6:40 imagining a Stark warrior having a pre-battle ritual of consuming the sap, communing with the 'old gods' all night, entering battle in an almost trance like frenzy, with their wolves, she-bears and shadowcats savaging their enemies is so awesome
If magic consumes its user, then what if the greenseers' features (green skin, antlers) are the consequences of using green magic? Even if a greenseer's actual transformation doesn't make them look like Garth Greenhand, they definitely turn into worm food like Bloodraven and join the hive mind.

David Lightbringer, there is a flower with a medicinal root called Valerian. How would this symbol fit into the story? It's an herb, the flowers die and the thing can be cut at the root and be born again in the spring and flower again. It is used for sleep (wake the sleepers?) And it's used for anxiety, depression and other things when the nervous system needs to be calmed. It stinks...but it does help sleep SOME. What do you make of this? Being cut at the root and coming back seems like Dani. What do you make of this?.. Thanks and with Humanly Love, Anita Reason To Believe
🎉 I'm surprised you're up so early, I just got this notification on my phone at about 7 AM, I'm super impressed, I loved yesterday's stream, so as always, listening to this on my way to work this morning😊
The Tower of Joy by Mike Miller goes hard. I think were are to see a "trinity" of three different aspects of the original Other(s) here: A dragon, an Old One and the wielder of the Magic Sword(tm). Oh, you point this out in the Beric section as well.
The significance of the "Wolves" in the North reminds me a lot of an iconic passage written by Aldo Leopold (whom George is likely very aware): "We reached the old wolf in time to watch a fierce green fire dying in her eyes. I realized then, and have known ever since, that there was something new to me in those eyes - something known only to her and to the mountain. I was young then, and full of trigger-itch; I thought that because fewer wolves meant more deer, that no wolves would mean hunters’ paradise. But after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view." The wolves mean balance. A strong north means one where the wolves rule with the fierce green fire in their eyes.
So in elden ring blue water represents purity and flowing water while red water represents rot and stagnation. So maybe the blue lake tributaries dried up?
Nice to touch on stagnation also as a perhaps parallel theme depending on your interpretation of the Weirwood magic. Assuming you've played Sekiro or are at least familiar with it somewhat, stagnation is one of the primary themes and is shown as a source of impurity. Which makes sense considering that concept's importance both in Fromsoft games and Japanese mythos
@@ThommyofThenn yes I was thinking along those lines. David often talks about the bifurcation of the weirnet. If the bloody blade “blood” isn’t from sacrifice as he theorizes, then perhaps the hammer caused rivers to dry up. The red lake being “rotten” could be symbolic of the weirnets “rot” now that it has been desecrated.
I love how numerous times you've said like the craziest ASOIAF theory I've ever heard and then 20 minutes later I'm like "welp yep that's actually the only viable explanation isn't it"
I believe Ghost is going to die to resurrect Jon. We were shown a similar practice on how to resurrect someone with Khal Drogo and Marie Mazdur, so simply reviving Jon isn't enough. They'll have to move Ghosts+ Jon's consciousness from the dire wolfs body and back into Jon's skin in order to restore him properly, and in doing so, Ghosts skin/body will used as a sacrifice. Since Jon and his wolves consciousness is together, Ghost shall be communicating with Jon even though he has 'died', fulfilling his name as Ghost.
Great video ! Thank you By the way, if you are disheartened by the numbers for the ice spiders video, regardless of my opinion of it, I think the fact that it's name is "Ice spiders" with an ice spider as a miniature, makes everyone going through your videos think it is just a video talking about a strange animal, when you are taking some time to push forward something else. To me you need to watch the video to know it is interesting, but for that you need to stumble on to it. Another title and miniature would change it's perception quite a lot in my opinion. Have a nice day, from France
When I first read the line that Jon was armoured all in black ice, I thought it was dragon glass armour cuz dragon glass is always described as black ice. It’s not super strong but maybe the others swords can’t harm it??
This was one of the best experience of understanding the Way to Close this wonderful Tale. George must secretly loving you with smile on his face and in his heart. Thank you 😊❤
i REALLY wish we could get a flash back of Eurons dream when Bloodraven came to him, i thought the ice spires symbolically and maybe literally killed the greenseer but more importantly destroys the power within that person, im probably wrong but how else could Euron have survived the fall if it really does kill u? what if his dream led him to jump out off a spot that was over the ocean so when he fell he landed in the water and ended up doing the drowned ritual after that breif connection to the net he felt like he had the knowledge of a god and maybe he kinda did gain some kinda deeper understanding of the magic on planetos
QUESTION: was listening to a documentary-there was a 18 month visible comet in 1997 in San Francisco. I had never heard about this. Very much reminds me of Daenerys’s comet visuals. Do you know about this? Is there connection there?
So generally it’s believed Bran will be king in the end. If he now has Weirwood growing inside him from the Jojen paste won’t he soon be rooted somewhere? Anchoring him in position like bloodraven or did bloodraven only root towards the end of his natural lifespan? If he is anchored how does he King? By worging?
All this warging and green seeing probably explains why the Citadel has been battling against magic. The end of dragons must’ve disrupted some ancient pact, or balance between magic and reason? Idk, but the old powers are waking to perhaps restore the balance. Do you think Jon’s essence, or soul, made it into Ghost? So that when the Others take control it isn’t really him? He’ll be thought of as evil, like Night’s King? Bro! You’ve probably hit on it! Calling them White ‘Walkers’ totally distracts from the tree teleportation device! We know dragons don’t like the wall, won’t fly over it.

1:13:07 In addition to the Atreides's patriarch, you might find a fruitful connection between "Vorian" and "Vortigern," the fellow that Uther Pendragon is supposed to have defeated to become king. Otherwise it doesn't seem to be a name people use.
I’m not sure how often you check comments on older videos, but the discussions about Dune got me thinking about what the maesters might REALLY be up to. I’ve had this head cannon for awhile that they have a hidden agenda involving the manipulation of lineages, consolidating the Targaryen, Stark, and Dayne bloodlines. It’s clear that the maesters share similarities with the Bene Gesserit. Both are these shadowy organizations that wield immense influence on the lords they serve. They both rely on knowledge and subtle manipulation to shape the world around them. While the Bene Gesserit’s goal is to produce the Kwisatz Haderach, the maesters may have been working (knowingly or unknowingly) to create a similar “hero” by merging the most magical houses to confront and destroy the existential threat of the White Walkers. I realize that many believe that the maesters main goal is to suppress/make magic go extinct, SO, I believe that consolidating magical bloodlines to produce a savior might ultimately destroy the world of magic. Magic in Westeros is deeply tied to both dragons (fire) and the White Walkers (ice), and it’s clear neither ever truly went extinct. This raises an interesting question for me: if one of these forces were completely destroyed, would magic itself cease to exist? Could the balance between ice and fire be essential for magic’s survival? We’ve seen how the White Walkers’ resurgence coincided with the reawakening of dragons, both seemingly tied to the arrival of the red comet. This suggests that ice and fire are two sides of the same coin, intrinsically linked and perhaps dependent on each other. If that’s the case, the elimination of either force could have catastrophic consequences for the magical fabric of the world. I dont believe that they are just passive record-keepers but I believe they are active players in the world’s most critical events. I think it’s exactly like George to make the maesters’ supposed mission to destroy magic but by actively keeping it alive until the right moment, for sure plays with his tendency to subvert expectations…for me at least! Thought I’d toss it out there 🤷
I might just be too tired right now but it feels like you spend the video up by 5 -10%. Your cadence and gestures feel off. Anyways, I am headed to White Walker Land. Appreciate you duder.
oh you're not wrong I definitely cut out a lot of the dead air in order to make it go faster. That's the point of the edit, in part. some of that is taste as far as how fast you want your podcaster to talk so apologies if it was a little fast for you
@@DavidLightbringer - No I mean is this the same content as the White Walker Iceberg you posted a little while ago, I think it was earlier this year? :)
I went ahead and watched and I absolutely love this video! Quite possibly my favourite ASOIAF sub-topic. There's AMPLE material to make a Long Night TV series (but based on this and not whatever Blood Moon was!) I love the idea of dual swords, a black one and a white one!
This may have already been brought up. But we know that the others can see through the weirrwoods, so they see all the nights watch brothers take their vows. Could we think that they saw Waymar Royce. Thinking he was john (or a stark) and that being the reason they hunted him. Why would they show themselves to waymar and not someone like Benjen? Ghost also finds the hand when john is at the weirwood tree saying his vows. If this has already been brought up I’m sorry😂. I had this though while mowing the grass. Great Video! Bless you!
Off topic but I was looking at the known world map of the world of Ice and fire and couldn't help but notice the saffron straights between asshai and ulthos. A strait connects two large bodies of water. Combine this with GRRM calling his large bodies of water seas and the indigo straits connecting the sunset and summer seas, can we not reasonably assume that on the other side of asshai, ulthosand the saffron straits is another large sea?
the obvious comparison to the potential Oily Black Stone in the Heart of Winter which corrupts the surrounding area would be the meteorite from *The Color out of Space *
How is Darkstar going to steal Dawn from Starfall? if no one has ever done it in at least 8k years Is there any precedent in ASoIaF of someone stealing Dawn from Starfall?
I know Frozen came out two years after A Dance with Dragons, let alone any of the others, and thus couldn't influence ASOIAF, but I find it kind of hilarious that all the art of Val kinda resembles Elsa, especially given her being unbothered by what some other characters consider cold.
question... lol i was watching the series on hbo again and idk why i didnt think about this before, where in the hell did they get those monstrous anchor chains to pull the dragon out the lake with? maybe they meant them to be ice chains but they was metal how they forging links of chain like that? and in the series when tyrion is in the sky cell and morde is coming in to beat him with the club, the club is leather pillow i only noticed on the 3rd time of watching it but once u see the seams in the leather u cant unsee it
Unrelated to the others but have you spoke about the fact Varys kind of mirrors gendry in terms of being blood sacrificed due to kings blood? Secret blackfyre
Hay do u think that because Jamie lost his hand and it made him a better person then brend is related to sir Duncan the tall she will lose her foot and symbols with them to cause as they lose a part of them self it cause a change in personality or belief?
Off topic but is there a legitimate reason that dany couldn't control/communicate with her two young dragons after she chained them. I'd like to think just because she was not born with the eggs but she's mother of dragons?
What if the Last Hero went beyond the wall to kill the Night’s King, who is his brother, and rescues his son who is an other and would be the Last Hero’s nephew?

This suggests that ice and fire are two sides of the same coin, intrinsically linked and perhaps dependent on each other. If that’s the case, the elimination of either force could have catastrophic consequences for the magical fabric of the world.
I dont believe that they are just passive record-keepers but I believe they are active players in the world’s most critical events.
I think it’s exactly like George to make the maesters’ supposed mission to destroy magic but by actively keeping it alive until the right moment, for sure plays with his tendency to subvert expectations…for me at least! Thought I’d toss it out there 🤷
I haven’t found much to disprove this so I’m interested in what arguments there are for/against it!
If the maesters haven’t thought about something like this then they are MASSIVELY failing with their secret plan to rid the world of magic
I’ll be writing an essay about this ASAP.
That's the point of the edit, in part. some of that is taste as far as how fast you want your podcaster to talk so apologies if it was a little fast for you
Is this the same content as the original iceberg DL posted before? Or a completely new video?
This is the one I accidentally posted for an hour on Sunday morning if that's what you mean
@@DavidLightbringer - No I mean is this the same content as the White Walker Iceberg you posted a little while ago, I think it was earlier this year? :)
I went ahead and watched and I absolutely love this video! Quite possibly my favourite ASOIAF sub-topic.
There's AMPLE material to make a Long Night TV series (but based on this and not whatever Blood Moon was!)
I love the idea of dual swords, a black one and a white one!
Awesome.
29:25 female others could be like Ent-wives from LOTR, they existed but "left" one day
Biggie: I love it when u call me Big Poppa! Lol
That song is about Diddy… lol
Perfecto.
Is part one missing?
nope it's there
Watched the first hour of this yesterday 😂
the obvious comparison to the potential Oily Black Stone in the Heart of Winter which corrupts the surrounding area would be the meteorite from *The Color out of Space *
How is Darkstar going to steal Dawn from Starfall? if no one has ever done it in at least 8k years
Is there any precedent in ASoIaF of someone stealing Dawn from Starfall?
Hello there, again!
Seven Hells 🔥
For the algorithm, FOR THE WATCH 🥷
I know Frozen came out two years after A Dance with Dragons, let alone any of the others, and thus couldn't influence ASOIAF, but I find it kind of hilarious that all the art of Val kinda resembles Elsa, especially given her being unbothered by what some other characters consider cold.
Hey Dave are you into Warhammer by any chance?
Ra(y)Gar(th). = Light catcher?
question... lol i was watching the series on hbo again and idk why i didnt think about this before, where in the hell did they get those monstrous anchor chains to pull the dragon out the lake with? maybe they meant them to be ice chains but they was metal how they forging links of chain like that? and in the series when tyrion is in the sky cell and morde is coming in to beat him with the club, the club is leather pillow i only noticed on the 3rd time of watching it but once u see the seams in the leather u cant unsee it
I think they’re like the Norns in Memory Sorrow and Thorn.
Unrelated to the others but have you spoke about the fact Varys kind of mirrors gendry in terms of being blood sacrificed due to kings blood? Secret blackfyre
Hay do u think that because Jamie lost his hand and it made him a better person then brend is related to sir Duncan the tall she will lose her foot and symbols with them to cause as they lose a part of them self it cause a change in personality or belief?
what if euron uses dragonbinder or the horn of joramun to tame an ice dragon or "otherised" dragon that burns down the wall?
Bran will defeat Euron in a beautiful manner... Fist pumping final showdown between Crow's Eye and Winged Wolf.
