Use black pepper and sprinkle it around the walls and entry ways. Use pepper mint oil to mop and wipe things down. Mice and rats have highly sensitive noses and cant handle the smell. You dont have to worry about having to find their dead bodies either. We had some people next to us hire an exterminator which chased their rats to our house. We tried everything. In my room I used black pepper and peppermint oil to mop. I was the only one to not have them come in my room. Unlike traps mice and rats can learn to avoid. I swear on it. Black pepper and peppermint oil. It will send them running away the moment you use it and they will avoid ur house at all cost. I have an extreme phobia of things that crawl. Bugs and mice. Trust me on this.

You can legally withhold rent if you prove you're putting it in an escrow account until the problem is resolved. Send a certified letter to the landlord that says that's what you're doing. Look up the tenant landlord laws in your state, but what I've described is usually the answer. There ARE laws to protect tenants, but people are uninformed & landlords know that. They'll get away with anything they can if you let them. Don't let them. Knowledge is power!

Most landlord tenant law dictates that every resident can withhold rent until the matter is resolved. They have to set up an escrow account & prove they are still depositing funds equal to rent payments, but they don't have to turn them over until the problem is resolved. At which point you're probably in court, so the judge would likely reduce the amount due to inconvenience to you. If they had banded together & done this 2 years ago, the complex would've been forced to address it. I can't believe they lived with this infestation for 2 years & did nothing but made phone calls. 🤦

I'm sure the residents do nothing to draw the rodents in. But, property owners getting federal funding, not promptly getting a pest control company to take care of a dangerous infestation is so wrong. That should mean a big fine and revocation of all federal funding. With immediate repayment for the last 5 years that this took to happen.

Disgusting and the manager has a lot of nerve getting on camera saying the tenants are her concern. Yeah now that she's been exposed! She should have to live there!

Odd, that was my first response as well. And it would not need that many. Perhaps ask the local shelter if they need some foster homes for a few weeks.

MY NEIGHBORS GOT SICK FROM MICE DROPPINGS.....ITS SUPER HAZARDOUS!
"Hantavirus is a potentially life-threatening disease transmitted to humans by rodents-primarily, the white-footed deer mouse. People become infected through exposure or inhalation of infected rodent urine, droppings or saliva, and the chances increase when people are near spaces where rodents are actively living."
my owners left the outer walls hanging open during a "renovation". my neighbor was deathly ill for weeks.
reason gov, senator, code enforce came to Hilltop Village yall. that is super serious.
