I like the branding and complicated names too. It reminds me of the Empire from the Warhammer old world, where their repeater pistols and handguns had the official names "Von Meinkopt's Micro-Mainspring of Multitudinous Precipitation of Pernicious Lead" and "Von Meinkopt's Whirling Cavalcade of Death" :-)
Im so happy to see an update to the Kharadron Overlords. They were my first "real" AoS army. I was never a big fan of the Dwarfs of the old world but the Kharadrons are so unique and interesting!
I think it’s super interesting that we not only have 3 unique responses too the age of chaos, and now three unique play styles. KO-movement DP-elite shooting FS-horde Good stuff
Love the fluff, concept art, and most of the models. Probably my favorite fluff from any GW product. Eager to see if ships perform better and excited about trying out improved Grunstok Gunhaulers as battleline with Barak-Urbaz, the skyport where duardin of refined taste and sophistication gather to swap stories and ales after a long and profitable voyage.
Thanks for the lore video Doug! You always give a sense of scope and how it feels to be in the mortal realms. Also, the branding and debearding for skimping on the booze reminds me that technological does not always equal humane by our standards :) I'm really interested in finding out more about what was in the new battletome; in your stream where you went through the Kharadron battletome, you mentioned a channel where they read through the whole thing. Could you point me towards them please? Love your content, keep up the good work :)
Hey! Thanks for your awesome video!!! Something that strikes me the more I learn about the Kharadron, is that the way they work is actually how the European Union works. I just recently got started with age of sigmar and started doing the Kharadron frigate (which I named "Brexit", cuz I ordered it the day the UK left, and since it was shipped from the UK well you get my point) The thing is, as a master's student of EU law, there are things that strike me in Kharadron's as acting like EU: 1 st of all: they care about trade, and EVRYTHING that impacts trade and profit thereof. From the EU point, it's exactly what the EU is based on. 2. : Regulation of alcoholic beverages. This one is most likely a coincidence, but if it isn't, it's a really clever reference; a very well known law ruling by the ECJ, which made the law of interior trade (aka regulations on the EU market) possible was also about alcohol and the percentage of alcohol in the beverage (Cassis de Dijon) 3: the functions of the Artycles : based on trade, the EU has made a ton of réglementation even in fields that relate remotely to trade (for example sound nuisance from airports or financial aids to schools by the member states) just like the Kharadron interpret everything to their needs. 4: the pragmatism ; the EU and kharadron both share the same surge for pragmatism, casting gods and beliefs aside. 5: history; born from the ashes of a devastated realm (WWII devastation for EU) they have gone through an Era of expansion until a new type of catastrophe hit them (2008 crisis for EU) that had them re-evaluate and rework their society. Sorry for the long comment and I still hope you'll read it, thanks a lot!
yes :) there are more coming. Im waiting for the flood of books to slow for a bit before i go backwards. I suspect they will shift focus to 40k here in a little bit!
If you ever get the chance, try reading Overlords of the Iron Dragon and Profits Ruin. There are quite a few extra details about the KO society and how the upper class rules and behaves... Ever heard of Grudge Masks? ;) The books are easily swallowed if you are a fast reader, I read both of 'em in 4 days during the evenings. One detail you might want to know... is how easily a ship can be taken from it's captain if he/she does not profit well enough. The politics between merchant lords and captains are not always full of understanding and respect. Also, in Profit's Ruin I saw some Barak Mhornar action if you are curious about them.
I just wish they made the Arkanaut Company able to hit harder. They don't look like they stand a snowball's chance in hell to take or hold and objective from Mortek Guard or Ardboyz. I'd want at least 2 on the attacks characteristic of their cutters. Or maybe a 3+ to wound on their pistols.
That is actually a nifty idea putting company logos on the side of the hull/boat have to be skilful free handing it though. If someone does do it could they email you pictures to discuss in the future?.
Skaven saved the world when they messed with the pyramid. Do you think there will be any stories when order and chaos work together to fight death? At least in small scale ways
You know what seems like a fun idea after this video? The Kharadron West Aqshy Trading Company.
Yes
I love the idea of duardin snake oil salesmen trying to pass off inferior alcohol to humans.

“Each of your armies is like a company.”
Ahhh, now I don’t feel so bad paying $50 to hire some Arknaught Company!
... almost...
Top hat and power armor wearing steampunk sky dwarfs hell ya!!! I love age of sigmar lore if only for them they are amazing!
The code reminds me of the Ferengi Articles of Acquisition.
9:50, man it's images like that that make me so excited for where this army goes next in terms of models.
Sure sounds like the KO took a page out of the Munich Beer Quality standards of the late Renaissance. Love it!
Thought the thumbnail had ‘Gorka-torium’ in it, immediately thought of a ‘Morka-stra’
Performing orcs, that’s your next army.

Now that is interesting. I would like to do some narritive games based on this kind of story telling, but no one in our group plays these guys yet
Thanks man, this is great for rebuilding the forces!

i really want a KO themed video game where you get to captain your own ship; sort of a mount and blade meets AoS
i cant wait to put a dwarfen mcDoneld stikker on the side of my ship

Thanks for your great work. So you plan on continuing Cities of Sigmar's lore week any time soon?
that is a dead meme. haha

A very extremely awesome video as always Doug.

Man I really want one of those large ships shown on 10:01
Excellent video as always my man. Thanks and keep 'em coming.
Even the most sub par Duardin Swill, is like sweet ambrosia to ungies
Urge to start a KO army themed around marketing blimps
Kharadron puddle jumpers in space 40k version
what other battletome were fun for you to read?
Flesh Eater Courts, Nighthaunt, Beasts of chaos and Gloomspite gitz were all fun, off the top of my head :)
@@2Tough Yeah, when reading Gloomspite gitz battletome you can see the writters had a lot of fun.
Does Karadron code have artycle 50? If so, is it about leaving a skyport?
That is actually a nifty idea putting company logos on the side of the hull/boat have to be skilful free handing it though. If someone does do it could they email you pictures to discuss in the future?.
When are they going to release one of those massive battleships?!
PIC Craig you can get three kinds right now good soul :)
Skaven saved the world when they messed with the pyramid. Do you think there will be any stories when order and chaos work together to fight death? At least in small scale ways
I have no idea, but I fin the idea super interesting!
The creators of Sunless seas and Sky should make a video game with Kharadron Overlords, there right down Failbetter Games's alley.
First!
Definitely thinking about making KO my secondary army
