Mansley is a story set in the early 2000’s 40 years after the events in Rockwell.
Story: Kent Mansley is now an old man being interviewed about his life spent chasing down the Iron Giant. Mansley goes into detail about his life and obsession, flashing back on his past, and ways he tried to track him down. One day he stumbles on the key.
History: Christian Day, a cg artist in commercials and VFX, first conceived this project as a small :30 second trailer that would have been quick to put together, as well as a project to work with on with friends, but it changed and morphed into something much larger over time. It took 4 years of on and off, re-shoots, pick up shots and re-edits. The team of Christian Day and Richard Jones shot parts of it every year for 4 years in a row, all in October, to stick to the feeling of the original shoots. The big push was to finish in time for “Ready Player One”, with music and end credits to go the team pulled it off just in time for the “Ready Player One” release, which the Iron Giant appears in.

Man, the actor playing mansley in this did a amazing job, protraying the character, right down to the speech patterns

interesting story. The 'bad guy' learns to do good while searching for the Big Guy.
I don't think Kent was really the bad guy his intentions were good just not well thought out.

Not the bad guy? Kent intentionally tried to kill the Iron Giant, knowing fully well that Hogarth was in the Giant's hands. Oh, and don't forget that he drugged Hogarth and threatened to separate him from his mother forever.
So it’s Kent Mansley, after nearly destroying Rockwell; is out looking for the Iron Giant. Sounds like a good movie o^o
The fact that its live action is dope too since the original animated film was very realistic.

So, Mansley finally realized his mistake after what happened after he mistakenly ordered to fire the nuclear missile at Iron Giant, at a town, where he and others are? And now he's taking care of Iron Giant, piecing him back together? Now This I wanna see turned into a movie instead of a short film.
I'd like to see the sequel where Kent mansley redeems himself.

This needs to happen! The original story line but live action... The same actors that voiced the characters with the exception of the kid. This would be EPIC!

I would say: Use the same dialogs and everything, just change the visuals from 2D to 3D. There is no flaws in the music or voice acting at all.
If you mean except for Eli Marienthal as Hogarth Hughes, which do you mean, keep Hogarth as a kid, but recast him with a current child actor, or have someone else take over as an older Hogarth?

The Giant's Dream is documentary that highly recommendable. It gives anybody a deeper look in the making of The Iron Giant.
As soon as he said "got out of jail", I knew who it was. This is a great concept film, or short story.

Loved this movie as a kid.
Wow! To see Mansley now reflect in recognizes faults, is good. I watched Iron Giant a lot as a kid, and I recently watched it in 2023, and for the first time, saw the deleted scenes. This movie was is highly underrated, but it’s still classic in my eyes.
I was surprised when I first saw this that it was Kent Mansley. It's interesting to see a redemption story for him.
This "Short" makes what Hollywood keeps chugging out look amateurish at best. Well done.

If they ever do decide make a sequel tv show or a franchise to the first movie this should be the main reason mansley and the giant and see how there bond grows because I could make it if given the chance and I could take the book and adapt it for that

He seems to have repented. He mentions his "mistakes" from his early days.
I don’t think of him as being bad per say; just mis informed. It’s kind of in our nature to be fearful of that which we don’t understand.

I just realised, the Iron Giant would make for a great SCP Foundation prequel.
