I took my Come Taste the Band album to a David Coverdale record signing at a Dallas record store in the 80s.. This was when he was touring for Whitesnake. He saw me holding up the unique album and yelled "Bring that album up here" so I pushed to the front of the crowd and he said he was happy to see this being appreciated. Hes definatly respected in the musician world unfortunatly hes a rythm guitarist ritchie blackmore is one of the best guitarists to be born hard to beat
He had neither the dexterity, inventiveness, passion, feel or talent as Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Morse or Simon McBride. He’s just a footnote in this band history like Rod Evans, Nick Simper or Joe Lynn Turner, nothing more, but unlike the others, not one to be proud of either.
I loved Tommy Bolin well rounded guitarist. Love his. Funky jazzy style. This is my absolute favorite purple album. It's a shame they only made one album together. This was a great lineup. Glenn and David. Double vocals. Incredible
Even though this album gets a lot of critics, its one of my favorites. Bolin was an incredible guitarist and fits right in to the shoes which Ritchie Blackmore left. Yes he had a much more bluesy guitar playing, but if he haven't passed away, DP would go on releasing amazing albums like this. I preffer this tunes much more than 80s DP with Blackmore's lazy playing.

I’ve been a DP fan since the 70’s. I was always cold to this version of the band. But, this is a very impressive concert! I have to re-evaluate my thoughts about the Mark lV era. Still can’t stand the disco breaks tho.
What an outstanding job you've done with new mixing through the material which is giving to us. In the end with editing the pictures to it. How many hours has it taken?
It is. You can hear it from the very first song where Bolin is basically playing with 2 fingers. All the more intricate guitar work is missing and Jon Lord is doing his level best to cover it up.
An insulting and shitty version of one of the greatest riffs and solos in history ... Bolin was under bad heroin stuff which completely paralized his left arm and hand ... in fact practically there's no guitar riff and solo and all parts are covered by great/poor Jon Lord ...
Bolin can't play a single note of Blackmore's guitar solos. He ruined Burn, so after that, I started to watch another YT video. DP was comatose at that time, thanks God they resurrected in 1984 and again in 1992, when Morse joined the band.
Come taste the band
