My Makita 18V LXT died the first time I used it. Guy in the Makita shop said you can’t apply too much pressure while grinding. I’d used grinders for years and just did as normal but the motor burned out. Unbelievable. I misplaced the receipt and lost the tool. He said grinders are better with power cable. I wish I could but I can’t say “Makita, so built to last”
if you change blades often every day then yes X-lock grinder would be a good option, but my diamond blades can last for months plus getting the blade you want might not be an option with X-lock
@@andre1987eph both have been great tools with no issues, when I first bought the grinder I will admit finding the xlock cut off wheels were hard to find if at all but it's gotten better. If there's anything I would change it would have dewalts new handle that you can set on an angle but that's life still no complaints
Great review man! the xlock system is definitely something interesting and convenient but i don't like the premium price on the blades 😒 I know they make diamond core drills for the x lock system so they definitely got you covered
Does thing makita brushless grinder make any vibration? I was kind of disapointed when I purchased my milwaukee brushless grinder, it make a lot of vibration and I gotta use my corded variable speed makita grinder for the more precise cuts.
Hello friend how's it going if I could ask you what was the model of Milwaukee grinder that you bought my main grinder currently is a Milwaukee fuel M18 4 1/2" to 5" paddle style grinder and it has worked extremely well this past 2 years although I do wish there was a bit less vibration
Its not terrible but not as smooth and balanced as the corded makita. I use the corded for tile and cordless for cement board and metal shluter trim. Im with ya on paddle triggers too👎
Keep it rocking 👍👍 I'll be buying that Makita very soon. In cases people who use normal grinders are wondering. That Makita can cut through half-inch steel plate. And yes it fits all types of normal grinder blades. The benefit of this grinder is its brushless which means it'll Outlast any corded drill.
Absoluity of no use to a Tiler. How do you put on an M14 core bit ? i think its more of a gimmick, Fast blade change is more for a multi tool it looks nice tough :D
I loved the tool, but the bearings went in just over a month. I used it for stone cutting three times, and lead flashing on a roof once. I love makita tools… I hope this was a fluke.
Do you throw away your car/phone when a new one is released? I don't think so right?! innovation on a tool does not make your old tool obsolete. Within the tile industry it is not uncommon for the installer to use diamond blades, diamond hole bits and sanding/buffing pads on the same day the reality is that quick change mechanisms have been implemented on many tools throughout the years and grinders are get their turn. The Xlock system along with quick break, Bluetooth multi-tool connectivity and battery technology are the future
You fail to show how the shrouds (2) inhibit and make cumbersome, the " blades" installation. You also chose the tile example (circle cut) specifically, to justify omission of shrouds in review. Another point: you now have to buy ONLY Makita "blades"🤡

This will change my life. It will be my next purchase. 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻
The X-lock drill adaptor is a bit of a game changer as well.
LOVE my X-Lock! How many times with a standard grinder do you spend 20 minutes trying to find the darn wrench?
Really good point. I’ve been there probably a couple dozen times lol
At least 2 hours.I did spend time trying to find the wrench; I had 2..but now I will buy this one.after all I have other Makita tools too!!!
If you press the tool lock button you can unlock the disc holder by grabbing the disc with your hand and turn it, don't need a wrench.

True. Good point.
Do you not change between polishing?
@@James-dv1df i don't polish i cut
I just bought this on Thanksgiving sale with the battery and charger. took me 3 days of research. (Was looking for grinder with best safety features.)
I love it …I will definitely get one today
I have the 125mm version surprised mine was also 2.ukg although did have the 3amph battery
Remove the battery when changing the cutting disc!
Got 1 today and the multi tool...presents to myself lol
How do you like it today, two years out?

Diamond hole bits* and they are available from Bosch and other companies
And isn't there a more choice of different types of blades, with a regular mounting system?
thanks

@@tomg3285 HI there, i believe it is the 2781-20 fuel slide switch. Personally not a fan of the paddle version.

when u move the unit around so much its impossible to examine the mechanism properly to see how the blades lock in
Can you use Diablo blades
Yup
how long does the battery take working
You mean the new multi-tool has Starlock (not X-Lock)?

Can you lock trigger on
No led light?
Bosch patent....
They all should thank BOSCH
Bosch did a terrible job marketing X-Lock. I dunno what the heck they were thinking.
What buffing blades do you use for getting those tiles with a factory finish, big man?
50 or 60 grit diamond pad. I have links in the video description "my tools"
@@LandbergTileTV do you not use a pad on your grinder? Do you only use a hand pad?

They make them for the Xlock bro lol
I see alotts guys arguing the price of blades.. well the blades or wheels are only like a dollar more per wheel…. That’s not that bad
Prices are coming down as well. I bet they'll be the same cost soon, especially when other brands utilize X-Lock.
Pretty cool but hopefully they dont convert all of them to the paddle trigger. Hate them!!
great vid. better than POS dewalt grinder. nice

Interesting, Makita makes great tools
The quick release is awesome. I sold all my Makita tools and got all cordless dewalt they have a great cordless grinder.. I shoulda got Milwaukee tho
Diamond blades are directional, pretty sure the one in this vid was incorrectly used
negative
With the X-lock you cannot put the accessory on backwards. The blades and wheels are made like that.
Where r u live,s????
Means contry and city name??
Go Berg!
Why 2 Guards?
5" Tool-Less Wheel Guard (140T26-1);5" Cut-Off Wheel Guard (140U29-1) They are built differently, one is open and other enclosed
@@FixthisCD Okay, they both looked identical, lol.
I do see one is a bit deeper.
One is for grinding/buffing and is opened on one side the other is enclosed for cutting. Those also go on and adjust without tools.
I m from pakistan
No. Not the future. Who's changing their blades that often. What happens to all the old grinders out there. We just throw them away?
