Since recently buying this synth, I can't seem to switch it off. To infinity & beyond. It's highly addictive & unbelievable. A never ending play thing.
Some people are complaining that the sound is too bright and that the envelopes click. I guess these people haven't heard of lowering the filter cutoff and/or opening up the attack time :> I can't wait to get mine!
Just to clarify, minilogue's 100 factory presets can be edited or overwritten, so it actually has capacity for a total of 200 user programs, each of which can contain not only synth voice parameter settings but also step and motion sequence information.
Wow - 10 times more information than the most "popular" demo. No questionable noodling, or cringe inducing sounds . Plus great editing and examples at the end. You really did your homework and uploaded one day after the video that has 10 times more views. You also answered questions that commentors are still arguing about on the other channels. I now have only one. Is the pitch destination of the lfo for both oscillators or oscillator 2 only ? Thanks so much for providing Korg a thoughtful and realistic demonstration of their new baby.
Hi +OneyedSon, thanks for watching! The LFO affects both VCO1 and VCO2 equally, but there is an 'under the hood' feature that can be set per patch for 'LFO Voice Sync' to choose whether the phase of the LFO will be synchronized between voices.
+Kraft Music Aha - very cool - That's probably why some were postulating that there was a single lfo for the 4 voices. Most of the sounds we've been hearing have had the phase sync set to 'on'. www.korg.com/us/support/download/manual/0/544/2876/ Thanks again !
+OneyedSon I just ordered one. After having bought an Artuira minibrute about a year ago. I haven't gotten the Korg Minilogue yet but just from what I've seen this blows the Minibrute out of the water. and they're roughly the same price.
+CallMeBronco I'm in love with the concept of this synth also, but comparing it to the minibrute is unfair. They are completely two different types of synths plus I got my minibrute for $300 6 months ago. It's almost like comparing the Sh-101 with the Juno-106,.
I did exactly the same as you, i now own both, and while it's true the minilogue is really packed feature wise, it doesn't replace the minibrute!! what i do is i run the audio out of the minilogue into the audio in of the minibrute, and a midi cable that sends midi from the brute to the minilogue, so basically you have one giant synth which is a combination of the two, with multiple envelopes, filters etc... you can do so many great stuff with these two combined! you can reverse the routing if you want though, you can run the brute into the minilogue, but i found the first version to work better in most cases !! you can also send the same midi to both of them while you adjust the parameters.. the minilogue's sounds combined with the minibrute's grit... beats many very high end synths imo.
Looks like Korg put a lot of thought & effort into this synth. You did them justice with the thought & effort you put into this demo. Very well done indeed! Thank you.
I rarely leave comments, but I just have to say that in addition to being really excited about this synth, this was an extremely well-done and thorough review. An excellent job from one of the best reviewers I've seen when it comes to new music gear.
DOUBT NOT. this synth is AWESOME. i have had mine for a week and every day i get something truly beautiful out of it. i could make an entire album with just this synth and a good beatbox. ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND THEN SOME...ALOT OF SOME. i played the Moog 37 and of course its a much deeper broader synth but for ONE THIRD the cost you can get pretty damn close to serious competition. and its built quite well. the knobs are some of the best feeling knobs I've used. Don't doubt this synth just because the keyboard sucks or the modulation lever. thats easy to fix with a good controller but when your programming it (AND YOU WILL) the keys work just fine. what you can't fix is SOUND and it SOUNDS amazing. truly. its kicking my little phatty and my weldorf pulse 2 for sheer fun and WARMTH. yes even better than my moog. its one of the biggest pleasant surprises I've had in a while
+Uprightest The Prophet 6 of 2016 but affordable. Companies flooding the market with pricey monosynths, VA polys and obscenely expensive analog polys have just been served notice by Korg.
god, you just gotta love what korg is doing these days. fricking love my ms-20 mini, volca beats, and the new electribe. oh and their ipad apps are amazing, like the ipolysix. korg has still got it... roland on the other hand... lol.
Great review on this thing! Nice to see a new analog synth that's affordable and actually convinces with sound quality, not only with just "being analog" (and sounding like crap).
Great review. Knocks it all down; no fluff or stuttering. Really well presented! Subbed, without hesitation. The single omission; I would have liked to know the approximate frequency range of the LFO... audio range to (almost) imperceptibly slow, preferred.
You would be appreciated by many I'm sure, if you had courses on line - - for the use of devices like this one. The world needs more clear thinking wordsmiths like yourself!
Awesome demo video of this new outstanding synth! top sound, pretty cool different voice settings including duophonic and chord memory, huge tweaking possibilities, true 4-voice! amazing sequencer! I felt in love with minilogue :-)
+VolcaRock I like it quite a bit, a great value entry level synth. Though the filter sounds a bit "meh" to me, and it really could have done with a second LFO IMHO.
aikighost I like the filter from what I Iheard so far, it sounds different to my Juno60 and different to my Microwave.I always look for stuff which I do not already have. Of course a second LFO would be nice, but in the end the synth is what you make out of it. Entry level is only the price, not the features. Other companies would sell such a synth for at least twice the price.
Somehow Korg is the only one making relatively affordable great instruments for the average income person. Thank god not every company has the "High End" philosophy of Moog, Dave Smith, Mac Beth etc where you need 1000 euros + to get to the basics.... I understand that an expensive instrument sometimes sounds expensive too and has it`s purpose but they could adjust-open up a bit to the world of economically "normal people". Thank you Korg from someone with not that much money but all the will to go the way of sound
I've always held Korg superior to Roland and now, with this production, it's undeniable proof that Korg is at the forefront of providing what synth lovers have been longing for. I hope this does well enough for them to go further and offer an affordable 8 voice as they did with the Poly-800.
Having been born in the 80s, i did half my growing up in the digital age. I have Logic Pro X that has a lot of digital representations of vintage synths but true synths are always so awesome. I LOVE the jupiter 8!. But this thing is a beautiful device, vintage look with a touch of modern, not too overdone
Thorough and well paced review. Two questions; (1) Any Aftertouch? (2) If there is no aftertouch then I see a major issue. Most synth lead lines require simultaneous pitch bend and modulation, but I can't see how I could achieve this easily with the Minilogue? This seems a glaring screw up if it's the case.
Feedback to Zero for Hi Pass ... No one else has mentioned that .. I just picked up your Bundle Minilogue and Bag on Reverb today after watching your review.
+Gavin Howe Yes! From the manual: 'The minilogue lets you assign MIDI control change numbers (CC#) to the major parameters that affect the sound, and control these parameters from an external MIDI sequencer while you play the tone generator. You can also use the front panel knobs or buttons to transmit these control change messages, in order to control an external MIDI device.'
Hi all! If you are looking for more presets for the Minilogue, I've been making a bank with over 150 new presets. Primarily consist of all kinds of pads and keys-type of sounds, plucks and arps (although there are some well needed bass and leads as well). Cinematic, ambient, experimental and certain electronic genres. 10 free sounds, demos sounds on soundcloud (and links to the store should you want to get the full bank) here: www.audiobombs.com/users/ChrisG
hi can i use this as a controller for a eurorack modular, I was thinking of getting mother 32 some modular gear, and then use the minilogue as a controller for the sounds, and blend the minilogue voices too. If not can you recommend a good keyboard that plays nice with mother 32, and some tip top stuff. Maybe bass station 2? Thanks
Hello. My "Panel Load" mode turns on after pressing the Play button while holding down the Shift button. The instructions say to press Write instead of the Play button. What could it be? Defect?
You guys have great videos and demos over there at Kraft. I'd buy this this thing in an instant if it had a 61 key fullsize keybed. I may buy it anyway and just use my Novation SL61II to play it. Now I've never bought from Kraft .. if I buy from you guys do I get candy too? ;)
I've been looking around for a while, and I'm pretty sold on this 'lil guy as my first synth. It's effectively exactly what I've been looking for. I could use some noob advice if anyone has the time, though- If I wanted to start recording tracks from this synth onto a computer, and thus into a program like Mixcraft for example- would I need to get anything other than said computer and the synth itself, or could someone essentially start recording straight out of the box? Fantastic overview by the way, you guys are definitely doing some of the best synth videos on the web.
anyone know if you can link a tr8 through the port which is meant for other korg products like the volca? assuming you could trigger things with an assignable sound from the tr8 such as a rimshot - much like you can click the arp from a Juno. Any ideas welcome as this would be the deal breaker for me.
Hi Congratulations on the detailed review! At 3 minutes you said we can use the input to plug other synt in the minilogue. Can i use it with Racks like Nord 2x or Behringer Model D, and try out the features of both (the minilogue and the rack) together?
Can the Minilogue do something that the new Prologue can’t? I just bought a Minilogue and i won’t sell it even when i get the Prologue but i’m just wondering if it has something that it’s big brother doesn’t. Like the Monologue has microtuning plus other unique features..
Can the Arpeggiator be set so that it can be triggered, and run, automatically, without having to hold the keys? To give it a sort of hands free functionality, and I can go off and play on other units while the Minilogue continuously runs the pattern.
It sure can! The generic term for that kind of functionality is 'latch,' and it can be toggled on and off for minilogue's arpeggiator by pressing and holding the ARP voice mode button.
+Sam Sam The keybed is velocity sensitive. You can set different amp velocities per patch and choose from 8 different global velocity curves. There's also a switch on the front panel to let velocity affect the filter cutoff.
This dude has a wonderful voice
Indeed. Very soothing and just perfect for a relaxed introduction and tour through some gear.
Since recently buying this synth, I can't seem to switch it off. To infinity & beyond. It's highly addictive & unbelievable. A never ending play thing.

+Kraft Music 200 presets! wow, I need excel for remembering ;-)
what a surprise, in every point this synth is much more than I expected!
+Kraft Music sweet review! can the minilogue be manually tuned to something other than 440z?
VolcaRock who needs presets??
This will be FOR SURE the BEST SELLING SYNTH ever !!! Thank you Korg ! Arigato Korg !
+Robert Mueller I think you maybe right Robert. Ive been waiting on an affordable polyphonic analogue synth for years now. It sounds great too !
It was the best selling synth almost two years in a row
This was superbly explained. I want one now.

I like the little waveform screen
I rarely leave comments, but I just have to say that in addition to being really excited about this synth, this was an extremely well-done and thorough review. An excellent job from one of the best reviewers I've seen when it comes to new music gear.
this is also the best demo I've seen of this synth. i own it and this guy does the best job demonstrating it.

FINALLY, a Kylie Minogue Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer!
they are both the same height.
love at first sight
+Paul Schofield I was actually thinking about Giorgio Moroder's song with Kylie while watching this. It's actually a pretty good match.
Love Kraft Music demos! Very patient and informative!
Excellent review. So much better than many of the others posted on here!
Wicked! This is a synth I can get 100% behind!
This is the mini Moog of 2016 wow
+Uprightest
Except it's polyphonic :P
Mario Krušelj Well yeah but you know what I'm getting at hahaha
:-P
+Uprightest The Prophet 6 of 2016 but affordable. Companies flooding the market with pricey monosynths, VA polys and obscenely expensive analog polys have just been served notice by Korg.
Markus Arike I completely agree 1000%! SERVED! haha
+Markus Arike yes. Very affordable. But some people still want full sized poly synths.
Buying this ASAP.
if Don solaris is buying this.. it means we need to get one too.. its a must. 😀👍🏼
god, you just gotta love what korg is doing these days. fricking love my ms-20 mini, volca beats, and the new electribe. oh and their ipad apps are amazing, like the ipolysix. korg has still got it... roland on the other hand... lol.
Okay this is freaking revolutionary
Thank you for the excellent demonstration! Intelligent, logical, calm and clear.
Great review on this thing! Nice to see a new analog synth that's affordable and actually convinces with sound quality, not only with just "being analog" (and sounding like crap).
Hands down the best product presentation video i have EVER seen! great work, gonna hit that subscribe button right now!
Great review. Knocks it all down; no fluff or stuttering. Really well presented! Subbed, without hesitation. The single omission; I would have liked to know the approximate frequency range of the LFO... audio range to (almost) imperceptibly slow, preferred.

definitely this guy is a sound wizard
I am so glad I clicked this link. Great review.
Awesome demo video of this new outstanding synth!

TestTubeBabySpy jupiter 8 is $10k. This is $499.
I'll buy it for the oscilloscope display! :-)
+Aetila Ahah - and it works on the external in also !
the best review of this synth....
Great review. I am definitely getting this now.
Kraft, get this guy to make more of your videos
For only $500 retail...? There are plug-in's that cost more than that. Korg is totally changing the game right now. The hits just keep on comin.
Terrific review, and a superb reviewer!!
Very good review, sir! Thanks.
i got a roland jdxi after years of using korg.... i long for korg once again
21:18 first interesting sound I ear from that synth, but what a sound!
ordering it next week!
Excellent demo!
Very nice demo/tutorial! thank you
Very well done demo and review. Thanks sir. Viva la Complexity Modulation!
Excellent informative video, well done Sir !

There is a moog feelin with this synth..... THANX korg!!!!!!
What a wonderful video
that was an amazingly well done review thanx a lot!!
great host. . . great overview. thanks Kraft
The four thumbs down so far must be from Roland, Moog, Yamaha and Arturia?
Moog and Arturia are still killing it. Roland probably disliked twice. Korg is about to kill Roland and Yamaha.
Dylon Merrell
The new Arturia Matrix Brute is just about the most amazing synth I've ever seen! It's a bit like a programmable VCS3.
astrophonix Yes! I can't wait to hear more about that and the OB6.
+Braahms "Korg is about to kill Roland and Yamaha."
BWAHAHAHA!! You must not have any clue how large Yamaha is.
+Filthy McNasty i think kog is owned by yamaha
Thanks for this guide!
EXCELLENT REVIEW ! ! !!!
Thank You for this review.
Buying this soon
Great review! Any chance this will come with dedicated librarian software?
A truly awesome instrument! Great presentation and information too. Side question, what kind of microphone are you using?
+Digital Elixir Glad you enjoyed our demo. We use a Shure Beta 53 headset mic for vocal presentations. Thanks for watching!
Great review!
Lovely!
Great review! your a natural!
Great video. Exciting affordable synth. What is the table top mixer on the desk?
Hi +muco007, thanks for watching. That mixer is an old, discontinued Mackie DFX-6.
Good demo!
Is there a latch function?
good video, thank you!!
do the knobs send cc?
+Gavin Howe Yes! +scott haney111 (Reson8) The Mother has midi in and will also serve as a basic midi / c.v. converter + midi to aux c.v. - so yes /
no mod matrix :( hope one can still create complex/weird/insane sounds on this
I'm a newbie I was thinking of buying the minologue. and matrixbrute.will these go together?
Hello. My "Panel Load" mode turns on after pressing the Play button while holding down the Shift button. The instructions say to press Write instead of the Play button. What could it be? Defect?
Great sound but....3 octaves for a polyphonic synth?
Claudio Cardone $499.

I perfer learning the electronic music on the traditional music because it's easier and more fun
What cool monitors are those? They look like what Yamahas?
Yamaha Hs8
+John Gorgis Cool, thanks :)
How do u make the intro sound
Hi Congratulations on the detailed review! At 3 minutes you said we can use the input to plug other synt in the minilogue. Can i use it with Racks like Nord 2x or Behringer Model D, and try out the features of both (the minilogue and the rack) together?
Can it be synchronized with Kaossillator pro + in your opinion?
Thanx in advance.
What's the maximum release time on the envelope?
Can you jump octaves on the fly?... Never mind. I see the switch.
Motion sequence = AN1X Free EG ?
One question, can you clock externally via usb midi the LFO, delay, arpeggiator, sequencer and envelopes?
+Martin Moretto Totally / www.korg.com/us/support/download/manual/0/544/2876/
thanks!
Can the Minilogue do something that the new Prologue can’t? I just bought a Minilogue and i won’t sell it even when i get the Prologue but i’m just wondering if it has something that it’s big brother doesn’t. Like the Monologue has microtuning plus other unique features..
💥💯💥
Can the Arpeggiator be set so that it can be triggered, and run, automatically, without having to hold the keys? To give it a sort of hands free functionality, and I can go off and play on other units while the Minilogue continuously runs the pattern.
It sure can! The generic term for that kind of functionality is 'latch,' and it can be toggled on and off for minilogue's arpeggiator by pressing and holding the ARP voice mode button.
Does the Arp has latch?
is this analog? but how many osc does it have?
one day I'll have it!
oh wait...
are keys velocity sensitive? aftertouch?
+Sam Sam The keybed is velocity sensitive. You can set different amp velocities per patch and choose from 8 different global velocity curves. There's also a switch on the front panel to let velocity affect the filter cutoff.
Does it have sample and hold? Does it run on batteries?
Seekthetruth3000 No. No.
COOL!
Folks! Does anyone know whether the minilogue's ARPEGGIATOR has a "hold mode" (i.e. where it can be latched)?
Unfortunately no
No step sequencer?
I wouldn't be suprised if after 4 months they took the price up too $699.95. Wouldn't be surprised at all lol. It's worth t
