In this video, Dr. Christi Pramudji gives you real solutions for discomfort in the vaginal area. Urogenital atrophy also called genitourinary syndrome of menopause is a very common problem.
There are four main ways to treat this:
1. Vaginal Estrogen replacement.
2. MonaLisa Touch Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
3. ThermiVa Radiofrequency Vaginal Rejuvenation
4. Supplemental moisturizers and lubrication
You can find Dr. Christi on Facebook, on her blog or on her website: www.HoustonFemaleUrology.com. On the website is an info email line for private inquiries. She would love to hear from you! Of course, you may ask questions or comment in the comment section below!

Vaginal atrophy is a big problem. But there are great solutions! I hope this video helped you. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Dr I get frequent UTI after intercourse
That is a very common problem and I recommend that you see your urologist about that. All the best!
Thanks Dr
I do have problem of vagina dryness
ChristiMD Medical Group Thermiva is a win for feminine medicine that’s for sure. That male shaped radio frequency device is amazing.
The CO2 laser from that other company is also very nice win.
But what about Masculine medicine? Thermiva could be the answer for masculine medicine.
Masculine medicine should have a female shaped version of that radio frequency device. Make a female shaped elastic version of that device.
Otherwise masculine medicine will lag behind and that’s a form of inequality.
This is what I hate about videos made by doctors. They always say let me know if you have any questions and comment below. I see many questions and I see absolutely no comments from the doctor. Except to say you're welcome. Stop offering to answer our questions if you don't intend to answer them.
I noticed the same thing.
So true and frustrating
@@pamelam7491 I think there needs to be a website or channel hosted by normal people who have had various experiences with all kinds of treatment and treatment providers to share with others. I find I get a lot of good info from the comment sections of these channels. Any thoughts?
She said to go to her website if you have questions because there is a space to ask questions privately. She didn't say to ask questions in the comments section.
These are not true doctors. Most of these docs on YT appear to be reading from Wikipedia. Thus, anyone can be a doc on YT. Did anyone look for her credentials. They can fake them too.
Thank so much for the info. my friend had the Mona Lisa T and thrilled with it !!
Thank you for talking about this subject. I found it very helpful.
God bless you Christi!
Thank you! This was so helpful.
This gives me a little hope!
So much information and succinctly shared. Thank you.

I had a hysterectomy in 2014. I have been using Coconut oil for dryness every day. Also for a lubricant.. It has been a lifesaver.
I use coconut oil as well. Cheap and needs no prescription. It works amazingly well.
@@marilynvanos3081 Hello how and when do you use the coconut oil ?
A LIFESAVER? BEING LUBRICATED HAS SAVED YOUR LIFE?! WTF?!
After my Hysterectomy, it is very painful if I don't use a lubricant. I don't produce it. It literally feels like sandpaper inside. Horrible
After I shower. I put a little on my finger and insert. I wear a panty liner to keep off of underwear.
Before intercourse I do the same.
Coconut has other benefits as well. I used to get many yeast infections. Now it it rare. It is supposed to have antifungal properties.
Thank you for being so direct and informative. Feel like a life saver has been tossed.
I see my new obgyn this week. Thank you for this. Thank you so much.
WOW thank you - Options I did not know of! And options with out B- CA risks! THANK YOU
So informative Dr. Christine! I’m 59, (post?) menopausal. The ads for vaginal rejuvenation make it sound like it’s this sexy frivolous thing for young women who want a tighter vagina for their man. Gave up on sex and relationships when it was so painful, I bled and cried. I tried the estrogen cream sporadically, messy didn’t know what I was doing, basically not instructed and too mortified to ask. Suffering in silence for too many years. Now I know. Thank you! You may have changed my life 🎉
thank you for compassionately sharing your hard-won expertise with others :-)
You are welcome!
WOW! i have all of this, didnt relate my many uti's to it. will get to doc asap! thank you

What an informative video.🤩
Thank you so much for this information.
I had the Mona Lisa Treatment…….it works, I noticed a difference after the first of 3 treatments.
Another point to be made in the issues regarding the reasons for the acceleration of vaginal atrophy,
is caffeine consumption, sugars and alcohol…of course these 3 habits in particular must be addressed regarding menopausal and post menopausal issues in their contribution towards the thinning and dryness do to the hormonal changes ……..Any foods and liquids that dehydrate are a culprit…..quality fats and getting a grip on food allergies will help considerably…….a more keto diet and quality fluids throughout the day…
I am a 56 yr old who just using estrogen cream as due to my incontinence and they meaning my doctors want to fit me with a pessary thank you for some of your tips

Thank you for this informational video. I had not heard of the laser or the thermo so I appreciate this information.
Thank you so much!
Making and drinking my own kefir changed my life with this issue. I make desserts with kefir too and since consuming have had no issues and believe me the irritation drove me insane. All good now. Bx
Oh that’s interesting, kefir 👍 because as you say the irritation is driving me insane even with using pessaries
I just came across your video.
I started having all of that problem including pelvic pain.
I went to a “Duke” Doctor and it was the biggest disappointment in my experience with a Gyno.
My other resolution was seeing a “Pelvis Therapy”. She was so helpful that following her advice my condition have gotten better!!
Hi maam.is pelvis exercise really help to this problem?is it kegel exercise?pls help.i felt a lot of pain this time.thank you
Hey! I’d like to hear how therapy helped you!! didn’t follow thru w/ pelvic therapy b/c it didn’t seem ,during assessment ,like the Therapist could address how it might help the inner pain w/sex-my only complaint-She set me up to work on the pSos muscles …..which I can do at home. With a $50 copay in these tough times…if she didn’t know how therapy could address my issue, I never went back. 😬
You are right. This helps as well.
There are good male doctors, but I always gravitate to women doctors. When I was in my 20's a male Gyno squeezed my uterus like a friggen lemon! I started bleedng and stormed out of there saying "If you send me a bill, I will send it back to you in a million little pieces!" I pity his wife! Been successfully going to women ever since.
@@bluerazz3504 why anyone would go to a male gyno is beyond my comprehension. [he is certainly divorced by now]
Yes, it's easy to solve
Thanks for the information
I’d rather use coconut oil or olive oil,all the other stuff sound a bit too medical for me ,thanks for the information👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Sadly not covered by insurance so only wealthy women can get this done. I live in constant pain since menopause.
Agree
I use the cream every second night and it works well.

About Thermiva or Mona Lisa: How do we get practioners to protect the 12 O'clock and 6 O'Clock areas of the vagina? 12 O'Clock has the urethra and G-spot and 6 O'Clock has the rectum both areas should be protected according to my pelvic floor PT and other PT authors!
I have had Mona - and get it each year! Painful after you have it but pain goes away. Now I also do Diasport. what I hate is that all of this Hass to be paid out of pocket and insurance pays nothing for women’s care. That’s despicable the Mona cost $2800 initially and then 900 every year the Diasport cost is $600. And the first two have to be three months apart. I am so blessed to have the means to have this done I feel so sorry for any woman and supposedly it’s like 80% of women post my menopausal have issues.
What is Diasport?

Thank you so much for addressing this. This is exactly what is happening to me!
It's all happening naturally! Stop wasting time and money trying to force your body to be younger, it's not, medical nonsense is getting rich from women trying to manipulate their bodies, just enjoy your life, you won't die if you're not having sex, nature says you're done.

Best and thorough video on vagina atrophy treatments. I have atrophy and started hormone cream. Hope it helps.
Where does this estrogen come from? What is it comprised of?
Fortunately my Bartholin's glands
work really great.
Really. Really. Great.
Thanks for your concern.
That is great info , does any insurance pays for those procedures ?
Are there effects on mood when atrophy is at its worst. I have the symptoms you described but mood and temporary hot flashes as well. Probably 10 years past menopause symptoms.
Thank you. Had my first Mona tx. Today.
Pamela how did it go? What were your results?
@@djuanaberuk9908 have had two treatments thus far - one to go. Less pain and irritation in the area. Skin seems to be getting thicker and back to normal. 🙂

I had this 7 times..
HONESTLY...its worth the money and time you have getting cured.
I' have no more pain n discomfort.
How many x do you have to have the treatments???
I used the Estrogen cream for several months with no improvement. So I did 4 sessions of the Mona Lisa which was very painful and I bled quite a bit so I quit having the Mona Lisa and it was also very expensive. Still searching for a treatment that works without pain.
Use a thick baby bottom cream. Works better than hormone creams etc. And stays on longer. Don't use immediately before being with your husband as it dulls everything down, use coconut oil or similar.
Great info!
Thanks!
Great info, nice to know there are so many solutions
Yes! We are living in a great era for women's health!
I saw your post and I know that you and the others are unaware of the solution I have used for over 20 years--to de-age. Homeopathic remedies are "safe" and you can use them at home. NO such thing as Bio-ID hormones. Ask for Mohr
Will this help if you’ve had a total hysterectomy?
My gyn prescribed estrogen cream. In NJ it cost $450!!! And not covered by insurance. I buy it from Canada for $75. One tube lasts a few months. I’m going to try the coconut oil.
The cream (estradiol) caused me to have high blood pressure, pelvic pains, headaches and burning, sleepiness that all happened in 1 treatment that lasted 4 days. Had to stop that .
Thank you so much for this very informative video and for clarifying that the Estrogen based treatments are mostly safe for women with family history of breast cancer. I have used Vagifem inserts and it helped a lot but I ended up getting a bad yeast infection after a month of using. So with the high cost here in Canada to get that product I was
reluctant to get repeat. I'm wondering if the laser treatment 2nd option you mention is available in Canada as my
Dr has not mentioned such a thing. Thanks again for sharing this valuable info., Susan
I thought all you Canadians got health care for free.
vagifem does not cause yeast infections. you can treat the infection and continue to use vagifem.
@@scottiehall8695 health care is free, but not prescription meds. If you have health care insurance through work, it covers meds, usually 80% coverage, but you have to pay the monthly premium, it comes out of your paycheque. If you don’t have insurance through your employment, you have to go on the government plan, which also costs.
Sure!
what is the better treatment? radio frequency or laser?? Which gives best results or how can one determine which treatment would best? thank you

So happy I found you on RUclips ❣
Thank you very helpful
Thank you very much that is great but how do you apply coconut and olive oils thanks
Pumpkin seed oil thickens the lining inside and great for the skin. Take cold pressed 1 tabel spoon every day. Estroil cream, in general, is a life saver:)
Did you tried pumpkin seed oil? What is Estriol made of please?
@@nietzschesmuse I take pumpkin seed oil every day, cold pressed. You can buy it capsules or oil in a bottle. I take 1 table spoon every day. You can put it in your salad. I buy Life-flo BIEstro care body cream with estriol and estradiol. These estrogen are less aggressive compare to estrogen creams but they get job done. I use this cream on my face too.
@@Maria_Serbina Where do you put his cream? Is it just on the body, or is it supposed to be applied to vaginal area only?
Thanks Doctor, you have given me a great solution to my problem. Is the coconut oil and olive oil in cream form?
I'm sure she meant olive oil and coconut oil just as they naturally are, not any special products. I used to use olive oil on external parts to sooth dryness and soreness for a few years, which helps a lot. Then I heard about coconut oil being used for this problem and have been using it for a few years myself, it really helps. I mentioned it to my Doctor and she was very happy, said coconut oil has antibacterial properties which is great. I haven't used internally, but from the information the Doc gave here, seems she approves of that. I have been prescribed estrogen pessaries so seems to keep internal area okay. Don't be afraid to try the oils, they're very soothing. Good luck.
@@happydays3678 thank you for this lots of blessings
Coconut oil is actually a solid at room temperature even though it is called an "oil". It is also antimicrobial which means it fights bacterial, viral and fungal infections without side effects.
I am estrogen deficient due to breast cancer treatment. Which of these tx’s would be helpful and not cause greater risk for breast cancer?
I love you doctor christi💐💐💐
I found olive oil no good as it got really uncomfortably hot and was absorbed too quickly, coconut oil on the other hand was really good.
Hi Doctor please I want to know if vitamin E oil is Also good to lubricate the walls of the virgina
Dont use vitamin e oil inside . Take vitamin e capsules only as directed on bottle.

Sprouts carries a product to use also Calendula ointment!
The Mona Lisa Touch is expensive in Australia ($600 - $700) per visit. There's 3 visits initially and I needed top ups every 5-6 months. This cannot be claimed on medicare, so costs are completely out of pocket. The treatment itself remained painful for me, even when using a topical anaesthetic cream. It also takes 5-10 days to recover and starts to deteriorate about a month before the next treatment. So not ideal. The oestrogen based cream is also required. So for many of us, this is a big cost undertaking with patchy results. I can't help wondering if men suffered this problem if the treatments would be better and free!
Here in the US our health insurance companies cover Viagra and other male impotency drugs. Yeah...
Your comment about men is stupid. It's up to women to fix women's problems not men. How are men meant to know the problems if they don't suffer from it themselves? Do you know older men's problems and what they feel like? And if you did, would they be your first priority to cure or would it be issues you understand better yourself?
@@loots9821sadly you missed the point of her statement - no need to be so incredibly rude and vulgar
@@gloriasaliba3395 it may have been rude to say "stupid" but it wasn't vulgar. Modern women criticize men at every turn for everything, including their natural behaviours when our own natural traits are no better or no worse. Why should our problems be solved by men? Where are all the feminists training as doctors to cure women's issues? Or do they just wait for men to do it for them?🤷♂️
It would be free.. women need better healthcare
I was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis at menopause, and I have been using Betaderm cream for over 20 years now and I get checked regularly by my GP. I have experienced complete atrophy of the labia folds over the years but, recently, the condition seems to be responding well to just Sudocream application and/or Vaseline. I have not used the Betaderm cream now for over a month and my condition seems fine and I’m not experiencing any itching or burning hardly at all. Do I need to worry about further atrophy of the genitalia or worsening of incontinence from discontinuing the Betaderm? I was concerned about the prolonged use of the steroid so I stopped using it as an experiment. I was also noticing some swelling of my face recently and some occasional sweating. Are there withdrawal symptoms from discontinuing the Betaderm? Many thanks for your channel - it is very informative and the comments are helpful.
I spent maybe over 700 dollars on different oils and cremes for my itch and soreness in vigina I got tested in December 2022 I had Tinea I was Recommended Lamisil Gel. Gel sticks to the skin better than creme. It takes 7 straight days before you will feel results. What I did was shower in the morning rub in Vaseline then wash at night put on Lamisil Gel.
I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis a year ago. My doctor acted like it wasn’t a big deal, and basically only told me to change my brand of toilet paper. It’s miserable! I’m looking for a new doctor and getting help from my dermatologist.
@@TexSquirrelSorry to hear that your doctor is a moron. Lichen is not caused by toilet paper nor will it go away from stopping certain brands of toilet paper. I believe Clobetasol cream is best when there’s a flare up. But I’m not a doc. Mention that to your new doc😊
@@TexSquirrel Don't use any kind of soap or non-soap cleaners. Just clean water. I started using pure organic cocoa butter to soothe the vulva area and vagina. Some people use coconut oil and/or olive oil. Must use a mat or towel on bed to absorb melted butters and oils. My Lichen Sclerosis went away. Hint: be careful of abrasive quality of menstrual pads. They rub the delicate tissues of the vulva. I bought a bidet attachment for my toilet that keeps me very clean and cuts down on abrasion from toilet paper. If using toilet paper, blot, don't wipe vulva. :)

Hello again. I was wandering what is better; premaring vaginal cream, Vagifem, Yuvafem or estrogen inserts?
They all work about the same. Many women don’t like using Premarin cream, however, because it is made from the urine of pregnant horses-and the method in which the urine is taken from the horses has been known to constitute animal cruelty!
