That stuff really stinks when it happens. Sounded like it was running good. looking forward to some more boat videos. I have a 99 24v Cummins I really like the truck I been collecting waste oil and towing my boat a majority of the summer for free it seems to run on anything lol
I just paid $2,200 for a used ficm on ebay. I had my truck sitting down for 3 months. Same case as yours, blew the fuse and I replaced it, then in worked for a couple of days until it didn't 😂. I'm looking for a spare one just in case.
I’m in the same situation you were in. I’m having a shop fix it but they sent out the old one to be rebuilt the first time it lasted 3 days now it’s back being rebuilt again by Napa. It’s been total of 4 months I’m still waiting.
Thats a shame , my original couldn't be rebuilt and burned board bad, i found one a guy had rebuilt but i still had to pay $1800 which is nuts but even rebuilders at the time had no cores , they will definitely get harder to find as the days go by because so many are non rebuildable
I bought my 2004.5 lly 12 months ago and I had a problem with the 4x4 not engaging so I listened to a friend and ordered a actuator motor and while waiting for the part I decided to do some research on common problems with the LLY and I found a video showing a bolt underneath the driver door on the Chassis where the ground wire for the 4x4 is located sure enough mine wasn’t getting a good connection. So I’m now trying to find out why my truck is showing driver door ajar then the dome light is coming on and off and my windows won’t work right on the driver door power windows switch!! I also have the driver side back running light out but brake lights working. Electrical scares the shit out of me so could my problem be caused bye one single problem or a bunch of little ones. Also my temperature dial for interior heat is out of wack when you turn the dial….
Sounds like different issues. You can look up videos and try to recalibrate the temp problem, door latch has the switch built into it and most likely the issue with light and saying door open, and unfortunately master window switch sounds like it's going bad. May have even gotten wet before if window left open and rained or spilled drink in it sometime in it's life. (Or it's just old) hope that helps ya out, those are not LLY related, just vehicles in general
Also the fuse block has seperate fuses under hood for the running lights and I would check that first , if not test the socket itself, sometimes the are even burnt or dirty , also a type of module for the rear lights is mounted near spare tire so unplug and check those connections
Just found about this problem !! I've owned my Duramax since it was born in '05'...but my Ficm is being finicky...My Lly is my ride or die...She's got 270k on her and is one of my most dependable rides.
Sorry to hear about her acting up, if getting a code on one particular injector check the pigtail and or harness , if popping fuse might be to late to repair. I would send it to be rebuilt regardless because the age and the capacitors WILL melt down ,so I set mine to Auto and Truck Electronics in West Palm Beach FL because this was over a year ago and she went bad again this Thanksgiving which was a little over 1yr so out of warranty and I was in Florida at the time at our 5th wheel set up there , they said whoever done it last time did a crap job and they had to undo and resoilder everything on the board and new capacitors, thankfully it's been doing great and they off extended warranty and I went with the 6 yr. Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports
That really sucks !! I haven't had a problem with capacitors or fuses..but I do think that being proactive on the rebuild is good idea..because of her age...I appreciate the information and will make sure i continue to watch Vassmotorsports for updates !
I definitely checked all the grounds I could find and the whole harness. Im not the type to waste a couple grand on a part without knowing for sure. Just seems like they at that age now the capacitors burn down (mine ruined the board when I opened it up) plus truck has 340k on it ,but has been doing good last 8 months since I got the rebuilt unit I found for $1800
Mine couldn't be rebuilt because board damage and I searched for a long time at crazy prices for used that could be ready to go out at any moment and almost got scammed out of $1000 on Facebook (did loose $100 deposit) then I found this one on marketplace but the guy gave me his # so I could call him directly and was super nice and any question I asked about he knew his truck and situation and I believed his story so he wound up shipping even before I had chance to pay him. He had reciept where he had his and another he got on market place (that turned out setting a code) and both still had the void warranty sticker in place, thankfully everything turned out great. I paid $1800 which was way higher than I wanted but my truck sat 2 months or more looking for one as rebuilders didn't even have a core. He took them to a local deisel shop and they sent them out and charged him $650 each , when I called they wouldn't tell me where they sent(so they can make money on each. Im guessing Sia where everyone else send them. But there are few places in TN and FL that do them
Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, they are good trucks except they can have headgasket issues , which as old as it is ,either doesnt have that problem or already been fixed. 2nd is the FICM, and can send it off for $250 or less and have it rebuilt and new capacitors before the old capacitors leak or melt and burn the board beyond repair , its been running great since this was taken care of , so if its a nice truck and good price dont be scared off Necessarily
i do not know. he had truck at local shop somewhere around wisconsin and they sent somewhere, when i called them they wouldn't tell me cause they mark up and make money , but it was trash and barley lasted just over 1yr and left me stranded in Florida, luckily we was at our RV so i had somewhere to stay while i had it fixed. i sent it to place in west palm and they said whoever did the prior work did shit job and they had to resoilder everything and replace few things. but they did it quick and kept me in the loop whole time and i highly recommend them. maps.app.goo.gl/4pJPEVSLoGVzp1J86. couple months after i had a #1 injector code and was back in Florida when it did it picking up a boat i bought , so i delivered it to them as was on the way tp get boat with friends truck and got to see the place in person. they couldn't find anything wrong but still replaced a few things just incase they were breaking down in real world conditions of under the hood temps , and quickly as knowing i was back in Florida and need to go home. turned out just being my pigtail on injector, but we didn't know that at the time and i feel they went out of their way to make sure i was taken care of. thank God its been good since. thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos
@white24valve this one I bought was a rebuilt but I don't know who did it as a diesel shop sent off and had done to make some money on it , it lasted just over 1yr just out of warranty this Thanksgiving 23 and left me stranded in FL where my 5th wheel is setup (thank God) so I sent to Auto and Truck Electronics in West Palm Beach and they said whoever did it did crap work so they redid the whole thing and I got the extended 6yr warranty, so far I'm very happy with the 2 day turn around they did for me since I was stuck there trying to make it home for Thanksgiving, it gave me codes for all 8 injectors, and they fixed it
Lol. Well mine was $1800 and only lasted a year then I just had to have rebuilt again past Thanksgiving, $550 bucks , recently I had turbo issues and im still not sure if I have her fixed right or not (made a video of that too haha) I'm not a man with alot of money and live my life for peanuts, I'm just good at finding deals and good with my hands , I only paid $5000 for the truck 2 years or so ago cause it needed head gaskets and I talked him down , then I spent $600 on parts and head work and head studs , and did all labor myself, that's the only way I can afford to own it ,but maintenance is a bitch on these trucks and she's adding up ,but im still in it good right now , but what about when it needs injectors ,(getting couple noisy ones) or turbo goes out or God help me the trans goes bad, I love it when she's running right but scarring me lately and I don't own something I can't depend on when I'm making my out of state trips. Not to mention the price of fuel vs gas , thanks for watching Vassmotorsports

I work on these at the dealership and The Problems I find 9 out of 10 is Bad Grounds that will burn up The FICA check those Ground Wires

Great video - Curious to know where did you send yours in for repair, and where was the rebuilt one you purchased repaired? Thanks

You wouldn't happen to know that rebuild company that guy used would you. I'm also worried about scams and/or people no knowing what they are doing.

I hear good and bad about them
@Vassmotorsports I have as well. I don't know that I have see folks talk about Go ECM. They rebuild them as well.

6 yr warranty...wow!
@Vassmotorsports I have looked them up,sounds like that is who I will choose to redo mine. Thank you sir!
