Sorry, I don't like Bishop of Dover - Rose Hudson -Wilkin's comment. If a leader makes a mistake, it's important for them to take responsibility and learn from it. I know resignation wouldn't get to the root of the problem, but it would be the first step to start fixing the issue.

Thank you C4 for referring to Stephen Conway, bishop of Lincoln. You could also look at the role played by Jo Bailey Wells, who was Welby's chaplain, and who is now a bishop in the Anglican Communion Office.
It's a shame that you interviewed Rose H-W, as her treatment of anyone who disagrees with her radical views is best described as bullying. But then she was appointed to another role by that well-known bully, John Bercow, who has been banned from the Parliamentary Estate, a unique punishment for a former Speaker of the House of Commons.

A Roman Catholic from Croatia here! I feel compelled to react as I am sad and shocked at "Bishop" Rose's woke attribution of Smyth's evil doings to 'empoverished understanding of the Bible', which, as (s)he points out, should therefore be reformed/interpreted in a different way. Smyth did not try to please God by strict following of the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible there is even a hint of such behaviour towards others, especially the children. It is evident that he followed his own perverted sadistic nature, not God's voice or the Bible. Those who were aware of it and kept silent are guilty of his crime too. If Archbishop Welby led the Anglican Church away from Jesus Christ's teaching in order to please woke society, then he has done more harm than good to Christiandom in UK and his resignation came far too late.
