The Flex is entirely different. Different flying mission overall (3D + everything else rather than just scale sport flying) not as many scale details, floatier, etc.
I love watching your videos talking about the safe. I fly with safe on my new carbon cub but only because I haven’t flown in a long time but I am working to turn it off
Great plane! I've had the red version of this for a year now. Really like the blue better, but that one was released shortly after I had already purchased the red one. Mine came with a defective potenza motor. There was not an option to get the dualsky motor at the time of purchase. Flex agreed to replace it, but I had to pay to send it back to them, which I thought was lame. About a month before I got it back. By that time, I had already replace the motor with a Power 60, and threw in a 100amp Avian ESC. Flies great now. Added the carbon gear from Flex and some low bounce tires from Dubro. Really like the plane. Just bummed about the motor debacle. I personally think those potenza motors are junk. There are so many better options out there. Dualsky, T-Motor, and Scorpion are leaps and bounds above and beyond better systems for aerobatic planes.
-- You should be wearing "Vans" to be a true scale pilot when flying this "Recreational Vehicle"! Good job flying, though(excuse my Massachusetts accent)!
Nice adver . . . I mean review (ha). That's a big investment (cost & size - ha) but I might just have to start with a 10E instead. (disclaimer: my flying skills are still only "intermediate" and after joining this hobby in 1978, I have never flown anything that expensive). Thanks for another great video!
Love the video - well done, as usual Suggestion . . . at 1:58 --> should it be stated instead: " . . . and that was the plane I used to learn how to fly rolling harriers . . . " because the airplane didn't really teach you but it made it easier to learn than most others?
Literally just bought one through y’all can’t wait to maiden it (Update) Maiden went amazing definitely recommend. Keep in mind though it’s huge. I have to take it the landing gear and top hatch off to fit in my car🤦♂️😂.
You can also run a Spektrum Ar637T to connect to Aura on this plane. You can use the Satellite plug-in or channel 1 plug on Port A or B option, which gives you two options to connect to the Aura Gyro
My favorite RC plane is the Flex Innovations Ventique G2 60e. I can't go anywhere without it. Makes me look good, too. The Aura 8 smooths out my sloppiness. My rolling circles look like circles and not a fruity rainbow, lol. The RV8 is sick, love mine. Fantastic video, guys.
I have the rv8 10e and have never had one incident. I'm on my 4th motor. Is this more reliable than the 10e? Potenza motors have Elmer's glue holding magnets on.
@@TailHeavyProductionscouldn’t wait 😂 bit the bullet & bought the dulsky version…I would think for the price there would be some quality control at the factory. Mine came missing paint, a gash in the “cowl”, the “balanced” prop took 45 minutes to balance it was so out of wack(like an old APC)and the wheel pants had black all over them and the fit is horrible. Also hardware that need a Philips screwdriver? What year are we in. I’m truly shocked QQ isn’t embarrassed shipping a foam plane with wood frame and no carbon fiber, and no phenolic tube, costing this much with so many issues. 🤦🏻♂️
I love that landing gear grab out of a hover move and also that hovering landing gear shoulder touch too Zack. Awesome job on the video Zack btw which RV-8 do you enjoy more this one or the 10E G2??
@@TailHeavyProductions Sadly I don't have the space or the means to transpot it to the area I fly it so most likely I could myself getting my hands on the 10E size Zack.
@@TailHeavyProductionsBTW By all means let's see you do a Bush Wheels carbon landing gear conversation to this plane just like you did with its little brother Zack.
I've been looking at the plane for awhile, but my experience with the Aura on it's little brother, the RV8-10E, has been less than stellar. My radio system is Radiomaster/EdgeTx with an ELRS recevier and while configuring the Aura to fly with it is simple, learning how to set up the Aura in the same manner I'm already familiar with in EdgeTx has been a bit of a challenge. Using Aura one sets up EdgeTx like one would with a quadcopter i.e. basic 4 channels, then set expos, rates, trims, etc. in Aura. Even though Aura works with many systems, the documentation I have been able to find is for Spectrum systems. Based on what I already know how to do, I really wish this model was offered without the Aura. I'd use the much less expensive A3 Super 4 if I wanted stablization. In any event, Great Review. I value your opinions and find I put a lot of money where YOUR mouth is! Haha!
Any dedicated 3D mid wing is going to massively out-perform this when it comes to 3D specifically, aka it’ll excel with full on aggressive fast pace flying. If you’re looking for a slow motion entry to 3D but also have the ability to fly it in other ways as well, the RV-8 60 is a great bet.
You can drop a wing in a harrier with it. Night flying is incredible with it It's got QC issues like the rest of flex planes. It flies like a dream. Best knife edge plane I've ever seen. Have to see it for yourself. I use ELRS rx with sbus out. Gyro gain cut on a switch so low/med/high rates & gains on same switch You didn't discuss crow or flaps. Inverted harrier with flaps is super fun.
For sure which we mentioned during the section on high alpha ops, but for straight ahead stalls power on/off/etc it doesn’t. Glad you’re enjoying yours!
I fly mine nearly every day, and I love it. Aside from the crap gear, it's fantastic. Just a side note, you can easily modify the main from a dynam 182 to fit.
One $700 plane that you really love will cost less and bring more joy than a dusty pile of cheap ones full of annoying flaws that make you order a steady stream of new and hopefully better ones.
@@TailHeavyProductions I stopped watching before the 5 minute mark because now you come across like all the other sponsored pilots who say every plane is the best plane.

How similar is this to the eflite rv-7 despite size.

Man, does that thing look like a beast. Absolutely love a gentle giant like this one.
That thing is HUUUGGGEEEE with even LARGER PERFORMANCE
Nice video guys❤ this plane is amazing
I have Flex RV-8 taste on a Flite Test budget.
😭
Had to wait to have one in France, but it's worth the wait, this is one of my favorite!
Haven't flown this one (yet), but I have a mamba 60e from flex and it's such a beautiful flying plane.
The mamba and rv8 is the best I want a rv8 but I have the mamba

Great review, guys! Definitely on my RC aircraft Mt Rushmore. Thanks!!
My goodness! This plane flies so fantastic and looks great even from quite close. Seems to be a great deal!!
I'm just getting into the hobby by making a scratch build. The parts will arrive soon. Wish me luck.
Great flying airplane!
I always look forward to Saturdays! Great video. One question, would the RV-8 60E be able to take off from a beach?
Thanks! It definitely would. 👍
Sure looks and flies great. But 600+ bucks for a foamie bothers me a bit
half the price mayb lol 600 you can get better deals
In this video, is the plane stock?
Yes - and if any mods are ever made, we always disclose them.

The plane may be light, but that price sure isn't! Yikes. 😢
By FAR my favorite foamy I’ve flown.
What battery would you recommend using? (I would like to push the limits with this plane) also where should I put the battery?
2:34 + 3:52
@ Thanks so much for the quick replies this is why y’all are the best
Why not a longer fuselage for prop hangs and torque rolls?
Will this do a flat spin; upright, inverted, or both???? Thx...
Does the one you’re flying have the Potenza or Dualsky motor?
Potenza - but per the end of the video, we’re gonna try out the Dualsky next in a future video

What are the differences with the G2 versus the older original 60E or are the same aircraft?
😂👍👍👍👍👍
Yay they posted on my b-day
No mention of potenza motors throwing magnets after 2 flights definitely get dualsky motor
its probably really rare they aren't the type to let a problem like that slide if its common
This might be a dumb question, but why exactly is this better than a mid wing 3d capable plane like the extra 300 (or something similar)?

Its a great plane, Flex QA issues withstanding
Mamba 60e and the cap 232 60 e and laser 60 e are all foam plames in that class that are good flyers but potemza electronics are crap

compared to the mamba 60 ?
Different missions. Depends on what you’re looking for 👍
