Ryan Turbidy like his predecessor Gay Byrne are unable to mask what is clearly a dislike of para- military members they have had on the show as guests over the years. Somewhat understandable thankfully as most people will always try a peaceful and negotiated position and will have difficulty in understanding a violent approach. However as Mr. McGuinness had went to great lenght to point out - that the soft glove approach may not work. Most notably Gerry Adams and in this video we have Ryan Turbridy who I find quite frankly - appaling. I have seen Gay Byrne RIP make similar condescending remarks to Gerry Adams - and the bias and tenor of his interview was similar to what you would hear from Michael Parkinson or Jeremy Paxton both British journalists with the BBC. As Mr. McGuiness explained at the beginning was the state of Derry in a sectarian and biased system of both local and provincial government where the Catholic or Nationalist families were constantly harrassed by the authorities. The only response to that was the same as the only response the Crown understood in the few short years before the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921.
