Jen said in a interview that Not Dead Yet is about overcoming her anxiety. She said Korey Cooper really helped her with that too. My Arms is the most impressive song of hers that I've heard as far as her vocal range, just amazing. That song is written from the perspective of God as well. Idk the drummer's name but he commits a hate crime on the high hat throughout Not Dead Yet lol! Great reaction as always, Cheesy!
Jen is one of my all time favorite power drummers, who can belt out vocals at the same time. It's always weird for me, watching her in a lead vocal, and not behind a kit. Same feeling when she is not performing with skillet, and Lacey Sturm takes over for her on stage. It's all amazing, just throws me off. Love, Love, Love Jen! 🤘 Try "Goner". There is a special version they do at home. It's one of those pandemic Zoom style videos, but came out great.
What are you doing this is not The Warning? LOL great choice I had never heard her sing I have heard of skillet but have not listened to any of their stuff that I know of. Keep finding great music and stay Cheezy my friend.
While Jen and Korey Cooper were off doing this side project, the other two from Skillet, John and Seth put out there own side project "Fight the Fury". They went hard. Worth taking a look at if you're interested.
You got me curious. Ledger is Jens' single work outside of the band Skillet [as their drummer] which is classified as "Christian hard rock". I don't know if her single work has religious overtones, but I'd define it as simply alternative rock.
You should try listening to some of sum 41s heavier tracks like screaming bloody murder and songs off of chuck like we're all to blame, they're really good. Their whole catalog is amazing, but it's really cool how they evolved for the better unlike many other pop punk bands who went pop, sum went thrash metal, and did it well.
Not Dead Yet had a nice vibe and I enjoyed it quite a bit! The second one wasn't really my cup of tea, I didn't care for those "downward" sounding verse lines. Not sure if that's the right way to put it, but they felt out of place with the rest of the song. But I never would have known of this band if not for your reaction videos, so thanks for that!
It is very exciting to hear influences that an artist chooses to include in their own unique sound. I totally understand that when trying to relate to someone a song or performer without mentioning a particular genre may not drive the point home. Perhaps we can call offerings such as this just simply great rock songs :) Slight cringe moment for me early in "Not Dead Yet" when I heard the auto tune (not a fan). Jen didn't use it as a crutch however, nor does she need to, just simply an effect added to grab attention to the section and give it some flavor.

Well said Steve. I agree about the autotune but I see it okay when added as an effect, like you said, she does not need it lol
