      Awesome. I'm blown away to learn your background now it makes sense that you posted a more "political" video recently and I mean it in the best way possible. I'm pretty sure it's one of the reasons why your channel is different. Also makes me more understanding when there are little inaccuracies 😁
      I love all your videos and got frustrated in horsepower vs torque video because I feel you got so close to making it extremely clear for everyone

    • @d4a
      @d4a Год назад +6

      @@geemy9675Thank you for the kind words. I know you mean well so please don't take my response the wrong way. I'm not in any way offended and am just explaining my side of things. When it comes to the right to repair video and the "inaccuracies" they really don't have anything to do with my background. People often ask me about my background and nationality, I really don't like to respond because the result is more often than not an attempt to correlate too many things with these two. I made the right to repair video because I felt a need to touch upon things that are an important part of today's public discourse, but most of it discusses the symptoms rather than the cause, so I tried to point at what I feel is one of the underlying causes. The motivation for that video comes from my observations of the changes in various markets, not my background. When it comes to inaccuracies, it's important to understand that the channel is mostly dedicated to explaining concepts and sometimes in the attempt to help people wrap heads around a difficult or confusing concept I will prioritize analogies over scientific and semantic correctness. I often get comments from engineers along the lines of "you can't say that!" because obviously it's not the customary explanation. If it conveys the correct logic and concept, that's what matters to me as I feel this is what brings value in that it helps people actually understand certain phenomena. Once the understanding is there it becomes very easy to chase semantics and scientific precision.

      Very interesting interview, both on Andre’s part and yourself.
      Decent people who are not subdued and that we all have to learn and continue to learn throughout our lives .
      Trust me guys we all know that life not easy and would hope many would agree that listeners will have a great deal of respect knowing of your journey to the present day .
      DFA I totally get your political stance (😜) especially when you get to learn about the ‘UN’ and all it’s ‘dubious’ dealings .
      had a similar experience with the financial services industry.
      Went away from engineering, tried financial services, absolutely hated it and the mentality of individuals .
      Yep and went straight back to what I still do now .
      I think both channels and the people behind the scenes deserve a pat on the back and a handshake from the car community for your contributions to the industry.

    i think youtube need some sort of tagging for posts. to indicate whether a comment is meant as fun/joke. or actually serious.
    that way, the uploader can simply ignore those/join in the sarcasm.
    there are some channels that has good casual engagement in the comments section.

    Even before watching the video i can say nope. There are less, but it is not a thing of the past. A prime example is the engine in the BMW M4. The shortblock for the M4 GT3 race car comes from the normal assembly line and is the standard version, one to one like it is in the road car.
    The only thing they open is the bottom when they remove the wet sump and install the dry sump. And then it is ready to deliver 590HP for 30+ hours and full send torture on the racetrack (for top drivers/teams these days a 24H race is like 24H of qualifying laps because since a bit more than a decade the cars are capable of surviving that torture).

    • @Finnspin_unicycles
      @Finnspin_unicycles Год назад +1

      That's what, a 17% power increase over what bmw delivers those engines with in stock? Sure, endurance racing is tough, but they send that engine out with a 4 year, 50k miles warranty at 503 hp with no dry sump, a few weekends at 590 should better be within their safety margins..
