@@Budd631 Thieves have known this for a long time. A few years ago a poker player at the Rio for the big tournament, had about $30,000 in cash stolen....no cameras in the hallways he was told. Most of these big expensive hotels should have a room safe.
Ever heard the term what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? I am pretty sure that explains the lack of cameras in the rest of the hotel… Their way of “protecting the guest”... from scandal, rather than anything else.
Worked at the Wynn for 5 years. I'll say it again, hotel security IS NOT THERE FOR YOU! They are there to protect thr company and could not care any less about you as a guest.
If guests stop coming to Wynn then security will have no company to protect and will find themselves in the unemployment line. The Wynn is one of the best casinos for a reason and it’s because they know how to treat people. If Wynn didn’t care about it’s customers how is it able to charge premium rates to stay at their hotel, eat at their restaurants, and party in their clubs? I’m sure it’s because they care about their guests. In case you missed it, Wynn is a multi billion company. You don’t get to this level of success by pissing on your customers.
Which is only right. Its up to the individual guest to ensure that there beongings are secure, not the Hotel. People need to stop casting blame and start being responsible.
I'm confident it was their own employees... they have access, they know the room layouts, they know when you're likely sleeping, etc. Plus if it weren't them, the hotel would release video footage.
@@thomasgriffin8269 if security was in on it they could be disabled easily and without a deep drive into the system nobody would give notice all it would take is a few security staff plus maybe housekeeping or something probly could get away with it for years if they didn't get to greedy most ppl probly think they lost stuff drunk
Exactly, that's why i carry one of those metal things that brace against the door so it cant be pushed open and i dont stay in rooms with adjoining doors.
We were in St. Augustine, partying on the balcony. The housekeeper had let herself in, appeared at the glass door and asked if we "needed" anything. I could tell in an instant, she was "blocking" for someone else. I jumped up, shoved her aside, to find another maid roaming the room. Lesson Learned!
@@plusmaster100 Shoooed them both out the door and di a frantic inventory. Later, the head maid brought a "trainee" to the room. Prettiest lil Russian girl I had ever seen. But no english. Later I jumped up in bed realizing they were probably pimping her out.
A friend had his stuff stolen from his room. They used his cards and racked up $$$$ on the cards before he knew they were stolen. Vegas is very quiet about this .
Sometimes tho guests scam the hotel claiming they lost something or something happened to them to get compensation even tho its not true. Fyi, doors at modern hotel rooms are designed to have enough pressure in the room to have the them shut by itself. All keys opening the room are also being recorded. So, if some random people went to their room, its either they let them in, or they came in without them shutting the door right away upon leaving. And hello, why didnt they use their safe in the rooms? Oh well.
When I'm in hotels 'anywhere' I use something called "The Scream". It's a little battery-operated device that you hang on your doorknob inside your room and if the door is opened (or even if the door knob or handle is turned, it lets out a high decibel schreeching sound until you get up and turn it off.
I stayed at the Park MGM this month. I saw my connecting room door latch move when I was in bed. It happened two times and freaked me out a bit. The top deadbolt was on but, it was so shady. Be careful out there people. Expect more crime since covid has put a money strain on lots of people.
@Cabrini Copia It is not paranoia if there is a possibility of an incident happening. It is a natural human instinct to be careful in unfamiliar surroundings, but we, in modern times tend to ignore those feelings because we want to " have fun and be carefree". Be aware, be smart and you will be in more control of your environment. Hence, more fun! Take care and be safe.
putting glass bottles at the door would make noise if someone were to open the door..or a chair up under the door handle will make it impossible to open from outside..
I just left there a week ago and the housekeeping lady walked in on me after I told her I had towels and the room didn't need cleaning. Play at your own risk.

@David Evans Real Estate What's wrong with having thieves for house keepers. Not everyone is a honest worker. U must work in the industry or u have family that works there. What don't you get. She checked on me in the hallway when I was walking out. U knock twice and say housekeeping. She knocked once real quick then walked in. The manager said it wasn't policy. No reason to lie. My family and friends worked in hotels also. Housekeepers are the most known thieves in a hotel. Ask anyone who works there.
@David Evans Real Estate I'm really curious about this. Can you share an example? I looked at a few policies of the hotels I like and the only mention I see of 48 hours is new, and it is that hotels are left vacant for 48 hours between guests due to covid. Ive never heard that hotels require house keeping to go into a customers room; a knock or check in is also different than them actually keying in. It seems like common sense if you are an active guest and specify housekeeping isnt needed, that that is a clear violation of privacy that they can just key/come in due to policy.
I left my room for dinner walked out and saw cleaning lady in hallway she looked at me pull on door to make sure it was locked, returned 1 hour later and all valuables gone in my room..do the Math
It’s a hotel staff member. This is not a new thing in Vegas. I have worked on a lot of corporate industrial events in the hotel ballrooms over the years, and I can cite two separate occasions when a production crew members computer was taken during a crew break. I have had a phone taken from a room by a hotel staff member. Until hotel management can have trusted security or metro run a sting operation, the rouge employee will continue to commit these crimes.

This is why I always have a door stop with me when I go to hotels, I had a situation happen when I was younger and that shit scarred me for life.. Door stops are a life saver when you're staying in hotels. I know that it doesn't quite help when your not in the room but there's a safe and atleast when you're sleeping you have a sense of security. Edit: good to know this advice has and will help some, safe travels friends! 🥂
Even better, I have the kind that if ur door is even jiggled a little bit it emits a piercing alarm that'll wake up the dead. Let's u know someone's out there screwing around!
It is very easy for crooks to conceal locksmith tools in their luggage. The reason why Wynn Security said the door was opened from the inside is because the crooks used a locksmith under the door reach rod with a piece of string to grab the doorknob. Despite all the deadbolts and the door chain or fold over stopper, all of those devices can be bypassed with locksmith tools. I always prop the ironing board against the door when I stay in hotel rooms. If someone enters in the middle of the night, the ironing board falling over will make a loud noise.
Its someone that works there. Its always someone that works there. Maybe working but letting a buddy run around and crap. Only an employee would know if a room in occupied. Unless someone is loitering out in the hallway.
I was sleeping in a hotel (not here) when I heard the door open. Luckily they had a chain that locked from the inside otherwise I don't know what would have happened. My husband ran out to the hallway and of course that person was gone. Security said they would check cameras but we heard nothing after that. Not a comforting feeling.
My items were stolen from Bally’s when I stayed there. I asked them to check security cameras which they refused to do and offered me cash as incentive to close the case. I guess they knew who did it.
I work for Bally’s, you can get lots of things like a comped room, meal/drink voucher, free gameplay...but one thing a casino never gives away, is cash.
I’m glad I watched this! It’s easy to assume that the Five-Star hotels are safe, but the truth is they are not. Planning for our own safety is paramount, if there is to be any at all.
That's exactly what I was thinking. When that door was opened from the inside at 1am, I'll bet that was the crook LEAVING. My guess is he/she was in there waiting.
I grew up in Vegas and I remember back in the 70s there was a bunch of tourists being robbed at the mgm, they were even killing people who walked in on them while robbing the rooms, turned out to be hotel security, I would be done staying at that hotel and always make sure your shit is locked up tight no matter where you are...♡

I used to work for a very large and busy hotel chain. Crimes like this always were committed by the hotel security. Security has control over all the cameras in the hotel and they have a master key to every room and ballroom to the hotel. What they do is they work together with someone at the front desk that checks people in and that person tips them off. They also work in conjunction with housekeeping. It’s one big scheme.
Wow. This is beyond disgraceful. I worked as armed security/EMT in a casino in Tunica County MS. We rarely had room thefts. There were surveillance cameras everywhere. Including hallways in the hotel. Occasional vehicle break-ins, but never when I was doing outside patrol. Yes, never. We did our jobs. We didn't steal from our guests.
First time to Vegas in 2015, I used my travel card only once at the hotel while checking in, couple days later all funds were taken out , this has inside job suspicion
I stayed at the Palms casino with my boyfriend in a suite that someone managed to climb into through our balcony. I was going out for fresh air & saw someone’s body halfway into our balcony coming from the balcony beside us as well as another person shining a flashlight. After that incident, I always lock the balcony if not in use and request rooms that have door security guards. It’s so easy to let your guard down and assume a peaceful and comforting stay.
In 2019, while staying at the Delano in Las Vegas, I was asleep on the sofa and my wife and daughter were asleep in the bedroom. Someone came in and stole our valuables, some were sitting right above my head. Thank God I didn't wake up. Who knows what could've happened to my family. YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS. Every one of these casinos has a video of every one of these crimes. They do not show them or admit they have them because that would open them up to liability and the news of most of these crimes being inside jobs would not be good for business.
Hotel security on the strip is a joke. At the Monte Carlo several years ago I was in my room brushing my teeth when my room door suddenly opened. I yelled out, door closed. I immediately ran into the hallway, no one was there, obviously they went into an adjacent room. No cart from housekeeping so it wasn’t them. Security told me I was the last one to enter the room, hard when you’re already in it. I packed up and left. I trust no one in Las Vegas. The entire city is devoted to separating tourists from their money without remorse. Business travel gets me there a couple times a year but I will never, ever, stay on the strip again. I take extra security precautions where I do stay.

The staff are thieves too. I stayed there last year and all the staff in one of the hotels was hideous and lied about access to the pool and breakfast. Horrible service.
I am so naive! I had no idea it was even possible to get into a locked room with some sort of device by slipping it under a door. I’ll put a chair in front of the door from now on.

Clamp a Vice-Grip Pliers onto the dead-bolt in a way where the bolt cannot be turned without removing the pliers. I have been doing this for years. At the cosmo it is very easy to get into someone's room if their balcony doors are not locked. People could easily jump to another person's balcony and enter the room that way. Majority of the time, the balcony doors are not locked because people assumed it is safe. I personally experienced this before and I alerted security after seeing a person in my balcony at the cosmo.

Sometimes people lie about this for insurance purposes. They have someone they know steal the items and conveniently leave the door open, or keep the items themselves and claim they were stolen. Especially during the pandemic when people are out of work and need money.

Put a folded hand towel tightly in-between the door handle and the door. This will make it a lot harder to snag the door handle with an under-the-door bypass tool. This tool is a metal rod with a rubber o-ring that is looped over the inside handle, allowing them to turn the inside handle from the outside.

This smells like an inside job involving casino employees. The thieves seem very confident that they can execute the robbery and get away clean before the cops catch them.

Oh well.
That’s what happens when you bring a hooker up to your room.
When I'm in hotels 'anywhere' I use something called "The Scream". It's a little battery-operated device that you hang on your doorknob inside your room and if the door is opened (or even if the door knob or handle is turned, it lets out a high decibel schreeching sound until you get up and turn it off.

@Cabrini Copia It is not paranoia if there is a possibility of an incident happening. @David Evans Real Estate
What's wrong with having thieves for house keepers.

What they do is they work together with someone at the front desk that checks people in and that person tips them off. They also work in conjunction with housekeeping. It’s one big scheme.

The room safes have over ride codes or keys in case a guest forgets their combo. The main desk safe is a better option, but best not to leave anything in your room.
@@gurgy3 Absolutely!!
Just ordered my toddler door alarm, and I appreciate this report! We were robbed while we slept at a Howard Johnson near Disney World when I was a kid! That is an awful feeling to not only be robbed, but have someone in your room while you are sleeping!! What if you had woken up? They could kill you! In my mind, the alarm would scare them off?!!
Well that’s the first problem. You chose to stay at a crackhead motel lol
@@LVClay702 first of all I was a kid, 2nd we made it early and needed one night close and that was the only place with vacancies!!! We were booked in a Disney hotel!!!!!!!!!! You are the rudest person ever and hide behind a keyboard!!!! If you don’t have anything decent to say....shut your mouth!!! Our room was locked and although couldn’t be proven...had to be a employee!!!! I can’t even believe how rude you are!!!!
@@TheDeloutre I’ve had my room ransacked while I was at the pool at one hotel. Fortunately I stored my valuables at the hotel safe deposit box up front, and I had a small portable safe with a cable tether to hold my personal effects such as wallet, phone, etc. I also a vinyl coated steel braided cable and high end padlock to secure my bags in place. All they took were a few pairs of my thong underwear, but that was replaceable…I wouldn’t want those back from them, considering why they took them and what they probably did with them. **SHUDDERS**
@@princessmarlena1359 that would be really creepy having your thong stolen! I'm glad that you were so prepared! :)
@@TheDeloutre my sympathies, that sucks to get robbed, at home or on vacay.
Put a folded hand towel tightly in-between the door handle and the door. This will make it a lot harder to snag the door handle with an under-the-door bypass tool. This tool is a metal rod with a rubber o-ring that is looped over the inside handle, allowing them to turn the inside handle from the outside.
I don’t understand how they get in. There is the door handle, the double lock, and then the flip over extra lock. They can undo all 3 of these by slipping something under the door from the outside?
If a person is not safe at home, why would anyone let their guard down when staying in a hotel.
The jokes on them. I’d have nothing to steal after all that work to get in. But there are some great tips here people, thanks!
@Al McGee money doesnt buy brains.
hearing richies being robbed is heartwarming... living in their little bubble life thinking "this will never happen to me" and then BAM... there goes your $20k watches
obviously theyve never toured around any lesser-off countries
Exactly, nothing to steal, nothing stolen
looks like I need to setup a hidden camera in these motel now
Encore Wynn is a Hotel
@@rickyricardo5423 they dont know the difference between motel and a hotel lol. I’ll hug my jewelry to sleep if i was in a motel lol
Some hotels already have hidden cameras tho...and it’s not for a good reason
this happened to me 30 years ago at the Flamingo, i was lucky that most of my money was in the hotel safe down stairs, so they only got what i had in wallet, not much after a night of gambling
Clever.
Lol damn
The fact that this story wasn't at Circus Circus is shockingly pleasant. I love CC but I always get the feeling that I'll get stabbed on the way back to my room after a few cold ones. May God help you if they put you out in the Manor towers.
Holy Crap.
Well why would you stay in the worst cheapest hotel in the whole city?
Lol
oh relax, i never had anything happen at CC. learn to defend urself.
I feel the same lol
This tells me THAT the casino isnt conducting proper backroud checks w their hired employees!!!! To say the least.
well thats how they find people willing to work $9 per hour.
We just stayed at park mgm last weekend and while in the room someone tried opening our door and when I went outside to check they had already gone down the fire escape stairs. We were the last room on the floor next to the stairs.
It happened to me too. It was a connecting room. I saw the door handle move. Thankfully the top door latch was on.
I'll never stay in Park MGM again. I did not feel safe there.
Exactly why you check everything when you return to your room! !
37 thousand on the finger , 10 thousand on the wrist , every time you see me bling , bling !!! 😂🤣
Rent a room for the weekend and you’re passed all the security measures. No cameras in the hallways at the Wynn? Even the Holiday Inn has better security!
This is what I did when I stayed in Vegas .1 . Check in pick up a key . 2. Open the room door checkout the lock , open hallway closet door look inside, check the bathroom and the bedroom look under the bed and last but not least check behind the big long window curtain. 3 . Since am only staying for 3 night call down to housekeeping get some extra towels , wash cloths soaps and shampoos, and floor mats and make a request ( no cleaning service and no turn down ) after receiving all the supplies hang DO NOT DISTURB sign on the outside door.
4 . Double check the door handle when leaving the room. 5 .before going to sleep put a towel or a chair by the front door with the luggage. 6. Don’t show off flashy jewelry and expensive handbags and $$$$$.
7 . Do your routine check every time you enter the room. 8 . Stay alert watch what around you.9 . Don’t get to drunk. 10. Have fun stay safe.
I went to Las Vegas twice a years and for the last 10 years I’ve never been bad problem because, I followed this guideline that I made them for myself.
Do not trust the system and no one when you out there.
The husband hocked everything and still lost his ass, while the wife was asleep. To save his marriage he blame the Wynn. I would check the pawn shops.
If you believe that then why did the Wynn settle his claim and pay him an extra $25k for emotional distress?
thank you - something doesn't smell right? has it happened again? and again?
@@billygunns8531 it’s easy for a company to pay wether they are right or wrong.
It’s called making it go away
@@billygunns8531 25k is nothing to the casino, he probably lost way more than that. It would cost them more to go to court. To give you an example I can call the Wynn tell the host I'm coming to Vegas with $500K and I want a suite, they would have everything ready for me and give me anything extras that I want. Now I'm there gambling and I lose 500k. I can ask the host for 50k to easy the pain or to keep gambling and they would give me the money to keep me coming back. They still have 450k of my money, so 50k is nothing to them. They do this to the super rich all the time. They still Wynn in the end.
@@kingoftrolls19 I don’t think this story is going away if the thefts continue. I certainly don’t see a multi billion dollar company like Wynn to get swindled by some amateur scammers. They’re not stupid. The story says another guest experience the same thing as the couple ten minutes after they were robbed. So they either knew each other or it’s one big coincidence?
I would be more concerned about them being in there while I was sleeping, bring your own cam. I sleep with my stuff in my pillow. Hiding things in a trashcan under the trash bag too.
I used to keep cash in the Bible in the drawer where the phone is
The A/C return grille on top of the filter. You are welcome.
Lol I used to think I was weird for doing that but I sleep with my money/valuables under my pillow, like a dog guarding a bone.
wallet, keys, and phones in the pillow 😉
Weird how she states that her wedding ring was stolen yet in the police report it isn’t listed as item missing. You would think that would be the first listed item on the police report. Missing items: 2 Rolex watches and cash.... interesting. Door open from the inside. Some people are professional scammers.... ?
Interesting thought....may be legit or not...but I can guarantee that someone will pull this scam off in the future - if it hasn’t been done already...
I was thinking that too. You can see it in his wife’s face when he’s speaking lol
Lol it’s on the police report and we didn’t have insurance on it. Thanks for your concern over our loss. 🙄
#1 I am armed at all times.
#2 I move a chair over to block the door and place the ice bucket balanced on the edge of the chair so the slightest movement knocks it over.
I never leave my wallet, keys, or cash laying out at any time.
Imagine this. U check in at aria corner suite 4 rooms plush luxury. Someone’s already in there hiding behind one of the curtains the whole time then when ur gone or sleeping they sneak tf out. 😬 yikes!
Me and my family stayed at Mandalay Bay a few weeks ago. I had gone out to get ice and left the deadbolt to keep the door open since it was just a short time. A little while later we left in a hurry to not miss our dinner reservations since we have to take it slow due to my wife being pregnant and being with my soon to be 3 year old. We returned about 4 hours later and saw my door was open, I had forgotten to undo the deadbolt! We had 2 Surface Pro computers, a Nintendo switch, some jewelry, credit cards, atm card and like $1500 in cash... I expected the worst, but thank God nothing was missing, we got extremely lucky no one went in our room
Shut up
im glad nothing was missing! Crazy how expensive these hotels are but it’s so easy for thieves to get in and out with your stuff!
@@issasecretsecret7814 Apparently there was a guy who didn't have any trouble getting like 25 long guns into his room at Mandalay Bay, complete with bump stocks. A " lone wolf" to be sure...
That might have been a lucky move..it seemed too easy.
They're lying there's more to the story then they are letting on
We should get together and have a discussion about what really happened and find the truth
There's always more to the story ;-)
I agree. Their story doesn't pass the smell test. Were they both drunk to not hear an intruder? If those watches were really worth 22K, why even wear them to Vegas? Why is that heavy diamond ring declared as stolen not on the theft report? Why just cash gone from wallets and not credit cards?
@@Robnord1 I bought an expensive watch to go to Vegas one year,, thought I be cool,, roll up my sleeves, and show it off...guess what the other 100 men are doing,, yup,, it was stupid and it looked stupid,, I went back to my Timex,, felt better. Don't bring expensive any thing to Vegas... getto, thieves, crooks, are all local people are looking to rob you in plain daylight. Get some nice pictures with the show girls on the strip,,, usually its just 5 dollars a piece ,,but they are hot.
Yep, the couple lost big in the casino so they decided to pull this scam and claim theft to get insurance money.
This happened to me in Myrtle Beach in 2016. They came in the room while we were out. Stole money, jewelry and medications.
Wynn has cameras looking down the halls. they can very easily look at those tapes to figure this out. if they are not doing it they are lying to their patrons
As a GRA myself leaving the room I always double check if the rooms are closed as securely as possible. People if you want to make sure you are closing your doors securely ask for security or housekeeping to show you how.
Maybe we should put cameras in the hallways ? For the safety of both guests and employees
You think this would be common sense.
Depends which hotel. Some do that are new, some dont that are old.
They say 5* but not, they ran bacteria test and all failed. No hallway cams. Its merely a decorated project building
Is it just me who think it's odd that someone would leave cash, rings, wallets, in the kitchen area, and not in the bedroom/bathroom where most of us get undressed and ready for bed? Hmmmm....
Scam.
Insurance scam
She was probably eating or just got back into the room. They were most definitely being watched!
Yes the good old white people pullinf insurance scams in Vegas
Its even more odd and IMPOSSIBLE for someone to open their door IF he locked AND latched the door. Even if a thief had the contraption to slip under the door you would hear it. I not only managed hotels in Vegas but also worked for hotel insurance attorneys. This type of fraud happens all day every day. Vegas is a scammers Disneyland.
This smells like an inside job involving casino employees. The thieves seem very confident that they can execute the robbery and get away clean before the cops catch them. The only way a thief would feel this confident is if they know someone on the inside is helping them by pointing out the security flaws in the hotel. It’s common sense.
I think it is even more 'insider' than employees - lol
So agree,, inside the Wynn staff..cleaning crew is the only way... once the cleaning crew has those Master key cards,...what you expect.
@@photo7839 I am not saying this couldn't be possible, but I think they need to take a closer look at the couple first.
@@ladyluck2607 why stop there? Another couple was robbed 10 minutes after that couple. The couple claimed to be repeat customers of Wynn so it’s likely the casino already knew who they were dealing with, which is why they settled their claim. But what about the other couple who suffered the same ordeal, when are we going to hear about their story?
Security and employees are in on it
I was sexually assaulted there by a staff worker "security guard" years ago. In the hallway in front of my room. I filed a police report in both the hotel and the police station right after. I was young and didn't know what to do. When I asked for camera footage in the hallway or in the elevator leading up to where it happened. Wynn did not help at all.A few days later suddenly the guy was let go nowhere to be found. I never went to Wynn again and never want to.
Like the idea of buying your own multiple camera system and setting them up in the counter. Also those lights that come on when it detects motion. Cameras have to be activated online and local for backup.
Scary that there might have been a person hiding in the room before they came in and just waited till all clear. That room looked huge.
They lying
agree, they are so fake
They obviously lying
My wife always wondered why I duct taped the bottom of the door at night. The locksmith tool is useless if you can't get it under the door. I also check the door use all locks and place a chair in front of the door.
Great idea with the duct tape! We are in many different hotels during the year as we travel following the sun! From now on I’m packing the duct tape first!!!!
This was good reporting. I would have never suspected this could happen. Hopefully, all the criminals will be caught.
Is there any update to this case? If yes and if someone has any idea plz let me know!!
Same thing happened to my wife and I at Borgata, A.C like 3 years ago while we were downstairs playing. One cleaner came in the room. All they took was a $150 Pandora ring. Always put the tags on door so they don't come in your room!
How do you sleep in a hotel room without deadbolting it and setting a chair in front of the door? I literally can't sleep otherwise.
I even do that in my home too _ lol - plus there's a shotgun in the closet which I've never fired, YET lol
I understand.
Right?
Not paranoid
@@madambutterfly7513 that's too far to be useful
My diamond earrings are cubic zirconia and I paid $200 for my watch. I don't carry a designer handbag and normally dress very casual. My phone and laptop are old. I don't carry much cash. I think they would be very disappointed if someone stole my stuff and tried to resell it. Even still it would inconvenience me so I'm going to purchase a door stop to put in front of the door and I'll also put the ironing board to make a loud bang so it will wake me.
I think that's the key. I know it's Vegas but just don't bring the expensive stuff on vacation. Your hotel room is not your home. I use the safe for passports and any excess cash but I am not sure if even that's entirely secure.
Very good. Very smart. 👍
There is more cameras in a casino then a courthouse.
They can easily see who's coming and going
I’m dubious. I slept with my wedding rings on my finger. She’s lying.
You can't call this woman a liar based on your different life choices, some people don't sleep with jewelry on and I'm one of those, just like some people wear pajamas and some of us sleep in our birthday suit.
