Thank you for showing the back because the Bosch instructions are very unclear as to what this insulation is. They talk about removing all the foil in their manual - and I was wondering if the back insulation was the foil referred to. Full marks to you, no marks to Bosch

Anyone bought one recently, and noticed when the compressor comes on, perhaps once an hour, it 'buzzes' for 1 second when it starts up? Not to be confused with whirring noise from the freezer compartment fan which comes on more frequently. I've had two so far, both made in Jan 2019 (FD 9901) with this 'characteristic' BUZZ. Otherwise, the appliance is quiet in use.

@@lords-electrical Bosch, like most other companies, seem to think we don't need the instructions or manual until AFTER we have spent our money! It's no good finding out after parting with your money that the item isn't suitable.
Things I needed to know BEFORE buying:
      1. How to change the door to the other side - for the fridge freezer. People don't want to book having the doors changed if they can do it themselves. John Lewis want £30 for this! Many people can't afford the extra charge so if people can't do it they may have to choose a cheaper machine.
      2. How much gap is needed behind the machine - for the fridge-freezer
      3. Length and temperatures of each programme - for the dishwasher
Bosch require the serial number of each machine PRIOR to allowing you to download the manual or the instructions!
All of the information was included in this video and I found a video by the same person for the dishwasher I wanted. Lords Electrical, the maker of this video, has all the documents, manuals, fitting instructions, safety documents, etc. available on his web site which is a great service. Thank you. NOt to be confused with the door alarm which has a different beep noise. Today that noise stopped (thank God) and the sides are no longer very hot but we suspect the fan has died and just waiting to see if all our freezer food thaws out ? )o:

The exact width is 59.5cm. You don't have to leave too much on the sides, i would mainly recommend space at the back and above, as heat will rise from the compressor at the back of the fridge freezer.

Hello, may I ask for your help please? I have just purchased this exact same fridge freezer, I unpacked everything, then I noticed a little plastic cover on the top of the hose connecting to the drip dray at the back of the fridge, which was held in place by a small black rubber band. I briefly removed the plastic cover and the rubber band, placed it next to the kitchen sink, where it touched a bit of water, suddenly this plastic cover started shrinking and became this sticky little mess, like glue! So, what was that? Do I need to contact Bosch to send me a replacement cover? Is that hose meant to be covered at all times by that plastic cover? Or was it meant to be uncovered during the unpacking of the new product? If it dissolved at the first touch of water, what is it’s purpose? Please help, I have been googling for a couple of hours now with no luck :( Thank you for your time. Ps - I won’t plug this in until I know what the deal with that plastic cover is..

Not sure if you have sorted it, but sometimes wiping round the door seals can help. If they are dirty or mishapen then the fridge freezer can think the door is open, so sometimes getting a warm damp cloth and wiping round the seal can help.

Unfortunately a lot of delivery drivers are not allowed into houses at the moment due to the virus. The mains lead should be at the back of the machine at the bottom. The advice we would normally give, is to make sure the product has been standing for several hours before it is switched on. also give it a good clean inside the appliance before putting food in.Set the temperature dial in the middle to start with, then you should be ready to go.

Too late for you, but someone else may ask the same question, Fridge Freezers and fridges of old had a black grill on the back which was part of the cooling mechanism, most modern fridge freezers and fridges have insulation [usually fire retardant] on the back [Hotpoint still make one with a grill on the back at around £300]
The Fridge Freezers with the grill on the back can not be placed right back to the wall and has spacers to stop it .
In a nutshell, No you can not remove the insulation.
