Surely you don't need the Bluetooth thingamajig? Does it not work the same pluging MIDI cables into the Beatbuddy MIDI splitter and pluging the other ends into your audio adapter? (Assuming your audio adapter has MIDI ports as mine does)
QUESTION: Can you import the drum sounds from the Beatbuddy Manager to the DAW? For example, the Standard Kit in Beatbuddy. I'm using Studio One 5. Have you tried to do that? Wouldn't that solve the problem by using the same exact drum kit that you are going to use in the Beatbuddy?
Hi Robert, you're right, it would solve the problem but you would have to manually import each Beat Buddy drum kick sample into a sampler in the DAW and configure the velocity scales in that sampler, which is a very laborious task. It would be nice if singular sound created a DAW plugin or sampler pack that played their drum kits in a DAW. Thanks for reaching out.
Posting this in case someone runs into the same issue I did: I tried using the MD-BT01 on a Macbook Pro 2019 (Intel) running MacOS Monterey and Logic Pro 10.7.3. The MD-BT01 connected fine, but when I tried using Musical Typing or the Piano Roll in Logic, the Beat Buddy would freak out and play the note like a machine gun until I quit the application. After much trial & error, I found that deselecting "Record Enable" on the MIDI track would make it work as expected. Not sure why, or what that changes, but it fixes the problem.
Hello, When i create a midi beat in Logic Pro which file format that i have to export it to use in beatbuddy? And how can i import it to beatbuddy manager?? Do i need any special midi cable or can i transfer it from the computer to beatbuddy directly by usb?? Thank you 🙏🙏
Hi Melih, you have to export it as a midi region. On a Mac: bring the region to position 1 1 1 1; option + command + E, (or got to file or go to File/Export/Selection as Midi File); save it in a folder; open a project in Beat Buddy Manager; bring the midi file into a song; File/Export/ Project to SD Card; insert SD card into your Beat Buddy. You can connect the pedal by USB cable, but that's the same as putting an SD card into your computer with an SD card reader. Either way, you have to save your project on an SD card first. Some of my other videos walk through those steps. Hope that helps. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.
Hi Alessandro, I'm afraid I don't know of any apps, neither desktop nor iPad based, that directly resolve this issue. I don't use an iPad myself, but I know a lot of Beat Buddy users use Onsong to connect to their pedals, but I don't know if that would help in any way. It all depends on what software you are using to arrange your midi drum arrangements. If you use Garageband on your iPad to create beats, you would still need the method from the video to hear the output mapped according to Beat Buddy's drum kits.
@@MunicipalManMusicMedia But can Garage band on iPad send midi note to BeatBuddy to hear the real sounds of drums? I have got the Yamaha Bluetooth connectors and they work fine with BeatBuddy.....
@@alessandromarziali3459 I don't think so. Using Logic you can create an external midi track to audit the output when connected by Bluetooth, but the desktop Garageband version doesn't have the option to create an external midi track, so I don't imagine that the iPad version would have that feature. I don't have an iPad nor do I use Garageband that much, so there may be a way to do it that I don't know about. There is an app called Logic Remote which is a companion app to Logic and Garageband. It's free, so you could see if that will create an external midi track to work from on your iPad.

For sure. If you can avoid paying the over-priced cost of this adaptor, I would recommend it. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for adding to the discussion. That's good information. 😀

Hi,
Can you suggest me an app on iPad to manage the Midi-mapping Problem? I tried BeatMaker 3 on iPad but without success.
Thanks in advance.

Garageband doesn’t sends midi output (there are workarounds but not realtime) but any proper DAW like Cubasis or Senbeats can do the trick probably.
si puo programmare il midi beatbuddy con il midi boss rc 500
