I’d say Lisa
It's not Signora, she was a maid in mondstadt she is not a witch. Signoras last line before she dies is never call me a witch. It kinda points to that she hated the hexenzirkel and possibly even their involvement in Mondstadt going into war which made her lose Rostam. For plot purposes Dilucs mother something happened with her and since the Favonius guard is somewhat connected to the hexenzirkel it would explain why he hates them so much a deeper reason. See I think the Favonius knights is a remnant from the slavery time in Mondstadt that Hoyo hasn''t started to go into but is hinted at in Eulas story quest. So this would be the time Mondstadt was ruled by a demon king mentioned by Venti.
A second note that just became more intriguing after this revelation. Caterpillar tells a story to Lanoire about a witch that tricks a little girl to give her a flower from a garden guarded by a giant. It would not surprise me at all if that story had relevance. Flowers hold a significant importance in Theyvat. It is even possible that he is talking about the end game with Dainsleif standing in a garden of flowers.

old witch is definitely Andersdotter, it says in the final volume that her stories(worlds) are the undying fire, that she had short lifespan compared to long lived witches e.t.c, basically if u reread it you'll realize that old witch is Andersdotter, it fits her to a T.
we also have fortune slips and some of them show letters from other Hexenzirkel members about Andersdotter, saying farewell to her and stuff(after she has already passed away)
this whole thing is basically a tribute to her.
also you need to read descriptions of those volumes, they give info that makes u realize that each volume is written by a different member.
vol 1 - multiple authors or maybe someone specific but we don't know
vol 2 - Barbeloth(cuz of the stars and cosmology infodump)
vol 3 - Rhinedottir(she is referenced to have written a volume and plus this one is more about weird alchemical shenanigans)
vol 4 - Ivanova(implied cuz she has seemingly no knowledge of magic and is also from snezhnaya seemingly cuz of her name and she says "Tsaritsa be good" as if that's her god)
vol 5 - Nicole(we learn from one of the fortune slips that she can't write normally and this one has a description that says it has been written badly)
vol 6 - Octavia(seems to have traveled worlds and just came back to say something akin to "let me continue from now then")
vol 7 - multiple authors
i don't think that little witch is Alice because Alice is way older than Andersdotter who has normal human lifespan and Andersdotter is referred to be as "old witch" so Alice being "little witch" makes no sense in this context
my theory about little witch is that it's Lisa, because undying fire is an analogy for Andersdotter's stories("worlds") and Lisa has connection to her. also has a library and wants to spread her stories.
this boom could be about a lot of people so annoying lol, Could be Andersdotters story of Alice when she was young tho becoming the powerhouse she is today, what demon kings would lisa of slayed?

@@MichaelScarn-cq3lx but Andersdotter herself is in the story as the old witch so Alice being little witch during that time doesn't add up timeline wise. Alice is way older than Andersdotter. even if it's not Lisa, there's no way that it's Alice.

Id argue that lisa wasnt necessarily smart enough to know not to mess with forbidden knowledge, but rather than she TRIED and upon doing so, suffered consequences. Its not 100% cannon anymore, but originally she had her lifespan halved by coning into contact with a magical artifact. She didnt know not to mess with the unknown, she rather learned the hard way after the fact and decided to stop her pursuit of knowledge as a result. I do still like this theory, just wanted to mention that

Tbh I wonder if the reason they challenged venti the supposed “weakest” archon was because the witches thought venti would be just like the shades the reason they didn’t fight him was because they saw how different he was compared to the shades and archons and he told them “secrets” abt how one shade that being isteroth is working against the heavenly principles, that’s probably why the witches are mainly located in mondstadt because compared to the rest of teyvat it’s kind of a safe Haven were they can hid in plain sight from the heavenly principles thanks to venti and venti likely knows of the fake sky as well as zhongli perhaps and maybe even ei and we know nahida only recently found out and folcalors very likely due to how smart she is knew as well likely from egeria and there’s no doupt the tsaritsa knows that leaves only the pyro archon who likely knows as well but we can’t say for sure anyways I wonder if when the book talks abt demon kings if it referring to just corrupted people of power i mean most monsters in fairly tales art arrived of real life people who are just generally bad so when it’s talking about demon Kings, it could just be talking about regular corrupted with power idk it’s a possibility also i wonder if we’ll finally see a playable witch in natlan since there getting a lot of attention also I wonder if Emilie is also a successor of a witch like Mona Klee and Lisa I mean she even looks the part
I'd like to believe Lisa is such a big figure (at leas I hope HoYo won't forget about "Pale Princess" quest and those... strange thing said about her by an Abyss Mage) but... the book is written in a way it looks like... well, it looks like chapters were written by different people in different periods of time icluding one chapter being written in some faithful or disasterous moment (Vol. 6, its blurb is "Is it still necessary to write this, the present moment being what it is?"), but those moments are most likely a thing of a distant past right? So I don't think this book is about Lisa, she's... she seems to be a short-live specimen. And her and Cyno's teacher in Cyno's quest says about her "that girl", which kinda assumes she was much younger not long ago. So I don't think she was already born when this book was written and so she can't be Andersdotter's successor right? Though I guess she, as a witch, has some sort of connection with Hexenzirkel, but to what extent...
And tbh, it's all such a dumb move. We literally SUDDENLY have an access to Lisa library's restricted section that appears to be something closely related to Hexenzirkel and... we can't go to her and ask what the hell is that? Her dialogues inside Theater are nothing special too and we still can't ask further? Really? And Traveler is JUUUST FINE with that huh. NOTHING suspicious at all.
So yeah, I'd like to think Lisa has some huge secrets but the way HoYo's hiding it is really stupid at this point. I want to believe in 5* Lisa someday though.

I mean, the Hexenzirkal's patron is Barbatos, who is also the patron of the Knights of Favonius, so they are probably officially authorized to use that space, especially since Alice is a Knight of Favonius Captain, as is Rhinesottir's son.

they hid it well tbh because it was after the abyss mage leaked that pale princess was important so it becomes "how did you know about this books importance?? who are you?" lisa:"I'm a librarian and that's my book" and the entire lisa story quest before was us hunting books so it's not weird
@@Evitzeoshowerthoughts It's possible if you play back the quest you can see that Lisa is stressed in a way she never is otherwise. Her whole routine is basically a persona to stay hidden in Mondstadt as a "forgetful librarian" I also doubt Jean has any idea what she is doing and it could create a rift between them, because she is researching the sinners, and that could spell doom for Mondstadt.

I just remembered something when you mentioned the relationship with Honkai. In the current HI3rd 2.0 story it takes place in a parallel universe of old civilization of Mars, located in a World Bubble in the Sea of Quanta. It says that all the worlds and universes in the Sea of Quanta are destined to disappear if they don't have a strong direct connection with the Imaginary Tree and the reason why Mars doesn't disappear is because of a kind of "anchor" that exists throughout the ages and prevents its disappearance. the larger the bubble universe, the slower the bubble's death.
It could be that the Undying Fire is the Anchor that keeps Teyvat's universe alive and the little witch's test is to find it so that it doesn't disappear. The fact that she was found the fire next to the oldest and most powerful witch, could mean that now it is the little one's turn.
I've always thought Lisa's an "S" but her being an "M" might not be bad either. :-}
Another reason the hexenzirkel so powerful could be that they’re all pathstriders Alice would be destruction and Barbeloth would be finality also I have no idea what paths the others would follow

But the Abyss order, established thanks to the Visionary who is another pygmie is after the book because it contains the secret of the pygmies betraying the prince and the princess...how does it make sense?
Also, if a fairy tale is the only source and witness of this crime, then was it just simply forgotten by time, not witnessed by anyone other than the pygmies, or someone erased it from Irminsul?

idk what you meant at the end but there's 2 paths to take here in story. 1. the sinners are Not a joined group but just people that got lumped together, rhinedottir was never evil to begin with which is likely because most of her creatures are benign, but just chased power...for some reason and got lumped with sinners, after they got power they separated, and then alice gave her a slap in the face and said "make love not war" and gold spilled the tea to anderrstottir (rip spelling)
2. sinners are unified group, gold is actually evil, but the rule of the hexenzirkel is simple, just don't fight each other and meet up once in a while for tea. And gold being friends with them can just make a pinkie promise and a review of anderstorre books, then gold goes back to the sinner group for planning.
actually there's a bonus one, visionary never established the abyss order himself, he just made clothar a fanatic cult leader and made the abyss order, in fact the abyss order is mostly following their own wishes of reviving khaeriah, the visionary didn't bother saving khaerianh as dain said. The abyss order are trying to find their god, the visionary, and the pygmy book.
About the pygmies Alice doesn't say that Rhinedottir is never to be spoken about again. There is something odd going on, Alice can't lie so she can't pretend that Rhinedottir is good. So far we have been lead to believe that Gold Rhinedottir is evil but this does not match why she was invited to the hexenzirkel in the first place, and no these witches were not fooled about her real persona, if anything Rhinedottir is fooling the heavenly principles.

It'd really suck if Rhinedottir would be somehow justified this way. She's having a tea party while having betrayed and damned a whole nation to a fate worse than death! And also, she fed Albedo's brother to Durin.
As for the pale princess and the six pygmies, now that we got the 6 sinners revealed, it just makes total sense why vedelfonir would like that book.
There could be 2 reasons he would want it:
1. Assuming his memories got wiped (very highly unlikely) - to use it to restore irminsul-wiped memories (just like nahida did with her backup to Scara). But this is very unlikely as even assuming this is true, you'd need to be aware you've had your memories altered. And even so - to what end would he care to restore them?
2. To destroy the witness of their crime.
She's using dark magic to snatch our hearts.
