usucdik The press are not there to gatekeep. They are there to relay information speedily and effectively, giving people access to events occurring and important occurrences either locally or not. They are not there to keep information from people. Anyone can become the “press” which is immensely helpful these days as we can see information for ourselves instead of constantly relying on the “press”. They are not superior people capable of handling information that they can choose who gets access to it. That is dangerous and the opposite of what they should do.

Could anyone perhaps explain what happened at the very beginning? What is the reason of Crowder going after Maza for the first time? Did Maza do something controversial before Crowder and Maza started fighting eachother? While this video clears some things up in a non-bias way (which I really appreciate), I still feel like there is some context missing. Or am I wrong?

Keep in mind that Carlos recently said in a Vox video that "journalists should be the gatekeepers of information." He is making the argument that what information you get should first be chosen by people like him. And he wants someone who gives you information he doesn't like to be silenced. That is some high level arrogance. No matter if you're liberal or conservative, you should always fear the person who thinks they are qualified to screen information for you in the name of "fighting fake news."

You covered the Crowder/vox story really fairly, the only thing I'd add is in one part of the Twitter thread Carlos called for his followers to mass flag Crowder in retaliation. That was the specific censorship to which he was referring.

This is important, at no point does crowder directly initiate a call-to-action for his followers to do anything malicious. As where Carlos does directly call for violence on multiple occasions. I’m starting to see a pattern.

I think Sudev has a point here: Crowder's genre is what keeps him off the trending page. Most of the Vox videos I've seen on trending are more of the "today I learned" style videos, and the trending page LOVES those.

Job Wesley Cox Jr I’ve watched his videos and although I disagree with him on plenty, I think he articulates his points pretty well. I like his new “Change my Mind” segments because he has college kids have respectful discussions with each other, even while disagreeing. I think that’s valuable.

I'm disappointed Phil didn't address Maza's last comment that Crowder is RUclips's "ideal creator". Virtually every Crowder video is demonetized and Crowder just publicly addressed the fights over the wrongful strikes on his channel.
I think that depends. Does demonetized mean RUclips is making no revenue, or the revenue is being sent somewhere else instead of Crowder like the copystrike system. Even if he genuinely brings no money in for RUclips or himself, he does still generate views and engagement time with his videos, and I'd predict a lot of it. So he can still be an ideal creator, just not the ideal we initial assume him to be in terms of revenue generation.

Crowder's channel is entirely demonetized. Meaning no ads appear on it. This was done by youtube because RUclips's algorithm or whatever thinks his channel is NOT IDEAL. He makes no ad revenue from youtube that's why he has the Mug Club to pay for his bills and earn money other than the in video ads that he does himself

I agree, I don't totally like Steven Crowder, but I do believe he is a guy who makes himself untouchable by doing the right things. And if you are going to call yourself these words in a public forum you must also be able to be criticized by those words in a public forum. Oh and don't throw stones when you live in a glass house. And I used to watch and support a lot of what Vox was doing. And I think if Crowder ever got to sit on a campus near me I would love to have a chat with him on some of the things and definitely disagree on some of them.

What's funny and ironic is Vox was found by a DNC campaigner and Maza was hired from a now far left activist company. And the key focus was censorship not necessarily the video itself.
Elee90 the video from all over the states is a compilation of syndicated news stations owned by a national conglomerate. The content of the announcement was innocent and fair. It would have been no different from a large national news station broadcasting the same words but from a single cable channel as opposed to local antenna stations.
Also the fun fact that the vox video Crowder was ragging on, claiming fox influenced the news to cover the Hillary servers and bengazi stories were not broken by fox, but by other news outlets. Vox's entire video was based on a false premises.

Private companies cannot revoke the right to free speech. That does not mean there is such a thing as protected speech. If youtube should punish anyone for misconduct, it should be Maza, as he's encouraging people to harass Crowder and company.

One thing I have a legit problem with, when Maza called out Crowder for all the disparaging remarks about his sexuality, ethnicity, and speak impediment, Crowder said it was playful ribbing. While my family and I rib each other all the time, we have very specific lines we will not cross and have a genuine love for each other underneath. Crowder just comes off as mean spirited and bigoted in his remarks. Maza and Crowder are not friends, so I would hardly categorize it the same way my sister and I call each other hookers and bitches. (Again, underlying understanding that we are joking and love each other)

Keep in mind that Carlos recently said in a Vox video that "journalists should be the gatekeepers of information." He is making the argument that what information you get should first be chosen by people like him. And he wants someone who gives you information he doesn't like to be silenced. That is some high level arrogance. No matter if you're liberal or conservative, you should always fear the person who thinks they are qualified to screen information for you in the name of "fighting fake news."

I'm disappointed Phil didn't address Maza's last comment that Crowder is RUclips's "ideal creator". Virtually every Crowder video is demonetized and Crowder just publicly addressed the fights over the wrongful strikes on his channel.
I think that depends. Does demonetized mean RUclips is making no revenue, or the revenue is being sent somewhere else instead of Crowder like the copystrike system. Even if he genuinely brings no money in for RUclips or himself, he does still generate views and engagement time with his videos, and I'd predict a lot of it. So he can still be an ideal creator, just not the ideal we initial assume him to be in terms of revenue generation.

What's funny and ironic is Vox was found by a DNC campaigner and Maza was hired from a now far left activist company. And the key focus was censorship not necessarily the video itself.
Elee90 the video from all over the states is a compilation of syndicated news stations owned by a national conglomerate. The content of the announcement was innocent and fair. It would have been no different from a large national news station broadcasting the same words but from a single cable channel as opposed to local antenna stations.
Also the fun fact that the vox video Crowder was ragging on, claiming fox influenced the news to cover the Hillary servers and bengazi stories were not broken by fox, but by other news outlets. Vox's entire video was based on a false premises.

Hector Perez lol I was about to type the exact same thing. I’m constantly blown away by the complete ignorance of the left. There is definitely ignorance on both sides, don’t get me wrong. But I always see folks from the left calling things like Crowder, Fox News, etc partisan bullshit.
Yeah, it definitely is and I’d say most conservatives freely admit that. But for some reason the vast majority of the left seem to not realize the shows they gravitate to are equally partisan, just on the other side.
My biggest problem with Maza is how he presents his content as if it’s above reproach. Then whenever he’s called out for making a shit video he falls back on being gay and claims everyone persecutes him for his sexuality.
Maza is a crybaby punk, and Crowder is a comedian. Crowder has a long history of civil discourse, and reasonable conversation

To be fair, it's not RUclips's job to monitor other sites, one side of this was obviously harassing the other and why I'm not saying he is by ANY means innocent. RUclips isn't responsible for other sites and should address what happens on their own platform

I expected you to cover the Crowder/Maza situation with bias against Crowder, but was pleasantly surprised to see you cover both sides of the story.
even i was surprised , philip started out with painting a bleak image of crowder with the extracts of him throwing insults and giving a wide coverage to maza's victim twitter posts , but i was shocked when philip actually gave crowder's defence a chance to be heard . As content i am with philip on this one , from my experience i feel like he was forced to add Crowder's defense , not doing so would have hit him hard with his subs and reputation as " alternative news provider"
