"I Will Die In Thailand," Says American Steve Rosse

  • Steve Rosse returns! I interviewed Steve 6 months ago when Steve planned to retire in Thailand. In that interview Steve spoke about a promise he made to himself that one day he would make it back to Thailand to see out the last years of his life on a quiet beach. Steve also discussed his financial situation and how he plans to live on a meagre pension of 1500 USD per month. The comment section exploded after that interview. The naysayers said moving to Thailand was another of a long list of bad decisions Steve has made in his life. Well Steve did move to Thailand and in this interview he talks about his life in Turtle Beach, the new content on his RUclips channel and of course he addresses the naysayers. #movingtothailand #lifeinthailand #thairishtimes

1500 USD isn't a bad pension for Thailand! Mine is similar although I own a condo and have ample savings. At this point, I struggle to find ways to spend more money! Also consider retiring in the U.S. on 1500 is a horror show if you don't own your home free and clear. Many such people are homeless or living in cars. Moving to Thailand or other lower cost countries makes perfect sense. Of course the medical situation is an issue here but if you're homeless you're basically almost dead anyway. I enjoy Steve's internet offerings very much.

Beyond Steve’s fascinating stories and rare storytelling talent, there is something else on which I can’t exactly put my finger. It is as if he had discovered the ultimate futility of seriousness, and the fleeting nature of everything about us all and about the lives we lead. I think I can also glimpse some deep sadness behind the nonchalance. A talented man with the fascinating experiences that only come with an unscripted life. Wishing him a long, healthy and happy life.

Do you try to hide your weaknesses from others or do you try to get by as best you can, secure in the knowledge that absolutely every human being who has ever lived has done the same thing? Fantastic interview Pete. 👌🏻💪🏻 Steve’s a fascinating guy, loved listening to him tell his stories. Let him know, I use davinci resolve 17- now I think it’s 18. The free version. It’s can be a little overwhelming, but there is plenty of people on RUclips telling you how to use it.
    All the best Mate..🍻

Fascinating interview. I would imagine that one can stretch $1500/month further than in the States, although I heard that rents are very high in Thailand now. So happy to hear that his decision to move back to Thailand is working well for him. Love the puppet show. How creative!

An interview shouldn't be a monologue but with Steve it's hard to get your words in edgewise.
I saw his previous appearances on this channel and this one was not really adding much at all. Reason being is that if you live in a remote place then not much is happening unless it's in your head.Steve had some interesting experiences 20 or so years ago and wrote some great short stories about them .
Now he has no material to reflect on. I guess he could write some fiction if he had the endurance for a novel . He hadn't before but now he's got nothing much else to do . Talking about an impending death is boring.
Talking to strangers because of lack of relationships tells you a lot . This isn't a way for life to wind down , certainly not at 65 or so. Heart attacks or not.

Well, I hate to disagree with you, but you're wrong. I've been living in Thailand six months and I've enjoyed every minute. My days are full making YT videos. Eating food. Sitting on the beach. Riding my bicycle. Plenty going on in Thai Meuang, but I'm not writing about it because nobody is buying books any more. I sell one book a day; I've had six hundred views of my latest video in the past 24 hours. Since it's all about seeking attention, obviously video is the way to go.

He just repeats the same thing about the same subjects over and over again.
I could actually outline them here but what's the point?
He's going to repeat them anyway.Theres a phrase "He loves the sound of his own voice",that's his essence.
He's going nowhere but just wants others to think that he's been somewhere.

The people saying you can't live on $1500 USD a month in Thailand must blow through cash like it's going out of style. I've been living on $1500 USD a month in the centre of Bangkok, and I'm living a pretty damn good life on that budget. I could make loads more savings if I felt like being frugal. And if I went out to a smaller city I'm sure you could live on even less again.

Hard to understand how he would make 100,000 a year and only gets 1500 a month ss

    • @steverosse
      @steverosse 9 месяцев назад

Because freelancing in the film industry you are paid on a 1099. Responsible for making your own SS payments. As a young, cocky man I chose not to. Then I worked for eight years in Thailand, and did not pay into the system. So my payout is smaller than most American men my age.

Hello Pete! I have messaged you before and told you I was planning. On moving to Thailand. I wanted to give you an update. I have completely moved here away from the Beach in California. I sold my Tesla and everything else I owned and am now living in a dream condo in Jomtien Beach. I had not even been to Thailand until the end of last year and have visited 3 time before I moved. You and your wife had a lot of influence on that decision. I genuinely have nothing but appreciation for the effort you both put into videos introducing other to a real life in Thailand. I am forever thankful!
Thanks pal and I hope you are enjoying life where you are.
    Cheers!
