Done it many times where water was splashing to the upper walkway. Always fun and tons of laughter. The water never sweeps you away as it goes straight up and comes down on top of your head. We would always loose our hats.

"Almost Swept off"? That's a bit of an exaggeration, no? We used to go swimming in May and I'd worry more about hypothermia than getting washed off the pier.
