This was a very informative and interesting tutorial. I learned several things from it. I like how well you explain and demonstrate your thought process. It's very helpful. I will definitely be doing my master boards differently and with more thought. I have never heard of Inkbox cards before. TFS your knowledge and creativity with us!❤
I go for serendipity. Usually i do torn pieces from a stash/left over box, book pages, etc. Then paints, inks, gelatos, etc. Then images, washi tape etc. Turn over the sheet (usually 12 x12) and cut the sizes I need: maybe a full A2 card background or smaller for layering or tags or ATCs etc. If a piece does not make my eye sing, then additional images, stamping etc. What fun for what I call ugly papers. Ah, gesso is a delightful magician turning less pleasing to stunning.
I think an easier way to save time is to cut out those marked sizes as templates. 1. Cover an entire page with background pages. 2.cover entirely with pretty pcs. 3. Use templates to cut out. 4. Voila! you have cards ready to use add stamp if necessary!
Margarete, you are 1st that actually did a Masterboard that makes sense. I've done it before and gave up as I could not stand the tags, etc cut from it. In future I'll plan cuts 1st and then work as systematically as you have explained. Thank you for sharing.❤❤
It’s fun to also do a full sheet master board without lines and cut it apart from the back. It’s always a surprise to turn your pieces over and see what you have. Thanks for sharing!
This is a great video on tutorial for creating a wonderful masterboard. Your detail helps me to understand how best to create one. Your instruction is complete and not complicated, easy to understand. Thank you! Love your channel.
Thanks for the video. I have seen many videos of various creators but never watched one. Didnt know what to do with it and what it even was. So i skipped those videos. But your explanation helped me understand it. Its a similar or even identical process to how i create tags for journals.
Margarete: I certainly like your approach to creating a master board. And you get so many pieces out of a 12”square card stock. No waste. Enjoyed this video . Carol from California
Thank you so much Margarete, I have never seen this way of creating a master board, and I think this is very helpful and useful so that none of the master boards are not wasted. It’s a great 👍 idea. I really really enjoyed watching you and listening to. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
You are my heroine , I get frustrated with jnling then chop and change way too much from one craft to the other, my junk jnls are just havoc....this is a brilliant idea, thank you lovely lady 🥰🥰🥰🥰💐💐💐💐💐
This is a wonderful and informative video on master boards. I enjoy watching the collages you create. Explaining the thought process as no other artist does. Thank you for sharing and making these lessons so relaxing to watch. 😊❤
So nice and helpful to see this complete proces! I also really like your style! I had just discovered your channel and have hit the follow button directly 😀
@@MargareteMillerBut what is an Ink box? Never heard of it? And gelatos? I thought that was some kind of Italian ice cream? Oy this new art age terminology is over the top for a senior newbie!!
They are so pretty 😍 I think I can use a blue pencil, water colour and a lot of scraps😊 Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🥰 lots of love from arctic Norway 🥰🌺🌼🌸
Yes! Lots of scraps. You can do big scraps with lots of layering or little scraps, too. And watercolor? That would be very interesting. I'd love to see that combination! 🤩
It’s nice to get a mix of all the sizes! I watched the video on how you made the ‘ink box books’. I love these, and think they are a beautiful size for Christmas gifts. They also stand up easily on their own, so people can display them. Plan to make some! 🎄❤
This was wonderful Margarete, I really enjoyed the whole video. I love watching your creative process, I always find myself feeling inspired with ideas for my own art creations. I had never heard of inkbox cards before so now I’m very intrigued! Thanks so much 💕
Love the way you do your backgrounds! You make everything look so easy, this is even better showing where your lines for the different sizes are, great. I really liked your book rolodex. Some thing else to make plus show off your work. Do you have a video on how you made this or where you saw how to make? Thank you for all the inspiring you do!!!
Hi Marguerite…wondering if you put a light coat of mod podge on the master board. I saw a bit of a sheen. I’ve made master boards by collage with glue sticks and sometimes the pieces come apart. Love it! I may may tweak my master boards with another layer😊. Thanks ☺️
I am not familiar with inkbox cards. How did that size come to get the name of inkbox? Also is it possible to get a link for the company you purchase the scrap rose pieces that you used? Thank you!
"inkbox" because they are almost the same size as Ranger Distress ink boxes. Here's the link to the scrap roses: www.vintage-ornaments.com/craft-supplies/vintage-paper-scraps-die-cuts
I loved watching this. I have a question: The washi tape had buildings that seemed fussy cut when you put them on the masterboard. Am I right in assuming they were fussy cut? How did you do that? I have a hard time imagining fussy cutting an adhesive material without much frustration.
Good eye! Yes, I fussy cut the washi tape. If you tape the edge to the end of a table and hold the other edge, I find I can cut it with out too much trouble. 👍🏻
They are 3x3 inch cards. They’re similar to ATCs, so you can trade them with others. They’re called inkbox cards because they’re a similar size to the Ranger Distress ink boxes.

I don't want to think that much about it. I just lay down the paper. Sometimes it don't even match but I still manage to make it work.
