Director Andrew Dominik and the Pulitzer Prize finalist writer Joyce Carol Oates are the creators of this project.
Both fictionalize the private aspect of Marilyn based on the writer's own book.

As a Marilyn Monroe fan, I have seen lots of documentaries and movies about her but I truly say Ana was the best Marilyn Monroe to portray her….there will never be another Marilyn, but this actress was the closest to her…. Kudos to Ana!!!

Even if the script isn't really good, visually this movie is stunning. The way the camera and sound quality looks and sounds like it was from an 40/50s movie deseves more credits, because that's not an easy thing to replicate

Well it's based on a Joyce Carol Oates book which is more or less fiction so yeah a lot of what was portrayed wasn't reality.
Sadly everything in that movie was pretty much fictional and in my opinion it was really disrespectful to Marilyn but Ana De Armas acting of her was phenomenal

I love it) and her work was still praised, that is the bad work of the director, the producer and the bad decisions they made... because even Netflix fought them to remove some of those scenes and they didn't listen, that has nothing to do with the cast, I've seen some best actress winning movies before... and honestly not all of them were that great, and most weren't nominated for best picture either... and the lead actress still won the Oscar, RIGHT NOW.....the press is 100% in favor of Ana de Armas, probably even long before Blonde ;) and Blonde is her masterclass. Just Imagine the impact on the world if she wins (no impact with any other honestly.... the other actresses best moment with the press is gone)... Tho blonde got low ratings, the set did put much effort to resemble the scenes. One thing I wanna say is that, ana’s did really good job in portraying Marilyn, I can see her expressions is nearly( i wouldn’t say 100%) the same as Marilyn in the scene where she tried to stop her dress from lifting up. Marilyn's death wish was to make her NOT seem like a joke, but the director obviously continued to EXPLOIT her through these unnecessary sexual scenes. Marilyn did go through a difficult childhood and domestic abuse from her lovers. It doesn't mean she wanted the public to know her by only trauma she has dealt with when in reality she was intelligent, strong-minded, and had GOALS. How unfortunate this woman didn't live the life she deserved nor did she have any children to go correct people's weird obsession in fantasizing these WRITTEN stories about her sexual life or her relationships with her absent parents.

Of the many Marilyn Monroe movies that have been made, this is hands down the best. Andrew Dominik paid so much attention to the minutiae: the hair, makeup, clothing, jewels, props, etc... He even found people who look like the people who surrounded Marilyn. For instance, if you see the scene with Marilyn being helped to put on a corset, the woman who is putting the corset on Marilyn looks exactly like the original woman who put the corset on Marilyn. The other movies simply do not have the same level of quality control.

@@SnarkierThan-U-R the movie terrible and ana did a bad job. i know so much about marilyn and have studied her mannerisms, it doesnt even look like ana tried. ana is too soft with her movements and lacks expression in her face. marilyn moved her face a specific to look the way she did on screen and to act out specific lines. ana's movement is so unnatural, you cant even be convinced shes marilyn. in comparison, the guy who played elvis in the elvis biopic practically transformed into elvis, if you didnt see his face , you'd think it was elvis, ana just looks like a bad impersonator.

That's all this movie was good at the costumes, the look, and Ana's performance. But the director choice for showing lies and abuse from a his own perspective and not even the book it was made from was a dumbsterfire of a movie. I hated everybit and Marilyn deserves better.
