- The train between Oslo and Bergen in Norway brings you along some pretty scenic landscapes, Europe's biggest mountain plateau, the Hardangervidda. It's not just a relaxed and sustainable way to travel between Norway's biggest cities, it's also one of the prettiest railway journeys you can imagine. Join me on board of the Bergensbanen where I'll show you Oslo Central railway station, the trains and the views from the train.
▬▬▬▬▬▬ ABOUT TICKETS ▬▬▬▬▬▬
You can book tickets on www.entur.no (make sure you only select trains and you select for the towns the names with station at the end, otherwise it doesn't work well) of on the website www.vy.no. If a train is fully booked, you can try to split your ticket. The train is almost never 100% fully booked for the entire journey because people also might take this train for shorter sections of the route.
In general, if you book train tickets in advance, you have lower ticket prices (promotion fares). For fully flexible tickets, you'll pay the full price.
For this train tickets do always come including a seat reservation. I was traveling with Interrail, also for Interrail passengers it's obligaded to reserve a seat. In Norway there is no 1st class, however on some routes there is a kind of extra class, that's the pluss class om this route. For a Pluss class reservation the Interrail / Eurail surcharge is higher.
Because trains can be fully booked, the bus is the 2nd alternative to me. Busses can be booked (at least time tables can be found) via the Entur website as well.

Thank you for mentioning the area and the toilets accessible for the disabled persons, RUclipsrs usually don't talk about that when it's definitely the kind of precious information we (people in a wheelchair) need when planning a trip !
I took this Oslo-Bergen VY train back and forth in August of 2022, it was an amazing experience, the landscapes are so beautful and overwhelming ! And the toilets were actually more convenient than the ones in the "accessible" hotel rooms I stayed in in Oslo and in Bergen ! lol
I really hope I'll get to come back and do that again. In the meantime, your videos are taking me back there, so thank you for that, I enjoy them so much !
Cheers from Paris, France !
I’ve taken this trip before, it’s absolutely spectacular
I took this trip in April all the way to Bergen and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I recommend making it all the way to Bergen and then staying there to take the day trip to the fjords, you won't forget it. Also try the train to Trondheim from Oslo as well, it's not as well known but just as amazing.
I guess Norway has A LOT of amazing train rides. The line Bergen - Oslo is I guess the most popular line for tourists and visitors alike however there is so much more awesomeness in Norway. Also the route between Stavanger and Oslo is awesome (especially between Stavanger and Kristiansand).
I liked this video
I love the Tupac mural at the beginning.
It's nice isn't it?

Ye it’s nice to see people showing him love.
Nice trip Jonne! I've done part of this track years ago, it's absolutely stunning.
Heeey Amders 😀. Thank.youz igs awesome isn't it? I enjoyed so much during this Norway trip.
Beautiful video, I did the same trip, it was amazing!
1. I truly love your channel. Keep doing the best work. Such creative videos you’ve on this channel. Just subscribed!
Knowing you were in Norway, I was hoping you'd do this route. It's absolutely beautiful.
It is absolutely beautiful, I guess I even wasn't there in the prettiest time of the year.
*❤KINGDOM OF NORWAY❤*
Bergensbanen is a very popular line and is quite often fully booked. I can only imagine how big demand would be if they actually built the new stretches that have been planned for a long time. A goal for the line would be 4 hours, that would reduce plane travel by quite a lot.
Because of the high demand, Vy actually had to pay the Norwegian goverment to run this line.
Starting from 2026 these old trains will get replaced by brand new Stadler FLIRTnex trains
I think Norway really needs to improve the rail network, it's a comfortable way to travel and the travel time is very doable, however in recent years, rail infrastructure really didn't had much priority (thank goodness that's changing now).
A 4 hour travel time would be really competitive indeed. Probably I'll try to take this route when they have the new trains, it's so pretty (and I want to see it in the summer time).
I understand the need to replace old equipment, but Flirts are now known to be comfortable long distance trains. This train has that flavour of long distance, large widnows, the café, luggage car etc. (and look at how long it can be and the capacity it can carry).
@@jfmezei This is a different variant of FLIRT than the ones operating in Norway already. Having engine power distributed along the train can also be a benefit on this line.
Love your video channel, full of guides and info. Very creative, keep it. Good work. Just subcribed. Thanks alot. if i need questions, may i ?
Thank you that's great to hear.
Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
@@Trainviking im planning going on this year Dec till Jan, Norway and few cities there. i not sure where to start? im will be from Oslo. Plan to go Bergen, Flam and Tromso. And would like to stay in Flam few nights. May i know, also Myrdal and Voss? is it worth stay few nights there? thanks
I can't understand what seat number could be near the window😢
❤🇳🇴❤
Some seats can be to big for small people, so they have to fit to everyone.
How can I book the first class seat online if I have an interrail pass?
Best thing is to call Entur, you can find the number on www.entur.no I've heard there's also a way to do this online via that website, but I didn't try this yet myself.
What’s the best company to get a ticket.

The route is fantastic, but your video is terrible, you show the train, but not the scenery.
There are many videos that show the scenery, I tell how it is to make the journey and what to expect as a passenger, one more comment like this and you don't deserve this channel and you're blocked.
