    I got one for my band, while we were searching for a drummer. Also, if the drummer is sick on rehearsal day the band can still rehearse. I also, use it for demos to get the idea across what I would like to hear the drummer play. When you use it, you can tell it when to do the fills. Plus, it is a click track, which can be replaced later. I haven't used the editor yet. But, it works great. I just made a little video of a jam with my brother using the Beat Buddy. I really enjoy Pete's videos. Always inspiring!

    Have had one of these for a little over a year now... Zero buyers remorse. Just an outstanding, durable, great sounding product. The editor software takes about 15 minutes to figure out. I went from opening the box to having a five song set "programmed" in about two hours (putting programmed in quotes, because you don't have to program this thing like a traditional rhythm machine, you play it with your foot). If you want to experiment with the editor before buying I think Singular Sound still offers the editor download for free. You can also download a full "SD Card" backup which gives you all the drum kits and sounds, decompress the sd backup to a new sd card, download the editor and you can get an idea of how it works before buying... Once I played with the editor I was sold.

    I use this with an acoustic trio, the brushes drumkit is so perfect for that genre, having said that I've just purchased a new drumkit for the BB from their site called Jazz brushes, its the perfect kit for an acoustic gig even when you do a gig alone the good old BB, fills the gaps and creates dynamics in the song, love it.

    I love the Beat Buddy, my band nick named the Beat Buddy "Beatus". We use it for when the drummer is ill, can't make it to practice. I like it for demos. I used it recently on vacation. I used a EHX English Muffin into a POD XT ran the POD XT into the Digitech Stereo Jamman to record some rhythm tracks. I wasn't able to bring my interface. The EHX English muffin really sounds great into the POD XT. The stereo inputs and outputs allowed me to mix my POD XT and Beat Buddy into the Digitech Stereo Jamman.

    Hi Pete, love the demos, never less than compelling, thanks man.
    I considered one of these to pair with my Infinity looper, ended up getting a Korg Electribe Sampler. For me this is a more fun, more interactive way of getting beats and basslines together for song writing and practicing, without using a DAW. Mind you I like EDM synthwave stuff, your mileage may vary. Takes up SO much pedalboard real estate, but with application, and twinkle toes, you can bring backing track layers in and out to make a performance. The modern equivalent of strapping cymbals on your knees! (Real drummers FTW tho')

    I participated in crowd funding this gizmo. Frankly, I was wondering if it wasn't a gimmick because the sales pitch from the founder/inventor was so over the top good I thought.... 'Yeah Right'.. if it seems too good to be true, you know the rest. Well... when i finally got mine I was totally blown away and still love it to this day. Don't bother with the mini... I bought one of those years later when I was trying to shrink my pedalboard but it's not as good/intuitive as the original. It sounds as good, without the other controls it's not as easy to make changes on the fly. It's worth the boardspace to get the bigger (original) version. BUY IT, you won't regret it. The ONLY thing to be aware of is that if you run your guitar through this and into a guitar amp you better be sure the amp can handle the dynamics of a drum set's audio (the kick drum in particular) or you could be smelling smoke.

  • @JRP3music
    @JRP3music 6 лет назад +3

    The Beat Buddy for me is a lot cooler than having to use plug ins. It is a stable platform and the stereo in out connections make it easy to use a amp sim and practice quietly anywhere.

      I believe there's no midi note limit. The users at Beat buddy forum have uploaded complete songs (drum parts) in 1 section/part. Some even have added bass lines to the kits. It's more work but if you have the time, it sounds really good.

    Are the included samples named as/or nested in such a way to facilitate making your own "kit" by grabbing various samples from the different included kits or all the files cryptically named and nested on the SD card?

    • @FollowMeNot

      It would get a little complicated grabbing stuff around but the Beat Buddy Manager software will be able to help with what you're asking. Head to the forum for more details.

    Pete, interesting demo but a newbie question for you. What do you mean by "a full range system"? Thank you.

    • @SingularSoundOfficial
      @SingularSoundOfficial 6 лет назад

      The BeatBuddy sounds best when plugged into a speaker that plays the 'full range' of sound frequencies. Many electric guitar amps muffle certain frequencies which make the BeatBuddy not sound as sharp. A regular PA or your home stereo system will sound great (you can plug the BeatBuddy's headphone jack into your home stereo Aux in jack). An acoustic guitar amp or keyboard amp would sound great too.

  • @uneel061

    Hi Pete, thanks for the video.
    And I am also planning to get one.
    But is it worth getting this big BB or better wait for newer version as its been nearly 7yrs since it came out.
    Please just share your experience.
    I can wait for may be another 6months or so for newer version rather than hating myself for buying this model and the new one pops up in the market the following week..

    • @Majik53
      @Majik53 2 года назад

      Maybe I can help here, even though I am a year late. I got the BB mini 2 first, then discovered there was no way to write my own beats with it, so I got the big one used (with the footswitch) and purchased the 2021 premium complete SD; difference is night and day. It was a lot more coin to spend, but it is absolutely worth it. I found there is another way to use the manager app and a midi editor to make a 'one tap' song so you don't have to do so many transitions for cover songs. I think the person who made the tutorial is called Dan Lee, and it simplifies gigging with it.

    This sounds incredible...thank you for a wonderful demo. I have a question about incorporating this into a home recording situation. I'm just getting into home recording, and I would prefer to mic my guitar cabs rather than going direct. So, what do you think would be ideal? Record the beats simultaneously while you're playing/performing with them (I assume both drums and guitar would be coming out of the guitar amp speaker), or record a drum track directly through the interface (if you can do that??) and then begin to layer things separately on top of it?

    • @vicenteb531
      @vicenteb531 5 лет назад +1

      Record the drum track directly to your interface (recommended in stereo!) while recording at the same time the guitar with mics. The drums can be a reference at while recording the guitar. Then you can re- record the final version of the drums. That´s how I do it.

    • @SingularSoundOfficial
      @SingularSoundOfficial 9 месяцев назад

      Hey there, for recording your BeatBuddy we highly recommend plugging it into you interface for the highest quality of sound. We recommend not playing/recording your BeatBuddy through a guitar amp as the guitar amp tone can distort the sound and this could possibly blow out the amp since guitar amps are not full range.
