Absolute great. Bass lines and drums holding it...Strat and Marshall...talk me about tone...That is THE TONE....you can even hear the hum and static between notes....DC so bluesy...and JL a gentleman as usual...what a band...thanks Lord for DP.
Classic of classics. In 1978 this was the record I listened to the most. Ritchie Blackmore master of the strings and a true holy monster. Ian Paice is a locomotive without brakes. John Lord the maestro and wizard on keyboards. Glenn Hughes a rock in the voice and bass. David Coverdale the great voice that echoes into space.
Patriot I started jamming to these guys when I was in the 10th grade. They had a song out called, " Hush" and I got into Deep Purple so bad my parents thought I'd gone nuts or something. The good old days of real rock and roll!
This act was one of the high points of the direction heavy rock took in the '70's, musically at least. About as far as you can go without becoming progressive rock or something. Blackmore is basically a genius, along with a group of phenomenal talents, and a shrewd businessman. I love this music. 70's hard rock is my favorite kind of music, probably. I'm a guitar guy/musician who plays many styles.
Best version of all these songs, I bought this on 8 track, cassette, album and CD. Lost em all in a fire. Along with hundreds of others. Thanks for sharing.

When I was a teenager, I compared it to the "made in Japan" album and said it was not up to its standards. I was a stupid snob. Everyone who ever played in Deep Purple is a genius. Of course, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan and Jan Paice, as original members living today, deserve all the respect. But I see a heavenly scene where both Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore are holding hands in love. This line-up featuring David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes is as wonderful as all the others.
I knew this album when I was in college in 1978 or 79, I have always dreamed of seeing the live, and it is only today in September 2020 that I discover it, with immense joy. BRAVO DEEP PURPLE 👏👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍

Ritchie smashed his guitar to pieces and got it tangled in the rafters and untangled it and then playing on it with platforms on the ground, incredible sound, and the Texas Jam in 1985, plus 10 more times, last time in 1988 Monsters of Rock Meadowlands, plus 10 shows sprinkled here and there, wow. when this record was launched it was a big blast, every teen went mad. no one expected such a masterpiece after made in japan but they did it.
