John, thanks so much for watching the videos, I appreciate it!
Thanks for watching "Selling Your Art Online". Let me know how you sell your art online - website, Etsy, etc.
I just came across your video today and this is extremely helpful! Thank you!
Hannah, you’re welcome!
Thank you David for the information! it's so helpful! Love your channel.
You’re welcome.
I deeply appreciate the clarification on how to properly specify dimensions... I’ve often gotten it backwards! Also, I’m a big fan of Squarespace, too!
You’re welcome Carl, thanks for watching!
THANKYOU DAVID I NEEDED THIS ❤👍

This is so incredibly helpful!!
Glad to hear it Kate, thanks!
This video was HIGHLY informative! I'm really just getting started learning the business side of art, this video was just what I needed! Coincidentally, I literally just joined Etsy a few days ago in an attempt to find a better place than Fine Art America (they REALLY SUCK!). Well, after watching this, looks like I'll be deleting both; Etsy & Fine Art America & jumping on Square Space asap!
I'm sharing this video on my FB artist page & groups also! Please keep vids like this coming! Thanks!
F. Kenneth Taylor, Thanks for the note. I'm happy to hear it was helpful for you. Thanks for sharing the video, I appreciate that very much. Best wishes to you as you begin selling your work online!
Very clear instructions. Thank you for sharing your expertise David.
So glad I watched this before selecting my website platform. 😏
Garcia, you’re welcome! Best of luck with your website!
Thank you, Sir.
You’re welcome - thank you for watching!
Thank you! 😀
You’re welcome!
Great information! Your videos are fun and informative. Could you do one on "shapes"? Like how to make them "interesting. There's times when I get hung up on the shape of things. Again thanks 👍
Hi Terrence, thanks so much for watching! Shapes are very difficult and take many years to fully understand and implement. I usually go in-depth on shapes in my paid courses, so I don't address it too much in freebies like this. Thanks for the suggestion.
Great video, thanks! What challenges have you had with customers and/or mail and how did you handle the challenge?
Colin, I really haven’t had any issues with customers. I have had some shipped paintings arrive with ripped boxes and things like that. I package my paintings in a two box design that minimizes damage to the paintings if the outer box is damaged. Thanks for watching!
Thank you David for another excellent video. I wonder if perhaps you could do a video on medium as pertains to guidelines on how you describe the medium. For example at what point does an acrylic painting become mixed media ? If I create an acrylic underpainting that has some graphite scribbles, it is mixed media if the entire remainder of the painting is acrylic? If
I put a piece of collage paper in a painting and the remainder is acrylic does it need to be described as mixed media or can
I say acrylic and collage so that a person knows it is predominantly acrylic? I want to be sure to label correctly but
I don’t know if there are set rules! Thank you for reading this long-winded comment!
Deb, I don’t know if there are set rules either. With the pencil example, I would say its just acrylic - if the pencil isn’t visible. With the collage example I think you could say acrylic and collage, or mixed media - which ever works best for you. As long as the customer can understand it, that’s what matters.
Is Square Space about the same as Wix or do you definitely prefer Square Space? i appreciate your video and your information.
Peter, I know of Wix but have no first hand experience with it. Thanks for watching!
Can't seem to get paintings sold on my website. Most sales have come from facebook. A few on ebay.
Maybe there isn’t enough traffic to your website. Selling is complicated with lots of moving parts.
Your painting saltwater 36”. What is the 36 mean. Thanks!, Great info. Just getting ready. Finally.
It means it’s the 36th painting in the “Saltwater” series.
I struggle with the idea that people can download your art and print or use it without permission. With that in mind I’ve put copyright watermarks in my art to protect it from that but it makes the art look awful. Any suggestions?
You can make the watermark smaller so that it is not as noticeable - I have seen others do that with some success. One of the main things you need to do is make sure your images are resized so that they are smaller. This way, the images cannot be enlarged and printed without becoming pixelated.
I would love to sell my arts online, but I do not even know where to start and where to sell ??
I just gave you lots of information on how to start. There is tons of information available on how to do anything you want to do. Remember YOU have to put in the work!
David M. Kessler Fine Art thank you!! I haven’t hear you till the end! I’m sorry!!
I have a website. No one ever buys any of my work on there :(
Marc, it takes work to get folks there so they’ll buy. Just because you build it doesn’t mean they’ll come to it. It’s work!
@@davidm.kesslerfineart1717 I do work. I've been pushing it hard since 2016 and plenty of people visit my site. Facebook links, videos, twitter, all kinds of stuff. I'm pretty good but the only business I seem to get is from commissions rather than sales on my website.
@@davidm.kesslerfineart1717 Of course as soon as you say that I just sold a painting on my website! :)
Marc Tonzillo good for you - congratulations!
@@davidm.kesslerfineart1717 Thanks!
Thanks for myth busting the embarrassing stuff fab info
and sizes use portrait or landscape with height x length maybe European way?
Marianne, I don't know what the European way is, but thanks for watching.
