🔴 I'm Margarete Miller. I'm a collage artist who loves to use vintage papers and vintage themes in my art. I also love all things postal, including lots of postage stamps in my art.
You do such an amazing job creating these seemingly simple projects! I learn so much from you. Thank you ❤
Thanks so much for your kind words, Linda❣️
Thanks for the shot of Christmas spirit! Just what I needed this year to rekindle some enthusiasm for the season.
I’m so glad! 😊❤️⭐️
This will be such a cute book! It could become part of your Christmas decor each year. Maybe displayed on a book shelf or coffee table!
Great way to repurpose index cards.
🫶🏾 the idea of using Christmas cards. As another commented, I can see creating for other holidays or just as a junk journal. Completing a project at your own pace is definitely something I do often.
Christmas cards are so often really pretty. I definitely love putting them in my journals, too. I love giving them a second life 😉❤️👍🏻
As you were starting I thought to myself that I have a few sets of index dividers and what a great way I could use them. This is a no stress journal and for me as a new comer to journals that's a lot off my chest. I also love how you're not in a rush to complete it this year. It reminds me that I just bought 2 books from Amazon from another creator on You Tube and it's going to be a gorgeous journal except I don't have the time to get it done. I just moved and now after watching you I realize I can do it any time I want. I 1st need to search my boxes for my index dividers. LOL oh its making me laugh because I don't feel pressured now thanks to you. TYFS❤❤❤
Awwww, I’m so happy that you 1) already have materials to work with, 2) you’re excited to work on it, and 3) you’re not feeling stressed about getting it all done. You've got this! 😉❣️⭐️
Such an amazing and fun project! What a fun thrifting find, thanks for sharing. By the way, Fabri- tac is perfect for adhering fabric or lace trims to paper.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip 👍🏼❣️😉
Margarete: that was an easy, fast and fun project. This is something I could do celebrating individual holidays. You could land up with a holiday series of little booklets. Just love it. Carol from California
You are right, Carol!! And since I've got more of these sets, that's a great way to use them. Thanks so much for the idea 😉👍🏻❣️
I love the concept of doing a few pages a year!
Exactly. Slow and easy 😉👍🏼⭐️
Found you from FB . This showed up on my feed. Super love what you’ve done with it so far. 😊🥰
Awwww 🤩. So glad you enjoyed these videos so far. 👏🏼
Love this!! So cute! I can’t wait to try and make one!
I hope you love it! 👏🏼
What a great idea for a Christmas journal!!! It's beautiful!
Thank you! I'm so glad you like it! 💖
Cool idea; that packet on AMZ is ~$19+… you found a steal of a deal! 😂🎉 Thanks for posting your rad mini journal!!🤩💜🤘🏾🥰🙏🏾
You explained this so well & made it look so easy! I have been wanting to do a journal with this type of binding but was not entirely sure how to! TFS! Luv the journal! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! 🎄❤️🎄
I'm so glad I could help! Happy Holidays to you too!🎄
I love this video and I love your work. I got so much out of watching this. But the biggest thing I learned is it’s okay not to finish something right away. Watching a lot of content creators online it seems like the whole goal is to whip a journal out very fast. I felt overwhelmed by that because I feel like art should unfold. I feel as if you gave me permission to create by saying you weren’t sure when you were going to finish it - thank you❤
It's so important to do things at your own pace - sometimes it takes longer to finish projects, and that's okay. ❣️
I also like to work in a smaller size. Cute journal. Thanks for the idea.
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by. 🩷
That’s a nice box of cards. I did wonder if you ever went thrifting for craft related stuff… I don’t recall seeing anything in the past. I didn’t know that thrift stores have craft related or office supplies etc until about a year ago. I used to see Margareth (sevenplaza) do hauls and I started visiting local ones and have found tons of great goodies, branded name craft supplies never opened etc for a great price! Also found wooden trays for DIY projects etc. Of course some great botanical books to boot. Now it’s like 1-2 times a month, I’ll go there to chk. Recently I saw a Rolodex on a metal stand. I thought of you immediately but ended up not buying. But I got the one in a plastic case (like the ones used to store diskettes back in the 90s lol). I’m thinking I could just cut cheap Manila folders into these cards and create a tab manually using file folder tab as a template. You’re always inspiring and not hurried to rush through the steps or voice overs with audio/video lag! Thank you!!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I’ve been thinking about the idea of showing more things that are vintage “finds” out in the world that I incorporate into a video. Honestly, I don’t like haul videos because I don’t want to encourage people to get more stuff, but use what they have, but I could show 2 or 3 things I pick up from an antique mall.
Yes, your idea of cutting down Manila folders is a good one! Glad you can use those 👍🏼.
I’m off to find haul videos from Sevenplaza to see how she does it 👏🏼.
What an Amazing idea. I love how you put this together & showed how you were decorating the pages. Can't wait to see the finished project. ❤great job❤
Thanks , Brenda. I’ll share photos as I progress ❤️
This was such a fun project to watch you create! It is so beautiful 😍 thanks for sharing
It was fun to make, too! 💖
Just found your channel and have been binge watching some videos. I’m really enjoying your take on junk journals, thank you.
Awesome! I'm so glad you're enjoying them!🎄
I love that the tabs are original. Thanks for this great video. Can’t wait to get to collating!
You are so welcome! It’s so fun to create journals like this. 💜
Very nice! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! Cheers! 💜
Oh wow, this just crossed my feed. I love this project! Do you intend on covering the letters on the tabs? If so, what’s the easiest way to make that happen?
I think I will mostly leave the tabs as they are. I might add some ink to them, but that’s about it 😉
Super cute project, M. I'm also so glad that your fingernails aren't distractingly long. Love watching your videos, they're like little presents, so enjoyable. I have old cards that I have saved, that would great for such a fun festive project. Thanks.
😂
I love this Margarete, whish we had another month to go before Christmas, its running at me lol 🥰🐝🌹🦋 crafty hugs Donna
Thanks so much, Donna! You’re right, December seems to fly by! 🎄
What a lucky find! Our local Sal. Army thrift store just revamped so need to check for office supplies. I think I have one set of those cards.
I probably need some new double sided tape. Super cute! It would make a sweet gift.
Sounds like you've got lots of ideas how to make a project like this work. I'm so glad! Have fun with it. 😉❣️👍🏻
Now I want to make a Christmas-Journal, too🎄🤶🏻
🙋🏻♀️🎄✨ same here!!
I hope you will! 🎄
ADORABLE & FUN!! ❤️🎄💚
Thanks, Debbie!! 🤶🏼
I really like this! Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas!🎅
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too!🎄
You probably can use Christmas cards, which I have a lot of and since it’s already folded you can just trim them down to 6x4; tape the other cards to them easily
Yes, exactly. Holiday cards work great in journals like this 👍🏼😉❣️
I just love this idea! Like I need another Christmas project! But I'm gonna do it, yes, Ma'am, I am!❤
Awesome!! I’m so glad you’re going to make one. Gotta use up those holiday papers, right?!! 😉❣️☃️
Brilliant! Such an easy make. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Lorraine. It's definitely a quick construction project. 👍🏻
Thank you for the great idea! I purchased two sets of these dividers for 50 cents at a church rummage sale. I knew they were a great buy but haven't thought of a way to use them. Now I have an idea!
Fabulous!!! 🩷 I'm excited for you. I hope you make something neat with them. 👏🏼
@MargareteMiller I just finished making this journal and really enjoyed the project. A couple things I did differently...my journal started out about an inch thick and as I was decorating the pages and adding journal cards, the cloth binding was not keeping the pages together so I removed the cloth and reapplied when I was done. My journal is now two inches wide. I think using rings would be another option. The other thing I did was cover the letter tabs with whale tabs in varying colors and styles. This was one of my favorite journals to make. Thanks again for the idea.
Hi Margarete, love your Christmas Journal, very cute❤
Thank you so much!
One can never have too much glitter!❤️🇨🇦
I have a few of these. I was never sure what to do with them. Now I know. thanks.
I have the Santa stickers too and Angels
There you have it! I hope you'll work on one of these art journals, too. 💜
I'm not much for the holidays, but I love a themed journal! You've given me some great ideas for when I finally put together a wedding book. One of those projects that I've been collecting materials for a long time for but haven't quite gotten around to doing it 😅
Thank you for continuing to inspire!
Great idea!! That will be a neat little glue book❣️
This is a great project! I love the index tab dividers.
Right?! I think the dividers make the whole little journal complete. I just need to think about inking them or something to add a bit of color. 👏🏼
Love this idea! And I already have the dividers in different sizes! Now to find the time!
Awesome! I’m glad you have the dividers 💜👏🏼🌸
I’m working on my second Christmas journal, thank you for your inspiration, and I have to tell you I love your ink bracelets, very demure
Thanks so much! 😘

What an awesome find at the thrift store. I don't get to go much anymore as I'm in a wheelchair when I leave my house and someone else has to take me. I'm hoping my grandson will take me after christmas. I love your idea for the Christmas book your pages are lovely and it is also very helpful to me to hear you say you may not finish it this year but pull it out again for next year. Such a great idea it takes the pressure off blessings on you and your family for a lovely Christmas. Hugs and love from New Mexico. Feliz Navidad
Thanks so much for your comments. I’m so glad you like the idea of continuing next year if you’d like. This is a much more enjoyable project when you lower the stress ❣️

This is really a great project. I'm just wondering how masking tape will hold up in the long run? I'm definitely going to be making this project. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Yes, that's a good question. Time will tell... . 👍🏻 Thanks for watching. 🩷
Love it!
Thanks, so much! I hope you make one! 🌲
So cute ! Love the Santa on the cover ❤️
Thanks, so much! 😊
Hi, when would you recommend using either glue or tape to put down your pages? New to glue books and I don't want extra bulk if I don't have to. Thank you and Merry Christmas
Hi, to assemble your pages you'll need to start with that sooner, of course, but it you are decorating your pages, you can glue as you go along. Hope that helps. 💜
Great find for 4.99, It’s probably too late for me to do this being that’s it’s the 22nd😢
It’s not too late. Do two pages this year and then put it away until next year. 😉❣️👍🏼
Do you cover the 'tabs', ABCD, etc? Or leave them as they are. Loved this tutorial. Thanks!
I think I’m going to leave them as they are. Maybe ink them a bit? I’m still thinking about my possibilities 😉💜⭐️
@@MargareteMiller thank you.
Great video, can you use opaque sellotape instead of masking tape? My masking tape comes off after a while.
Sure. Use whatever you have. Usually you've cover over part of the tape anyway. with papers on top, so it doesn't show very much. 💜
