Great RV! Funny, just yesterday I saw an ad for an RV that had pullouts and was just coincidentally fully wheelchair accessible, except of course no lift. It was the first ad I ever seen for an RV that was so accessible. Wish I had the money for it. One day, right? 😊
Thank you for showing your RV John, I am so glad that you have managed almost everything in your needs. One day, I would consider purchasing and coordinating a Van based on my ability.
Absolutely brilliant! Also a great presentation, John. Thanks! My wife is a C5-6 quad and we're looking at RV conversion ideas. Great set up! Thanks and safe travels. :)
Thank you for your service! I really like the way you made the whole RV accessible. I can’t help but wonder why you didn’t make the shower a little easier for you? I have been a paraplegic for over 30 years and unfortunately my shoulders are getting worse with age. It’s hard to see In the video how far you have to transfer to get in the shower. Also wondering if you have to have a CDL license to drive it? Great job! If I ever hit lotto this is exactly one thing I would buy!
Thanks for the comments. I did not want the roll in shower because too much chance to get water out of shower and into other corners and cause rotting. That transfer is not bad as long as you have upper body strength. CDL = COMMERCIAL Drivers License. This is not Commercial when you are driving personal RC so, No CDL needed. However, I often was towing a trailer over 10,0000 lbs. Therefore, I did get a CLASS A license, which allows for same size vehicle as a CDL, only for personal use. Much easier to get. Only had to take small test and driving test. If I towed less than 10,000 lb trailer, no Class A license needed.
Amazing! I make use of a wheelchair too. Congratulations! Unhappily we don´t have this kind of technology here, in Brazil. And when it arrives, it´ll be too expensive. But I´m looking for another option for me...
That is such an awesome rig. I learned quite a bit from your video. I hate to pry, but how much would something like this cost and who would I contact to have one built like this? I greatly appreciate you sharing this with us all.
It's funny to see us wheelchair folks eyeing the ride he's in. I thought, "He's rolling in a TiLite." The question remains: Did he get it before Invacare bought the company?
How worthwhile is getting one of these? I'm about to retire and wondering if its feasible to get one of these to tour north America for a couple years? I wonder how tiresome it would get after a year. For example it looks like it's a nightmare to change the bedding, get to the cupboards above the bed. And I imagine it comes in handy that you travel with at least 1 able bodied person to help with hookups to water/sewage etc? And is it hard to find a place to park each evening?
I used it for work mostly. When travelling, you have to go where tractor trailers go, not into small parking lots or tight shopping areas. If you were going to have one to "see the US", you would likely want a smaller RV or want to tow a vehicle behind so you have wheels to go somewhere once you are parked. I made many trips without an able-body with me. Just don't put things in cabinets that you cannot reach.
John , if you don’t mind me asking how much did this amazing set up run you ? I’m a paraplegic too and dreaming about something like this. If you don’t wanna answer me on here I completely understand but would love to be able to email you.
Not so much what did it cost in 2004 but what would it cost to get a new one today. Used, this one would cost about 130k, new one today would cost about 240k.
Go back to video 10:30 into the video to see the driving hand controls. This one is 2005 model. would cost about 250k if new. There are many others out there used for sale.
I pray that one day I have the Means to get/do things like this 🙏🏼 this channel gives me courage That everything is going to be OK
Me, too! I hope you are well and okay! ✝️🙏
