For the first time in history, poor musicians can afford a brand new, fully featured, quality, knobby true VCO analog keyboard polysynth. THANK YOU KORG FOR LISTENING!!!!
@@thiagopogliesi3856 well, you should also compare it to another fully featured, knobby true VCO analog keyboard polysynth in your country and the case is probably similar.
I want to marry Tatsuya Takahashi! The products that he has helped engineer for Korg over the last half decade have been incredible; It really gives me faith that the big synth manufacturers can develop *interesting* new products, with their own unique and inspiring sounds. We are living in a new golden era of synthesizers, and Korg is leading the way in affordability and making inspirational instruments. I was hoping for a "Poly Volca" at this price range. At most I hoped for a Volca keys x 4, with stripped down but fun features. Instead Korg has made a 4 voice analog poly that satisfies everything a synth player could ask for in an affordable analog poly synth. For us newer generation of analog-lovers who weren't fortunate enough to grow up with older gear, or who simply can't afford to buy vintage classics, this piece of kit is a godsend. Congrats to everyone who worked on this! You have likely defined a generation of synth players with this hardware. Good job.
In a way this is kind of a suped up version of the volca keys, that's why they can hit a price point that low for something this great. I can't wait to buy this
this is a godsend to those of us that started earlier on and have a lot of old gear as well. Korgs instruments have been crucial for me for a little more than 2 decades and they continue to reinforce/justify my being a fanboy of their company with products like this
+inthefade Yes, in my experience, it often boils down to one specific person within a company who makes all the difference. Tatsuya is definitely that guy for Korg. My Minilogue is on order.
This guy really knows what musicians want and need. Most gear demos are frustratingly horrible with either none sense playing and / or absolutely unusable sounds. Big kudos to this guy that made and demoed this, so refreshing on that aspect alone and more. +The ring mod is a very nice touch!
Sensium It is not possible, cause Europe prices are always with taxes US prices always without. In other words ask your state why you have to pay so much taxes. Korg is not responsible for that,
For realz. I read quite a few ridiculous, cringeworthy comments about this synth at one of the music forums I frequent earlier. People complaining about the build quality, feature set, sound, etc thinking it should be magically cheaper than it already is. Morons.
I never was a Korg fan, but this will be my first... Because they seem to cater for the average Joe, not the elitist Euro Rack crowd. 500 bucks for this is a QUARTER of what the competition asks for I hope this will steer up the analog world. In your face Roland
For people complaining about the size of the keys... Just stop already. These are a great size for really fast performance oriented on the fly playing while tweaking various parameters with your other hand.
I've been shy of KORG for many years unless I had a MS20, POLYSIX, etc in front of me. However, this is absolutely stunning. Thank you for taking everything that is beautiful about KORG and bringing it together in a very musical instrument. hats off
I hope korg pays this guy rediculous high salaries because he is brilliant and is a great spokesmodel and his demonstration is perfect too. What an astounding product at an astounding price. I would kiss this korg team right on the mouth
Tatsuya Takahashi made me start buying equipment and composing and recording again after 30 years. Hurts my wallet, does wonders for my quality of life.
Tatsuya Takahashi = genius. very clever to use the warmth of analog along with the new possibilities of digital control in a package that is so easy to use.
For a lot of reasons, I consider this to be the analog MicroKorg. And I love the original MicroKorgs, even if it is a digital synthesizer. I own 3 of them, so they're definitely doing something right. It gets a bad rap, but the functionality on the MicroKorg when you get past the presets, it's capable of some great, complex sounds and modulations. I think the Minilogue picks up where that left off in the best way imaginable. I'm really excited by what I'm hearing and seeing out of this synthesizer and I hope to purchase one when I have the funds available.
tiboliebymusic Only what's out already. I'm still waiting for mine, and apparently may have to wait another 3 months, unless there's a fault in the shipping computers

Yeah I'm not sure about this bit... "sound wave" doesn't sound right to me. But actually, this synth is capable of producing a sine wave - by turning the resonance of the filter to max without any oscillators. You can even tune it and use key tracking filter cutoff to play the filter. But he certainly didn't do that here. Maybe the editor didn't intend to have the dialogue match the demonstrations just yet. But probably it's just a mistake.
That's fucking crazy that it can do all that for 500 bucks. It's really a workhorse synth the majority of the sounds most people would ever really want to make on a subtractive synth can all be made on this thing . What a cool product
oh boy oh boy oh boy This is like what game developers felt when Unity and Unreal went free. This s the music producer equivalent of that glorious moment of 2015. Not free but unbelievably affordable.
If the LFO goes audio-range, and the ENVs are snappy, then it's a done deal for me. A couple years back, I had a laundry list of synths to add to my collection, and on it, Korg was only represented once (the Delta). Since then, Korg has been releasing these intuitive, inexpensive, and entirely usable products, and I've acquired more Korg than anything else. Didn't see that coming...
I've been thinking about getting a synth for ages. Just as a starter, was thinking about either getting some of the volcas (FM/sample) and/or maybe a kaossilator 2 but don't really know what to go for, especially when this seems like quite an amazing deal and best value for money. So what's peoples opinions on a couple of volcas etc. rigged together vs. the minilogue or even the monologue independant - what's the difference between the two?
camman1056 as a first serious synth, just go with the minilogue and don't waste money and time on other equipment until you have explored the many possibilities this synth offer. Then, if your interest is true, there is always time to complete your kit with other tools...maybe an electribe sampler is the right complementary companion for this amazing little synth. The minilogue is simply perfect to learn the art of soundshaping.
Update... Have it for two weeks now, altough filters are different to my Polysix ( a bit more agressive on minilogue) , oscillators sound very similar . the reason why the Polysix sounds "Bigger' is because of the 6 voice polyphony and the unbeatable ssm2040 filter chips (I think)....I use them together now and the results are absolutely STELLAR. They complement each other in a way I never heard before.....
In February 2017, Tatsuya-san announced his move from engineering lead to an advisory position (still with Korg) through which he can ‘explore new areas where sound and technology can have positive social implications.’ Also moving from Tokyo to Cologne.
YouzTube99 makes you wonder if Korg steps back from the analog game. This guys been key in their revival from the monotron, ms20/arp, to the volcas, and now this thing. Do they fill his void or just up his paycheck to come back?
Just Wow! Korg has done it again with the Minilogue! I guess we're looking for a new best seller! This amazing synth is going to sell like hot cakes! :)
It's cool for the money, but I wish companies would start to move beyond the architecture of 1980s synth design. We've been stuck there (and with those sounds) for three decades now. It's possible to make a synth as cheaply that makes new sounds, but it would take new options, like audio-freq modulation of the filter.
Maybe a microfreak? It has the same architecture with a filter, envelopes, an lfo... But you can get really weird sounds from the digital oscillator. Maybe in the future they will add better fm oscillators.
I am about to buy my first analogue synth. Its been tough choosing between the Korg MS 20, the Moog mother 32 and the Roland Ghaia. But this is the one for me I think. I am buying it because it was clearly designed by Q from he new James Bond films.
+Placid Casual It's a great first synth trust me. In fact you could assemble full tracks with it by syncing it with your computer which is usually pretty easy.
+Thomas Green (composer) Lol - yes, thank you Thomas. I know the Gaia isn't a true analogue synth, I meant that it was on my list of possibles for my first hardware synth. I considered it for its versatility and enjoyed playing a friends. I really liked the MS 20, but don't understand patching (I am new to home recording and synths etc). The general consensus seems to be that the Korg minilogue is versatile and good value
Korg know what they are doing and they listen to demands of their customers. Awesome and well thought out product! I hope delay can be set to produce a good chorus. It would be great if there was an 8 voice paraphonic mode, similar to that on the Poly 800, though. I wouldn't say it sounds warm as it's leaning more towards cutting, bright character, but this can be excellent when you need the synth to cut through. But I'm sure that with a bit of work and careful filter setting it can sound mellow, too. I'm looking forward playing it.
This looks great, I can't wait to see how far people will push it. Shame there is no CV outputs and patch-ability but the modulation options seem nice anyway.
More great stuff from Korg savior Tatsuya. Also love the Volca FM. Something I would really really love to see is a Volca sized mixer perhaps 6 or 8 channel if possible with a few basic effects. This would be great to run all the volcas through so you don't need a big desk. It could make a Volca set up for live performance a lot more portable and less complicated. I currently use a Korg KM-402 which is an old 4 channel DJ mixer with a built in Kaoss pad. I'm thinking scale something like that down. Only needs to be mini jack inputs. No need for faders just the small Volca style rotaries. No need for a Kaoss pad say 4 or 6 really usable effects that can be assigned separately to each channel. So I could put some reverb on the keys and some overdrive on the bass for example. Some sort of system like with the big effect knobs on a Pioneer DJM 900 directly below the EQ. Just select effect and channel you want the effect on then adjust parameter. I dunno maybe i'll just keep dreaming.
This is how you know Korg is big company! 500$ for a 4 voice analog poly....Amazing....the soud is Crazy.....good job Korg! I'm buying one for sure! I'm so happy i wanna cry lol :)

I wouldn't say it sounds warm as it's leaning more towards cutting, bright character, but this can be excellent when you need the synth to cut through. But I'm sure that with a bit of work and careful filter setting it can sound mellow, too. I'm looking forward playing it.
tatsuya is the man when it comes to making desirable synths
This dude lookin hella cool with that synth and his whole aesthetic
This is incredible
+Zachary Crawford Someone finally won the 500 dollar synth contest.
