Agreed, don't say a word when you're reshaping the landscape on your private property. Just do what you know is the right thing and move on to the next project.
My son and I went on a 5 mile hike yesterday and didn't see another soul. We wondered why?! All reviews said the trail was well maintained. They lied. The lie should have been obvious to us near the start when the bridges were washed out and the forest service had just chipped out steps on some old peeled logs, some of which were highly unstable. The path looked clear tho so we continued. After the first mile being clear we were lulled into a false sense of security. As we got further along the trail it gradually receeded into dense new big leaf maple scrub, interlaced with every species of blackberry bramble. We took the time to break and bend the worste of the stickers off the trail, which soon could only be found by feel. Being of the rugged sort we bushwacked our way for about an hour when it finally connected in with the part they had cleared by coming in from the other end. The only part reviewed and used by horses, who knew?! We were rewarded in the end tho by seeing and hearing many birds, most especially an owl on our way back, and two herds of elk. Part of the hike was through a burn that happened some years ago and the fireweed and wild hollyhock were in bloom filling the air with their delightful perfume. I almost forgot to mention, but your fast descent into the creek reminded me, that my son nearly took a header off the trail because a gopher hole undercut the embankment. He caught himself just in time, the drop off was about 200 feet through the brush. He also got visited by a bald headed hornet up his shorts, which resulted in a remarkable howling dance, which I did not record. Instead I got out my tube of trusty Afterbite, and doctored it for him. All in all it was a beautiful day.
Love your videos. You seem to make anything interesting. I am always staggered by the amount of extra physical and mental and computer effort you have to do just for even a short video. I mean, you basically walked that route at least twice for the cameras etc!!
Have you ever panned for gold, up there? That'd be a fun discovery. And not a bad idea, with all of the recent landmass removal (by natural means, of course). Best of hard work to get your remote roads navigable again.
We had the regular flowing side of our creek dam up with debris this winter. Went I went on a walk this spring found out it bypassed on the other side of the fork, but not before eroding and causing a landslide of a good 100ft long, 50+ft high part of the ravine on the other side of the creek. Not sure what I should do, can do, or how I would do it at this point.
Looks like the logs could have caused a nasty ice dam in the winter. When it began to thaw the banks couldn't hold it, so it blew out. Here's a quote for you, "When your backs against the wall, don't turn around and run!" 😊
@@PaulHodgson-gm6lg You'd be incorrect, sir. And in the Oregon Coast Range, (where Wilson's land is) it absolutely freezes hard enough to cause extensive ice damage to the trees every winter; just inquire of any of the small woodlands' landowners filing claims every spring.
@@PaulHodgson-gm6lg I know not - never been there; however, the ice-storm damage is well documented throughout the Coast Range every winter. (I'm a former Chapter President for one of the Oregon Small Woodlands counties, and I assure you it is a topic of lament every spring.)
Ice dams are what first came to my mind due to the large logs in the creek. The thought also occurred that since we are prone to multiple instances of atmopheric rivers in our Fall and Winter months, which bring high winds as well as gully washing rains, and deep snowfall, followed by warm spells, which cause supersaturation. We are at higher risk of these types of events on steep inclines. Those of us who live with these conditions do not build our homes near idealic looking summer streams or deeply slanted hillsides with lovely canyon views. Not unless of course we want them turned into houseboats. 😊
lot of hard work going into these vids. professional type production. 'yeah, here's the big elk trail', coming out of the bush and just finding it: with the camera there waiting. He's been out, planted the camera, gone back in... makes a very good vid but damn hard work I'd say. What about doing it with one of those drones that follow you? Be easier if it worked. Ad another dimension even.
Love watching ur videos Maybe an QUESTIONS AND ANSWER could be a future video Any thoughts on replacing the MF for a skid steer? Really easy to transport and versatile with alot of different attachments I watched one of ur video when logging dead trees, u struggled a bit with the forks. Have u thought about an skid steer with log grapple and a winch attachment Kind regards from sweden
Heavy rain ? If so why on one side of the road only ? Spring snow melt ? Samething. Beaver dam collapse can make seriuod destructions, but saw nothing beaver related. So ???? Thanks for the walk.
Are you planning on opening up all those roads this summer? I reckon it would make for some good firewood as well as something different from the usual.
Don't end a sentence with a preposition ...now you'll probably have to go back thru your dialogue to find out which one it was ..LOL...Enjoy your stuff immensely . I'll leave you with this .."Don't know what to end this comment with. "
lol. “I would never do that. And if I did, I would not show it on RUclips.“ I like this guy.

Spot on friend!
“What? Oh yeah, a big storm blew through and did that.”
Whenever I have a few drinks I’ll watch these videos and they are extra hilarious. 🤣
Love your monotone dry wit humor, makes me love these videos. Plus I am jealous of all that property!!

Fluvial geomorphology is the study of erosion by water. It includes stream process, coastal erosion and mass wasting (landslides).
Lovely scenery at least
Time to Gold pan on the newly eroded sections, might be a lot of gold in them hills
the first step in repairing erosion is to not tell anyone there is erosion to repair. then nobody will come looking for it.
Thanks for listing your trail camera👍🇺🇸
Your splash is worth a like.
Thanks for the good views and humor.
You’re living the dream … thanks for sharing your insights!
Well done sir. A walk in the woods is always good.
Nice walk Mike, didn't need to see anything exciting, just trees and huge ferns.
Beautiful Forest. Great Video. Learn alot from your Videos.
Sometimes it's nice to just take a hike. The work will still be there when you get back.
I reached a fork in my viewing road: like or not like? Well, I followed Yogi's advice. Hope that helps.
Love your videos.

Didn’t hear anything about pruned feet on your walk so apparently those nice Sox’s did their job! 😁👍🏼👍🏼
Keep waiting for you to do a Les Stroud, "always gotta come back for the camera".
Thanks for listing your trail camera.
Can you give us a link to the hard hat you prefer?👍🇺🇸
Check for gold. Fingers crossed!

"This area looks like it's more recently washed out."
That area looks like where they filmed Predator!
RUN!
SAAAAAVE yourself!
Get to da choppa!!
Looks like good elk hunting territory
he said there was a big elk trail, so you know there are big elk. not so sure about little elk.

I doubt it ever freezes hard enough in California coastlands.

Look at the size of the tree stump to the right at the 5:52 mark. It looks like is was cut down by the flatness of the top.
A long walk. Made a lot longer you need to teach those cameras to keep up. 😅
Eventually all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.
👍 MacLean

My legs hurt realizing you have to double back to get the camera after your hiking shots.
You don’t fork around when you take a hike up the creek without a paddle… well done.

Next video fixing a road washout with rocks and stuff totally not a stream thingy
Any gold in those creek beds? Looks like a good area.
Question: why the rubber/cotton gloves instead of leather? I'm sure you have a valid reason!
Big truck
You'll go back. Hopefully with a dozer, loader, skidder, excavator...just to get your road cleared. Then to tidy up your site. I hope.
Are you going to let your camera beat you up the hill every time. Let me guess it has three legs you only have two.😂
Could have ended about 7:30 where you disappeared into the light.... a bit of heavenly music maybe....
When they finally find your body, at the least they can rewind and see what happened... 😁
thats hilarious
How does he get so many camera shots? Does he just go place the camera, turn around to do a shot, repeat???
Do you have gold where you are?
Do you ever check/pan for gold on your property?

Get your gold pan out 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 may not have to mill another log , just for fun🪵 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Was that a huge downed tree you pasted?
That's a navigable waterway of the United States of America. lol.
Damn Nixon. Fool had too many smarty pants thoughts. Did some good things too.
Old rock hmm
Thats lot of fixing
You sure put a lot of miles on those shoes making this video.
I would be panning for gold just to see if it's there$$
Does anyone else out there worry just a little about Michael stravaiging around apparently on his own all the time ?
Perfectly ordinary to me, what makes me a bit worried is the solo logging he does.
I don’t. He seems perfectly capable.
But its still worth a fortune unless the state confiscates it.
You need the guberment to give you an expurt opinion and a bill, (big bill you know the one) to stop moar erosion ha.
Now why would a government body be upset for you fixing a stream to make it better?
I like to think that I’m helping you pay your taxes by liking and commenting ❤…
