    You know, I have a lot of respect for Big Boss. Knowing how to disassemble and reassemble so many different devices is amazing. Especially Apple products with all the tiny screws and brackets and latches....drives me crazy!

      Yeah I've always had respect for the work he does, it's so tedious to me. I always forget something when reassembling. His brain must be like a library full of exploded diagrams.

    It's crazy how you have 682 donor boards for everything that comes through your shop! I can't imagine the years it took to accumulate all of that. It's like having tons of free money just laying around your shop, because any time I have something that needs to be fixed, I scour the internet for days only to find that the component I'm looking for is obsolete, too rare to find, too expensive to bother fixing the fault, etc., etc...
    Since channels like yours have exploded in popularity, it has become incredibly expensive for those of us starting out in the electronic repair hobby/business. EBay sellers have taken notice of the massive influx of people buying broken electronics and have increased their prices exponentially! Not only that, it's almost impossible to find some broken projects to work on because so many people have bought all the broken stuff, repaired it at home, and then are re-selling the same used device for 5x the original amount when it left the factory.
    I've bought some old GameBoy's that said "inoperable, for parts only, etc", only to find out that they work just fine. That's how desperate the sellers are to get in on the electronic repair rush. It used to be that you paid for a working laptop, game system, stereo, etc., only to receive a used, beat up, inoperable one! Now the problem is just the opposite! Madness

    • @TB-nf6bs
      @TB-nf6bs 2 года назад +1

      This is so true. It's discouraging for the rest of us who are hobbyists or just trying to keep our own devices going. I imagine someday my asus gaming laptop will have a simular issue. Being armed with the skills and the knowledge is useless when all we can do is stare at the problem with no way to rectify it. We pray for the day but the only option will be to buy another motherboard and it will cost half of what the laptop did. If we are able to source the parts for our own affairs it will be down to luck of the draw for the parts to be available.

    I learned my lesson with surface mounted chips like that a few days ago, you really do want to press down and use plenty of flux, I got immediate results with that. Without pressing much it actually started to short out. Pressing a lot more gave me the perfect result

    Good eye on catching that crack in the chip. I’ve seen my fair share blown\cracked chips, but I’ve never seen a crack so straight and level. I probably would have said manufacturing defect in the chip and skipped over it.

    Yes I see some IT professionals get very involved in using Circuit Diagram and trying to diagnose the fault using superior skill and technology. Unfortunately it takes longer to use that technique. As you say "Efficiency is more important". Time is Money. I have watched a 3 hour video to fix a laptop, and the Technician is charging $60. Impossible to make a living like that.

    Veery very practical, indeed, amazingly practical. Thanks for making these videos. 🤗
    I have one of these laptops lying around, with the same problem (not powering up). I may take a look at it, even if it takes a few hours for me just to dissassemble and locate the fault. Guess I'll be testing MOSFETs for a while; not an expert in those matters.
    By the way, what kind of flux is that? I just have homemade rosin flux (alcohol + rosin), and I honestly don't know if I can use it in such a straightforward way: bunch of solder plus bunch of flux and heat, press down over the component and… no shorts! Crazy. 👍 Thanks again.
