M5 is a weapon with a tuxedo over it! Absolutely what all other cars inspire to be and that's a fact whether you like it or not. Ok Tesla is different only because it's electric I'll give it that and I do like the model S. But we are talking ICE automobile sedans and the M5 is KING!!!
Currently own a F80 M3 and never once considered the much larger M5 until now. If the new G series M3 doesnt come out with Awd I may become a M5 owner. 20 year Motorweek fan and enthusiast here.
Everyone who says "if the AWD offends you, then turn it off!" with this car doesn't get it. The offense of AWD is weight. When you turn it off, but are still carrying the mechanicals around, it's the WORST of both worlds. The new M5 is a giant, overpowered luxobarge. It's a boat. It's for old people with more money than brains. If you want the fast 5, get the M550i, it actually makes sense as a fast GT sedan. If you just want a nicer luxury car that moves out of its way, get a 540i. And if you want a real performance car, don't buy something that weighs 4500 lbs, has to pipe in engine noise through the speakers, and has a 117" wheelbase. If you think this is a driver's car, you're a fool. And at BMW, fools and their money are soon parted. (PS - BMW turbo V8s are reliability nightmares, and the more boost you add the worse they are to live with. Get a straight 6 and be happy).
F10 m5 owner here. 65k miles, only problem I've had was running over an armadillo in Kansas and having my coolant lines blown up. Brand new engine, 0 cost ;)
This is a grand touring car. Do you know what that means? You might want to educate yourself cause you look dumb. Like a s63 benz and this m5 are grand touring cars. Not straight sports cars. They are built for the autobahn in Germany where there is no speed limit. They are literally made to just cruise at 130mph while in comfort and getting a back massage from the seats while you’re doing it.
Anthony Perez yeah the latest gen is automatic only. The previous generation (f10) was available in manual. The last year for the manual M5 is 2016. I'm sure the prices are going to go through the roof.
New BMW is now AWD! Ugh! No burnouts! Yes, is faster then the previous model M5 but you buy a M5 for doing 360 burnouts and skidding into corner turns!
HW2800 you can turn the awd off to only use the rear wheels and still light them up. The gates of hell will open up before if there’s an m car that doesn’t go sideways.
Just turned in my ‘18 M5, nothing like my old ‘13 M5 manual, it was difficult to drive smoothly and the brakes squeaked so bad the sound was obnoxious. It was totally overpriced for the enjoyment I got out of it.
@@valceliant6652 I’m currently driving as a second car a 5.0 Mustang, 6 speed, 460 hp, it’s also an ultimate driving machine and cost 1/3 the BMW and uses regular gas.
The King is back.
Excellent review. I am not a BMW fan, but this review mans me an admirer. Love Motorweek.
It’s like Motor Week has a time machine. Taking today’s cars back to 1998 to review them
Ya but don't forget the maintenance costs in the long run.
That's so early 90s.
@@MichaelLesesne No that is a present time concern.
The M5 is the first BMW that I’ve liked in a long time
5 Alive - Short Circuit reference!!!
Boost me up Scotty!
Awesome car. The M5 is back!
MotorWeek i hope you will make a full review of the 2019 BMW M5 with the Competition pkg. it is more of a beast than the base M5
When we get our hands on one, we will. Maybe for our trip down to Roebling Road.
oh man that would be an awesome drive with that M5, i look forward to seeing this episode!
I really like this guy🙂
Wish I had $105K that I could throw around...
Don't wish..believe you will and it will happen
Mike I know but I just bought the new jaguar suv so now I have to wait a little while

The new M5 is ging to look like an assassin.

If i ever have enough money to play Frankenstein with a car, I'll slip this drivetrain into an '08-ish M3. 🤤
Welcome back, M. We have missed you, a dog had taken your place.
I wonder if my next door neighbor will get this as she has an M4 fully loaded and it's clean af.
Obvious question: how’s the ride?
I bought one this morning and I paid for it with my lottery ticket

Ah I can’t afford this at the moment - but I am close to buying a pre owned Audi rs7.
audi expensive
Rear end reminds me of some kind of Korean car or Japanese car

Do you realize this M5 weighs 120lbs more than the 1998 RWD manual E39 M5?

I would still take the V3 CTS-V
An automatic transmission Awd M car Paul Rosche is rolling in his grave
I'll just have to find an F10 6MT once I'm ready for the M5. Guess I'm just one of those annoying purists.
How do you know someone drives a manual....they will tell you🙄😏
I thought the new M's were auto only

It would be better if the M5 was not all wheel drive in the first place
HW2800 Awd donuts are applause worthy 👏🏾

Engine sounds like a 1991 ford Fiesta
Don't comment on cars you can't afford (that includes the Fiesta as well).
You look like a 1991 Ford Fiesta.
4300 pounds?????? Good grief!
I think it is over priced.
BMW turning into an AWD, all figures no fun, boring design, Audi.
CTS V is better
