silver-amalgam tongued devil.
Part 7 and the epic Cliff Racer hating begins. Honestly, you lasted quite a bit. The first time I played this game I wasn't even completely fluent in English. I thought that would be my biggest issue with the game, but no, it was Cliff Racers. Definitely those damned Cliff Racers! _(I didn't know about the existence of mods in those days)_
Second comment to inform you about staffs: Compared to other weapon types, staffs have higher enchantment numbers, meaning you can place stronger/more enchantments on them than other weapon types. Depends on what quality staff you have though, much like other weapons.
The other day I was playing this game and, with alchemy, I was flying around with a speed of 500 looking for some cave up in the mountains. Wound up getting the attention of about 20 of them. Mercifully I had found a ring of lightning storm so when they all piled on top of me, I cast the ring and watched as they got zapped to death. Of course, i looted the racer plumes and grabbed some nearby trauma roots and made more levitate potions, which led to more exploration and more cliff racers trailing behind me. Oh BTW, a fun thing to do with moonsugar is combine it with shalk resin to create fortify speed. Truly the only way to play lol
Morrowind was my first horror game. Because of those Cliff Racers who have the habit to jump scare me. I was hearing the combat music, then boom! beak attack. Good old times...
The call of the Cliff Racer triggers the same reaction in me as the sound of a wasp flying by my ear. Immediate surge of adrenaline and killer instinct. Welcome to Vvardenfell, Jon.
Jon... I would love to share some of the great mods that pacify Cliff Racers... But you must suffer as we all did. It's a rite of passage. I'm so sorry.
Cliff racers are there to encourage you to take your marksmanship or destruction skill from beginner to master. Clear the skies and you'll become deadly at range in no time.
Todd Howard: Hey, we need an enemy that squawks constantly, is difficult to hit, gets stuck in environmental geometry and will fight you literally EVERYWHERE including towns. Morrowind Devs: GOT IT. 😎
The giant land jelly fish (Netch) are effectively morrowind cows. The males are bulls and the females are bettys. They are pretty harmless if you leave them be. Also jon, the guild boxes restock every 3 months, if you need money sell the book to the book shop across the street. I think most my censoring is skill books outside the hyper expensive armor.
Jon, you may want to consider turning on "Always use best attack" in the game's settings menu - Morrowind's weapons tend to have one type of attack that they're very good with, and then the other types they absolutely SUCK at, to the point it's not worth using. Given Morrowind's hit system is based on a dice roll anyways, it seems only fair that you make sure you're hitting the hardest when you do hit!
If you go to a spell maker, you can get a spell that only costs one point and has a high chance of success, you can then cast the training spell while you're running around on quests, it'll be the cheapest way to level up those magic skills.
I haven't played this in twenty years and I still get the urge to throw my controller through the screen when I see those damn birds. They are without a doubt the most detestable video game enemy ever created. It's actually kind of impressive. Their development was a mad scientist level of inhumane genius that the world hadn't seen since Dr. Mengele.
Something to keep in mind about joining different guilds is that each guild has other guilds they like and dislike. So while joining every guild you see may seem like a good idea at first, you're likely end up in a situation where your disposition gets fairly low, because everyone has a reason to dislike you, because you're a member of a guild they don't like.
26:21 So, for items that you can enchant, there's an Enchantment Capacity stat that governs how "big" of an enchantment(s) that item can hold. Staves have fairly high enchantment capacity.
Jon: "Why can't I advance in the guild??"
Ranis: "Idk, skill issue."

Staves are bad weapons but they usually have very high Enchantment values, meaning that you're able to give them much stronger enchantments than other weapons. You use staves to store spells rather than to bonk people!
Bonk
Only the top tier staves are good for enchanting. The basic ones are only slightly better than their counterparts of other weapon types.
For non-combat enchantments you're way better off with enchanting rings.
Staves do have the advantage of high range and high attack speed. There are also a lot of pre-enchanted staves in the game.
This series is the highlight of my week. I literally shouted "Yes!" when I saw the new episode
Hating cliff racers, loving scribs. I think Jon is acclimating to Morrowind quite well
Cliff racers are the UK version of our sea gulls. You don’t see the police coming out to kill them for stealing chips or an ice cream now do you 😜
Enemies inside of some locations like Deidre shines will scale to your level like Deidre and golden Saints. They won’t appear until after level 25. In addition to that the quality of weapons that the enemy is using also scales to your level. not all locations have a set enemy roster.
Alternative episode title "skill issue"
These episodes cannot be long enough or often enough, and I adored Oblivion. If you guys want to slip in some episodes over 1 hour I will happily sit and watch every second. Love this series, Morrowind was not my vote, but it has already become a series I know I will go back and binge, and I expect it's only going to get better. I love the wake of enemies you're leaving from trying to be charming, it's brilliant. I look forward to Aria's rise to silver-amalgam tongued devil.
The Adventures of Acorn Hat continue.
14:00 I look forward to the Morrowind House Flipper DLC.
He lasted ONE episode between "meeting Cliff Racers" and "hating Cliff Racers".
St. Jiub please hurry up, I can't deal with these cliff racers 😭😭😭
Wow, no pun or anything in the title, just pure blind hatred, Dear Lord Jon, what did they do to you?
They existed
For Cliff Racers, that's reason enough to hate
This is such a trip down memory lane. I love it.
Morrowind was my first horror game.
Because of those Cliff Racers who have the habit to jump scare me.
I was hearing the combat music, then boom! beak attack.
Good old times...
Loving the playthrough Jon. Learning as you go is part of the fun.
The call of the Cliff Racer triggers the same reaction in me as the sound of a wasp flying by my ear.
Immediate surge of adrenaline and killer instinct.
Welcome to Vvardenfell, Jon.
Bound weapon spells work against demons like scamps etc.
You hate cliffracers? Wait for the Greater Bonewalker
Loving this straight from the title
Getting absolutely dive-bombed repeatedly by cliff racers is one of the initiation rites in Morrowind. So welcome in.
Jon you brought a lock picking spell.
Staves are good because they can be enchanted with stronger effects than other weapons.
Jon... I would love to share some of the great mods that pacify Cliff Racers... But you must suffer as we all did. It's a rite of passage. I'm so sorry.
The true rite of passage is when you finally wise up and create/enchant a DoT fireball specifically to one-shot them.
Why is Jon so averse to the "Until healed" button when resting?
Whenever i read the tile, i can only hear Grunt's joyous voice as he says: "I hate Turians! I thought you'd be glad."
Jon always leaving behind some of the most valuable loot he finds, the skill books :P
Cliff racers are there to encourage you to take your marksmanship or destruction skill from beginner to master. Clear the skies and you'll become deadly at range in no time.
"I hate cliff racers."
That's the correct answer! You've won a fAAbulous prize!!
Jon, we've talked about this... Let your stamina come back before trading and you can get more money out of the deal!
The authentic Morrowind experience: Learning firsthand just why Jiub was made a Saint of the Tribunal for driving the cliff racers out of Vvardenfell
Todd Howard: Hey, we need an enemy that squawks constantly, is difficult to hit, gets stuck in environmental geometry and will fight you literally EVERYWHERE including towns.
Morrowind Devs: GOT IT. 😎
26:54 Lol Jon, never change. 😂 You, like last episode, have left a very valuable book behind by closing it instead of taking it.
You don't wanna take on those bull netches, at least, not until you've got a fork of horripilation.
I've been saying this for episodes now. I wish you better luck than me.
Btw Jon, I notice you keep talking about magic weapons to hit certain creatures, but that doesn't necessarily mean enchanted. Silver works, too.
Do not forget, that the world do not scale with you (that much). You can find quite a loot around if you look for it.
JUST IGNORE CLIFFRACERS! Until they actually start pecking at you.
If you go to a spell maker, you can get a spell that only costs one point and has a high chance of success, you can then cast the training spell while you're running around on quests, it'll be the cheapest way to level up those magic skills.
Try the dwarven spear on ghosts and scamps. I’m fairly certain it will work.
i use the oblivion technique for the book thing: if the price is several 10's of gold, it is a skill book. If it's just 5 or so, it's not.
Suran! My favourite town on Vvardenfel.
Really loving this series :)
Does Jon know that sneak attacks have to be performed while sneaking?
All hail Jiub, the Holiest of Saints and true saviour or Morrowind.
Just saying, there is such a thing as Charm Person spells. if you can't speechcraft them into liking you, use magic.
Loving the progress so far! 😄
26:21 So, for items that you can enchant, there's an Enchantment Capacity stat that governs how "big" of an enchantment(s) that item can hold. Staves have fairly high enchantment capacity.
